It is Ally Financial, who bought GMAC - they are a debt collector on a loan you have under them. I am assuming it is a car loan. This is a legitimate collector. I bought an SUV in 2006 with a loan from GMAC - it is now under Ally Financial. Take the call. Either you owe them money or they have the wrong number. One bit of advise....if you pay them over the phone your account will be charged an additional $15. I would suggest you pay another way.... $15 for a single transaction is a rip off. Hope this helps.

I'm getting a recorded collections message EVERY DAY (sometimes more) for a person (who I do not know) who used to have my current phone number. The recording asks, "If this is XXXX  XXXXXX(name), please press 1, if this is not XXXX XXXXXX(name) please press 2.

When you press 2, the female computer voice says, "ok, thank you". Then hangs up.

One day I decided to press 1, and the recording mentioned GMAC and a reference#, but I did not have a pen at the time. So I did contact GMAC cust service numbers for both their financing and mortgage, but no record of the woman or my/her former phone number comes up. I even tried the GMAC collections company and had the same result.

This is very frustrating as I work nights and these calls come in the morning. I'm considering filing a complaint to the FTC, FCC, and the BBB against GMAC soon. The least these collection calls could have the courtesy to do is allow the person receiving these calls to have the option to speak to an operator instead of hanging up and harassing again later!

We just got a call from this number and when we answered it was a recorded message just asking for a social security number which I know banks do not ask for when calling you.  We just hung up and then called back from a different phone # and got a message saying their office was closed due to technical difficulties.  Definitely a scam in my opinion!  Beware do not ever give your social to anyone that calls you!

Received a call yesterday with no voicemail, and again today with a voicemail.  It was a recorded message from Ally financial (affiliated with gmac) asking for a name I couldn't understand.  They left a different number to call back but I didn't try it.  I have no accounts through them.

Received a call from this number while I was out.  No message was left.  I called it back and it was from Ally financial saying that money is owed.  Too bad the person before me (a realtor) had to give up his number to avoid his debt, I've been getting a lot of collection calls for him.

Received another phone call from this phone number, this time while I'm sleeping (as I work the overnight shift).  First call was September 3rd, 2013 at 9:13 AM eastern time, they called me a 2nd time later in the same day at 7:02 PM.  The call I received today is on September 4th at 9:15 AM, making that a total of 3 calls in 2 days.  This time they left a message about one minute long.  Weird thing is there is 26 seconds of blankness, no voice or anything until 27 seconds into the message.  It was an automated message from Ally Financial looking for Ryan S. Von Weller.  Even though they keep calling me from 1-877-552-1820, the automated message tells me to call them back at 1-866-559-2107.  No, I'm not Ryan S. Von Weller, but for some reason, I got his old phone number and getting quite a few phone calls for him.

Received yet ANOTHER phone call from this number right as I was going to bed.  The call came in at 10:01 AM on 7th of September, 2013 looking for Ryan von Weller (again).  This time I was connected to what sounded like an Indian man and I told him I already asked the last person I spoke with (about 2 days prior) that I told them to remove my number from their list as they're calling the wrong number.  He told me it could take a couple of days to remove it completely and said to ignore any future calls.  F**k that, I'm tired of paying for phone service to receive someone else's phone calls.  I'd change my number, but I fear I'll just get someone else's old number that also has been given to banks, etc. leaving me to still get the same amount of calls or more that I'm getting now.

I emailed Ally Financial today about this phone number and they responded that this is not their number.  It is close but not theirs.  The caller was a recorded voice that first asked me if I was me, if so press 1.  After pressing 1 I was told to enter the last 4 digits of my SS, I did not so I hung up.  It seems to be a scam but the odd part is that they know your name.

Same thing as others have mentioned. Always early in morning between 8:30-9:30. Asian woman. She always asks for my husband and when I say he is not available, she wants to leave a message and then just hangs up. I am sick of these people because we do not have an account with GMAC either!!
