This number has called me twice in two days. When I answer there's never anyone on the other end. Just dead air. VERY annoying.

This number called my fax machine this afternoon, which makes me think it's an auto-dialer.  From the other posts written here, it's not surprising that many people are getting calls from this number asking for someone else.

Asking for a person , that they cannot even pronounce the name- and that does not live here- We need a way to block more than 20 numbers

Up Yours, you are absolutely correct.  There are ways to block numbers, and in a pinch you can just not answer calls in the first place unless you know who it is, and let unknown calls go to voice mail.  These people who complain so bitterly about constant calls must just like to sit on the pity pot and play games.

This company called my work this morning!!!! The recording asked to verify if it was me.  The call was taken by our receptionist.  She put it on hold and came and asked if I wanted the call transferred.  I told her no, and that she should hang up!
She did.  Then we looked at this site.  I'm glad we were cautious. PS Thought it was totally illegal to call people's place of employment.

If you want to pay off a debt, but want to punish the collection agency, go back to the original creditor and pay them directly.  That way the collection agency gets nothing.  This is the one thing that really upsets a collection agency.

They called and I did not answer. I searched the number and came here. I called back and they said they are from Convergence Solutions. They rep then said they were calling for a Jamie Hawkins. I said im not Jamie Hawkins and he said ok sir. Sorry about that we will take your number off our calling list. If they call back again. I'll come back here and leave a comment.

When I get calls from this number the recording says that my daughter is trying to reach me. This is really creepy. I just hang up. I had a late bill on my mom's water service after she died. It was referred to a debt collection agency but I sent the pmt to the water company immediately as soon as I realized what had happened. But using my daughter's name???? Is that fraudulent? I just hang up. No way I'm giving some unknown caller who claims to be my daughter, any clue as to my identity or whereabouts!! Very, very suspicious behavior.

How to avoid this is the future:

Never use your cell service as a registration number.  Give your friends, family, job, or services you are using that need no-delay contact (like auto repair or your doctor) your cell number, but any type of account or anything of that nature should be a non-cell number.  Immediately, this means they cannot harass you everywhere you go.  More importantly though is the next step.

Get skype or some other VoIP service (probably best to jut use skype).  You can purchase a number through skype for like $30 bucks or somewhere in that range.  When these people call you, IPT (Internet Protocol Telephony) typically allows a much richer functionality that PSTN (normal landline telephones) cannot accommodate.  One of those features is blocking numbers without dong anything expect clicking on the number and then clicking block.

The people called me for 2 years.  Of course it went to my skype number.  Every now and then I would log in to skype and find 40 missed calls from these people.  So I started blocking the number.  Nothing for a few weeks, then I had some more.  I blocked those.  A few months went by, got a few more and I blocked those.  I do not get calls anymore from these people.  Well, maybe I do...but that just makes me laugh knowing that they are trying but they can't reach me.

I called them and told them I ran a website that checks erroneous calls and that I needed to verify who they were.  They told me who they were surprisingly.  Then they tried asking for my name and I simply said that is of no concern, I am just doing my job.  I love it...using bs against their bs.

This number called me looking for someone else. I figured the easiest way to keep them from calling back was to let them know this, "The person was a member of my church" when asked if I knew how to contact said person, I replied, "Do you have a direct number to Heaven?" When said operator, who was very, very rude & snapped, "Are you serious or are you being a smart-Alec?" I replied, "I never joke about such things, but yes, that's the one way to contact said, XYZ. I'm sorry and please, if you could be considerate of my parishioners who wish to reach me, please remove the parsonage's number. I understand XYZ did give me out as a reference but I'm positive that's no longer needed and now, I'm quite upset that I had to give out that information. I hope XYZ's family doesn't find out, they will be anger that I spoke to you about their business without their consent." Telemarketer then hung up apologizing for the loss of the member. I felt that this could be a scam; that's why I found this page, it seems these companies prey on people who are vulnerable, attempting to collect on debts no longer there and in the case of XYZ, I am familiar with some info that happened in the past, a bankruptcy/divorce, which XYZ discussed briefly, which was nearly 12 years ago!!
