Keep getting this call too. I have a new landline phone number as I have just moved locally. I am on the DoNotCall list but somehow these organizations can call anyway...


Hard situation because if I answer I always donate....hard to say no!

The people from this number call on a regular basis stating they represent the firefighters of Alaska. I ask them not to call back, but they do not respect my wishes. I called the Alaska Department of Consumer Law and Protection to report the number. A woman there explained that it is most likely a fraudulent group trying to rope me in. Because I cannot provide more than a telephone number that is not available when I try to call, there is nothing that they can do.

Caller said they were from Minnesota Association of Police and referred to a tragedy where a police officer was killed. Asked for $35-40 dollars. I hung up n them

I pick up the phone, but do not say anything..after they say "hello" 3 or 4 times, they hang up! That usually does the trick..they DO stop calling!

Caller told me they were calling on behalf of the MN peace and police officers association...a clay county deputy sheriff had been killed in the line of duty, leaving behind a wife and two kids and they were collecting donations...could I offer a "gold" donation for $35.  It would take a moment to get a supervisor to handle the financial side...it took more than a moment and she obviously gave herself away as not being part of MN, when she asked if I'd lived up there long?

Mitch LaPinsky comes on the phone to get my CREDIT CARD INFORMATION.  Sorry, not happening.  They're not getting any money from me now as they totally appear to be PHISHERS!  I'm allerting the MN General Attorney's Office tomorrow.  Let's shut them down.  

They would not give me the name of the officer and I can't find any such death in MN...only in Missouri, in 1999.  Sad, sad, sad if these people are scamming our good nature.  I'm sure the police don't appreciate that.  SHAME ON THEM.

Got a call from this number tonight.  They stated they were calling from the "Nebraska Fraternal Order of Police" and proceeded to scream and curse at me until they hung up...  I didn't get a word in edge wise because I was trying to turn down the volume on the phone the whole time.

I've received several calls from this number and have been told that is is the DE State Troopers association.

Received several reports of calls to people soliciting money for Oxford Fire department. THIS IS A SCAM. They do not represent any department in the state of Maine.

Just received call but did not answer.

This is probably a 'clearing house' that does all the calls for LOP, fire  fighters, etc.

I get a call from this number at least once in the past two days.  I do not answer and after reading this I am glad that I didn't.

Been getting these calls from this number, answeed and they said they were from the Portland Maine Fire Sept. looking for money , doing a fundraiser, told them to get lost, was a scam for sure.

We get calls from this number consistently once a day.  We have only answered it once or twice, and usually there is no one on the line.  My husband sometimes answers calls like this to request that we be taken off the list, or just to give them a hard time.  I'll answer next time to see if they clain to be law enforcment supporters.  
It always says TOLL FREE SERVICE on the display.

calling my number all hours of the day, not leaving a message.  I am very ill and cant get to the phone to answer -  they leave no message. What can I do??

I'm living in NJ and I also got phone call from 877-749-7846 often recentry. When I pick up the call, it hung up. They'd never left any messages but call few times a day.  I'm wondering who they are.

The company who owns this phone (1-877-749-7846) collects donations for firefighters, police, state police etc. I gave to them once and have since found out that they get 80% of what they collect and give 20% to the agency whose name they use. That is the cut that they get to solicit money on the phone. Since I didn't give this year, they call every night at the same time and when I answer no one is on the other end. I don't answer this number anymore. This company and it's operation is close to being a scam. They go by many names but use telemarketers to solicit. My advice: be smart, be polite, say no and hang up on anyone solicting money by phone.

Don't answer calls I don't recognise

I first started getting calls with the caller ID of CT Fraternal Order of Police.  I finally decided to answer one day and got some guy who immediately launched into some spiel.  When he took a breath, I asked him why he was breaking the law if he was the police.  He went, "huh?" and I told him I was on the do not call list.  He hung up on me!

Now I'm getting calls from this 877-749-7846 number.  I will not answer.

Called weeks ago soliciting donation to some State Trooper Association. I said I would pledge to get them off the phone. Now that I have not sent in my pledge, they are calling 4-5 times per day.
