- AJGot a call today from Nicole at Lysco Maintenance, offered a $50 chimney sweep if I schedule in the next two days. Not a high pressure call but she was pushy and saying stuff that I had to keep myself from laughing at. Told her I would think about it and she left this number to call her if I want to schedule. 877-730-5898. A quick internet search of the company's name resulted in several articles about the scam behind the call, they get into your house for an attractively low rate and then pressure you to have your chimney relined for $1800.
I would never hire anyone who calls me looking for work and though she was not overly pushy, there was an urgent tone in her call. A legit business doesn't need to pressure a potential client. Watch out for Lysco Maintenance.- Caller: Lysco Maintenance

- MSJust received a call from Lysco for a $60.00 chimney sweep that they are running in my hometown. She told me it's a half of their regular price. Person I spoke to (Marsha) sounded friendly. I agreed to schedule the cleaning and she told me that someone will call me to confirm the appointment. She also willingly provided Lysco's business number 877 730-5898 and liability insurance policy after I requested for them and also explained the work that will be done with the $60.00 price. She told me that a paperwork will be provided to ensure that the chimney meets the standard code for residential fire and carbon monoxide certification. Sounded too good to be true. I never heard about Lysco before so as I always do, I verified the legitimacy and complaints from this company. Search showed up very negative comments and reviews of this company. A few minutes later another person called me to confirm the appointment. I told the woman that I decided to cancel the appointment and when she asked why I told her to just google their company name and number. As expected she tried to defend her company.

- Kelly RI got a call on March 7, 2012 from a Lysco Maintenance company who offered to do a chimney cleaning for $70. We set up the appt and when they got here they told us we needed a new chimney lliner. We didn't believe them so we told them no and they got very huffy and left. The bill would have been $1200. Also, we are on the do not call list so why did they call to begin with? I was stupid to set up the appt. Won't do that again.

- MegI got a call from a guy named Ken Parker. He offered me a $65 flu cleaning for my oil burner flu and inspection. I have a wood stove and clean my chimney yearly, but he said that a regular chimney sweep company did not do as good a job as their company and for such a great price. He said he'd knock off $5 if he could do it today or tomorrow. He got increasingly pushy, and I said I'd have to see and I'd call back. He gave this number. I'm glad I didn't schedule it.

- rd4/2/12 Just got a call from Ashley at Lysco Contracting, they are in Shelton tomorrow. Do chimney cleaning, can do it for $60 because of cancellations. Am I a senior. Yes, so can do it for $55. Tomorrow AM. Made appt.. Checked Google of this company. Wanted to check CT license number. Sounds pretty bad all around. Complaints, bad service, pressure, damage, "discovered chimney in bad shape", try to sell chimney lining job, etc. Called back and cancelled appt.. Don't trust them. Sorry I even listened to pitch. Have more sense next time. Thanks for the info.

- x replies to Bill| 2 repliesI actually had a positive experience with this company in New Jersey, even though there is a lot of bad
news about them. I needed two new stainless steel chimney liners installed for my 45 year old chimneys.
I have two fireplace inserts, and the pipes that were originally put in were not up to today's codes.
These stainless steel pipes extend from the top of my stoves up to the top of the brick chimney.
My neighbor had one put in for 2,100.00
I read on the internet that most companies charge 1,600-2,400 for one installation.
Lysco first did a chimney sweep for both chimneys, then did an installation of stainless steel pipes
for both chimneys. My final bill was 1,800.00 for both jobs.
That's 900.00 per chimney, which according to the internet research I did, was a great price.
I still can't figure it out. I looked at the work they did, and it was well done.
Perhaps I just was lucky enough to get a guy in NJ who is trying to do things the right way, unlike
some of the stories you hear in other states. - Ms. RevelComplete BS call, dont answer. The guy on the phone was a dick.

- SS in Allentown, PaReceived a call early this am from this company. I could have my chimney cleaned for $45 in next 2 days. Got the impression that they were doing this for my regular chimney cleaning company. I agreed. Once here, I was told that the 4 year old liner I had was showing signs of deterioration, and instead of 6" stainless steel it was 5" galvanized steel, and needed to be replaced for $1800. He did not clean the chimney b/c he was afraid of damaging it more and asked for no money. I told him I would call my regular chimney service for clarification, and when I did, I was told by the office manager that they did not contract out the chimney cleaning, and I did not have 5' galvanized steel but 6" stainless, as per the written invoice. The serviceman from my company would call me later regarding this. I will never accept phone calls from this company again.

