?  Have you seen the wonderful job market lately?  There is nothing wrong with applying for a job.  Maybe that's what is wrong with this country, when employers actually get mad when people send their credentials and want to work for their firm.  That's the American Dream, to better your life and get a better job.  Do you really think it’s a good idea to only send your resume to companies when they have a help wanted ad in the newspaper or on a job website?  That will only get your resume placed with the 500 other resumes for the same job during this recession!  Some of the best ways to get a job are networking and tapping into the unadvertised job market that has 80% to 90% of the jobs out there.  I would rather send my resume to 100 companies that don't have a job posting and maybe they will call me in for an interview BEFORE they place their employment ad, than compete with the other 500 job applicants once the ad is posted.  And furthermore, is it really that hard for you to take a piece of paper and throw it in the trash-or simply remove your phone number from the database?  Is your business thriving in this economy so much, that you just don't have the 3 seconds to do that?  But you do have the time to gripe about it here on an internet website?  You should be happy to know that people WANT to work for you, not upset about it.  Do you treat walk-in applicants the same way if they walk into 100 businesses in person?  Surely doing that wastes much more of your time than throwing out a piece of paper.  These applicants are just trying to get their foot in the door and put food on the table for their family.  Would you rather see them out in the street when our Nation is facing a 10% unemployment rate?  Maybe someday you'll understand that it takes a lot of work to get a good job these days, and applicants need to go above and beyond to get their names out there.  In fact, maybe it will take YOU losing YOUR job to fully understand.

Got a fax from this number.  An unsolicited resume, addressed to me by name.  We're a small print shop and the applicant has a degree in computer science and has "been working on a project that involves development of a software and a portal to perform virtual screening of molecules (a computational procedure used to find the right match of protein and ligand to obtain the required molecule) in parallel on multiple machines."

It seems like this company is providing a disservice to the applicants by faxing the resume to companies like mine where his qualifications have absolutely nothing to do with the type of business we're in.

I wonder how much this poor guy is paying this service.  They might as well be faxing his resume to McDonald's.

    Inundated with fax's:
Does fall under the TCPA regulations for unsolicited material. Check the US Federal Website for precise wording.
jobsbyfax (DATABASE MINER)is a resource center that the career seeker goes thru. Jobsbyfax is who needs to be named when creating the claim/complaint.
Our Business considers it an annoyance. 99% of the time the applicant does little research to see if their qualifications meet our business industry.

Actually I work in human resources and it is sometimes beneficial to send your resume to companies that do not currently have advertised openings... however, should you do this, it is better to research companies in your area and send in a hard copy resume to an actual person (who handles employment within that company) with a cover letter that shows how your skills could benefit that specific company.

Sending mass faxes with resumes for people that have no relevant skill that would benefit my company just shows me that they do not care specfically about working for my company.  Put some effort into it and let the employers know that you are a real person with real qualifications, and that you know something about the company that you are sending your information to.

I get faxes from this number everyday from people that have no skills that my company can use.  We are an engineering firm and I get resumes from people who are in sales/marketing, or IT.

Rosenberg - There *isn't* anything wrong with applying for a job.   Or even selecting a specific company that might actually want you to work for them and letting them know that you're available.

The problem with this number is that they send it to zillions of places AT RANDOM.   They're doing a massive dis-service to the applicant and the businesses that then have to deal with the onslaught.

You know dam well this is an automated worthless technique that only exists at the expense of the recipients.   If you really want to spam your application all over the world, you can buy the stamps!

The person sending the resume has no interest in my specific company nor do their qualifications come close to anything I need.  I am insulted by the person who is so lazy that they subscribe to a site that randomly sends out resumes without researching the company and expects a call back.   Do the leg work, research the company.  Even in this economy no one wants to hire a person who acts desperate.  We still want to hire people who will benefit the company.  Having time to read up on how to stop the faxes is beneficial to the company by saving our paper and toner.  Boo to you.

I just received someone's resume from here.  Its not relevant to our firm.  Its also a terrible way to look for a job, by revealing the applicant's personal information and data to any remotely related firm. Just because we are an engineering firm, don't mean we need any particular discipline.

I have done the gentleman a flavor by calling him and informing him that this has happened and he should really do some research on our firm before applying to avoid such embarrassing situations.

In this case, whatever job search firm that did it, has just done him a diservice.  Thanks Rosenberg and jobsbyfax.com for helping waste 2 pieces of paper.  I wonder if there is a complaint line I can call to have someone impose a fine on you.  All your talk abt finding a job and all, what about cost savings for a small firm like mine.  Perhaps we shd send you guys invoices for time spent reviewing and then shredding it and the cost of paper.

Unsolicited fax, two pages, of a cover letter and resume containing vague buzzword language and nothing in relation to what our company actually does. Note to people using these services: indiscriminately spamming your resume around only annoys people and may actually hurt your chances of anyone hiring you.

I received two resumes in the same day from individuals whose only commonality was that they attended Canisius College.  I believe this website that does faxing is known in college circles and recent grads may be clueless that this is not well-received by those receiving the unsolicited fax.
