I just moved here from Europe. This guy calls me 6AM Seattle time. Tells me I owe for student loan. I say I got no student loan, German Gov gave me scholarship. Finally he asks me if I am <some name> I say No. He says "well why are you answering his phone?"  I hang it up in his face.

No need to be a d-bag some people like myself have a recycled phone number which now of days is very common. So collectors keep calling thinking you are the person that use to own the number and even when you say you are not they continue too call. Unfortunately the only way to get it to stop is to change your number.

So you shouldn't assume someone just doesn't pay there bills when they are being annoyingly harassed.

You sound as though you are one of these "collectors."  To everyone else, when they call, pick up but say nothing.  Then walk away or just leave the receiver off the hook.  They will tire of this eventually.

These people have harrassed me time and time again. I am not disputing that I owe money. I dont have it to pay. When I made this bill I was bringing in money and was able to pay. Then I ended up in a hospital intubated for a month, had a tracheostomy and couldnt walk. For 4 months I was unable to communicate with anyone. When I was finally released from the hosp. I was homeless. I went into a nursing home for 4 months and an agency helped me to get into public housing. Every dime I get goes for my rent power bills and food. I will never be able to work. I have explained this over and over to these people but they still insist to call me on the phone and one guy even harassed me and told me if I hung up on him again he would hunt me down. Well here I am and I am not going anywhere. I am elderly and disabled and I dont see how these people think that they are going to profit  from harassing people like me. And my favorite is when they call and you answer the phone and they ask you to please hold for the next available operator. haha

I believe every word of this. That just goes to show you what kind of morons they have working for them

Company continues to call multiple times a day from several different numbers -- this being one of them.  

They never leave messages.

Always ask for the name of the company and the address.  Then ask the caller for their name.  Then ask them, "Is that your real name or an alias?"  They have to tell the truth.  Then ask for their real name.

THEN proceed with the call.

You must also be a deadbeat. Found more reasons to get money from them, why don't the person pay the bill they owe? Loser!!!

I'm not taking fashion tips from a guy who got his stylist off the backpages. I'm not reading this either.

This number keeps calling our business and asking to speak to someone to "verify" employment.  We just hang up on them without answering.  By law in my state they are not to call business numbers between the hours of 8-5.  This number has been calling constantly for months.

I just got a call from these people saying they are a debt collection agency.
I called them back asking for who they represent. They said Proctor hospital and even gave me my balance.
I tried to log into my account that I usually make payments through with Proctor and it says there are no accounts, so I'm guessing they really did send this to a collection agency even though I was making regular monthly payments.
As I am typing up this message, I am awaiting a return phone call and/or email from Proctor confirming this is a legit company and why it was sent to them. I will reply with more info.
He did tell me that if I set up payment now that it wouldn't go on my credit report, and that I was declining that by not arranging a payment, which screams scam to me, but that is why I'm looking into it. Not happy!

Got an email back from Proctor saying that a payment was missed and it voided the payment arrangement and was automatically sent to collection.
They are looking into options...to be continued..

I guess regardless of what the hospital says, this was a legit call for collection.

Make them send proof (validation) of the debt IN WRITING. The debt may be real but until they send written proof that they are the legal owner of the debt they could be any one of a million con artists trying to steal your money.

The hospital did get back to me and confirmed that CACI is the collector and are advised to set up payments with me. What a pain!

I got a call from these people today... I called them back... he said he needed to know what number he called, so I gave him my number... when he asked for my name, I said "I work in a law firm and I'm not giving my name to someone I don't know."  He said "I can't give you that information."  I said "Well, I can't give you any information either."  I hung up.  I don't care if they call 50 times a day.  I pay my bills and they can kiss it.