- Layla00 replies to x| 1 replyBill your experience was positive because you wanted what they wanted to sell, there is a difference. They did a story on this company in MA and it's run by 2 criminals out of NY. If you just wanted a sweep/cleaning, they would have showed up and told you you needed the work done and charged you the 1800 anyway.
- Layla00| 2 repliesI was hounded by this company for almost 2 weeks and just realized today this was the company (using a different name) that had lied to my husband in 2011 and said I made an appointment to come out to do the chimney and they would be here early the next morning, lucky I caught them on the phone and told my husband to stop, they were lying! Well I asked the name of the company when they first called and they used List Co. I kept repeating it and I spelled it and the woman said yes, so I told her that I wanted to do some research and then talk to my husband because we had a problem a couple of years ago. She never corrected the spelling of the company. I did research and didn't find anything on them, told my husband that it was only $49.99 and they did all this work and he said, well as long as I'm home okay you can book it. When she called me back today I made the appointment after her leaving numerous messages. So I asked her before she hung up the name of the company and asked her to spell it even though I kept saying List Co. She spelled Lysco and then I asked for her website and that's when she got all nervous and lied and said they don't have one because they never put it back up after Hurricane Sandy. I was like, what?? So I hung up, found the website in 2 seconds, then I went to the BBB and found out they had an F but only due to people complaining about the sales pitches, none from actual customers. So I did another search and came upon a news report about the scam they were running here in MA. It was VERY interesting to say the least. A Chimney Service man and his wife set them up with the local news station. The man had his chimney in tip top shape, all set for them and they put hidden cameras all around (it was part of a police sting of 3 years) and the workers got there and told them they needed a new liner and it was $2,250.00, they never did the cleaning/sweep because they wouldn't replace the liner. So the reporter came out and the guys hi tailed it out of there leaving some of their equipment behind lol. The police said that they've been ripping off people in MA like crazy. So apparently they've waited 2 years and were laying low and now they're back at it. So what I did was call them back and left a message and I was sneaky, I didn't say I wanted to cancel but that I needed them to call me back to change the time. I knew if I said I wanted to cancel they wouldn't call me back. They called me back and that's when I told her that it was a scam, they don't clean chimneys and that there are reports of them putting holes in people's chimneys and telling the home owner they need to be fixed. I also told her that the website was up and running and she acted surprised and shocked about this whole thing.
Either way, it's not a real company, the business address is the owner's girlfriend's home and he and his brother run the company and are criminals. PLEASE stay away from this company. I hope the man who had them come do a great job doesn't have any problems down the road. I suspect they just wanted to sell big jobs like the guy above wanted, so maybe they do a good job, but the main problem is, they will wreck your chimney if there is nothing wrong with it so they have to fix it. They're crooks and good job or not, why would anyone want to deal with scum like this? Grateful I made her spell it for me and she was honest with the spelling, as reluctant as she may have been, I think she was just doing what she is being paid for, I don't believe she is behind the scam, I don't know. I wouldn't let these crooks near my home!- Caller: Lysco

- Dr B replies to Layla00| 1 replyI got a similar called last night from a Marie, offering half price to clean my flue from the oil-fired boller. She gave me the 877-730-5898 to call. I live in suburban Phila Pennsylvania and I attempted to google the company and came across negative information and this site. When I called the toll free number; for Lysco they were unable to give me a location for the company in PA they could be verified. I have canceleld the appointment. Bware!
- MaureenBEWARE!!! This so called "company" is a total rip-off. I am so naive to think that "all" people are good. Well this LYSCO called to clean my house's chimney with an offer of $45.00 fee. and like the other unsuspected customer the "technician" came up with all this problems he encounter with the chimney, to make a story short, I signed a check for $583.15 to which I hope my bank can stop payment before they cash it. They have the audacity to put an address (probably bogus) on their invoice, here it is...103 Carnegie Center, Suite 300, Princeton, NJ 08540, they list a Lic HIC# 13VH06864100

- MartyJust finished with a sales call from this company, I had scheduled what seemed like a good deal, but something did not sit right. Glad I checked here, as I will be canceling the appointment and calling a reputable company to perform a cleaning and inspection. Thanks, and I should have known better since they have been calling numerous times trying to talk to me when I go back in the called ID history list. . .
