I have been receiving calls from this company for the past several months.  I have repeatedly asked them not to call me, filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and also filed a complaint with the Attorney General.  I don't know what else to do short of hiring an attorney.  Obviously this company has no fear of being sued because it seems I am not the only person who they are harassing.

From their webpage - "IGS Energy is America’s largest independent retail supplier of natural gas. The company serves over 800,000 residential, commercial, and industrial customers in a seven state region across the Midwest and the Northeast."

    > Apparently they're doing something right. They called me fairly regularly and I would hang up or even cuss them out. Then I gave someone the time to speak to me, did my research, and the choice program is simply an advantage for customers like us to have a protected price versus a variable open market price. Just for example - at $5.03/mcf one month and then $14.54/mcf the next. I'd also would advise you guys to verify your on the FDNC list. I thought I was for the longest time only to find out that I wasn't about three and a half months ago.

Oh I also saw about their guaranteed savings programs earlier in the post and why wouldn't you care for something like that? Three cents off each CCF or thirty cents of each MCF. Are you going to retire on this savings? Are you going to buy a new car with this money? No. You are going to be saving money though. We all know how important money is.

I have been with IGS for several years now. I have never had a single problem. As long as your intelligent enough to pay attention to the newest rates you can save money. You can find the rates every where. From news papers adds, online, and also all you would  have to do is dial a number to find the newest price Its the lazy people out there who dont pay attention and then need some one else to put the blaime  on!!!!

Meren if you were as smart as you think, you'd know the telemarketing laws and know that call centers, unless they have had a previous business relationship, are not allowed, by the great federal law to leave messages

also, sounds like you're trying to sell your ATT UVERSE service (as you most likely have this as your job)....what a pitiful way to have to do it

Amazed--good for you!! someone who actually knows and took the time to understand the benefits of the Choice Program! all of the other negative people on here have no idea that it is a simple phone call to try to help them with their gas costs....you know, something you use every day ?? And the SHAME of telemarketers...making a living...just because you don't like the way they're doing it, doesn't mean it is wrong...it is true, they are goverened by the Public Utility Boards of the states they call into etc, follow the laws, etc...it is just the un-informed, angry people who come out of the woodwork to slam the suppliers and their call centers...and to be honest, I love IGS...never had a problem with my rates....just pay attention to your rollover letters...be a smart consumer!!

I got a call from them today...listened to the "pitch" and asked simple questions...what happens after my agreement in June 2010? they answered I will get a new rate and if I am not happy, I can call and cancel...easy enough there! I might pay a little more over the summer, but in the winter when I use the most gas, their rate is already lower than Columbia's was last winter! I am not taking any chances with the economy in the shi**er right now--now is the time to do this--you guys can all make fun of me, but I listened--it took all of 10 minutes to do this....10 minutes to save money?? I'll do it every day--thanks !

    loyal customer
i have been a loyal igs customer for almost 9 years now. i couldn't even begin to add up how much money i have saved over the years. i can't believe people really think it is a scam. obviously they're uniformed about the choice program, and the fact that you have the right to find a better price. i feel sorry for those people. as far as them calling "all the time" it might want to be explained to them that there are many suppliers calling i get about 5 a week, and not all are the same company. i mean do you remember every number that has ever shown up on your caller id? people see a 1-800 number and automaticaly assume it's the same number. but as far as igs goes, in my book they are a wonderful company trying to help people, and if people don't pay attetion to their rates and know that you CAN get a better deal then i'm sorry for them.

    common sense
a guaranteed saving, am i missing something here..since when did saving money become such a bad thing, i suppose we should do away with the store coupons, rewards cards and all the other economically friendly options that are at our fingertips.u don't want ur savings give it to me, i could sure use it.

scott s...Iasked the SAME question! they told me nobody does...I said, WHAT ? then why call me and talk to me about it now?? then the guy told me this: you'll most likely spend more with us this SUMMER when you don't even USE it!! who cares how much is?? If you don't use it, it doesn't matter how much you pay....he told me that IGS was "protecting" my rates and fixing my rate thru june 2010 which means that through this winter, my rate is GUARANTEED not to go up like Columbia's has in the past...I greabbed my gas bills from last year and he was right...my usage was nothing in the summer and then HUGE in the winter ! it made total sense to me...do this, I am telling you it makes sense...or just pay Columbia than you really have to...your choice, but I like the money I earn at my job and don't want to pay more for something if I don't have to...until later

You probably think its a scam because you havent taken the oppourtunity to listen to these people. You assume its just another sales call and thats that. If you took 10 minutes of your time you could be saving money that you werent before. All there doing is tring to help. Your just not taking the time to listen. So its not very fair of you to judge the people who do that job.

Despite repeated requests for them to stop calling, they will not.  It is a solicitation call to try their service.  We are a business located in a big building with many other companies.  I even reported this to the building owner.  This building isn't even equipped to receive gas.  Next step - attorney General's office to file a complaint.
