It's called phone number spoofing.

It really was blue shield responding to my request for pre-authorization for a non generic medicine

Got a recorded message today stating they were from Blue Shield, something about a pre-authorization, which I do have something pending, however, they called my home number, which is NOT in my profile, just my cell. Called BS direct and no additional pre-authorization showed up.

Why would anyone "trust you" if you can't guarantee that their caller won't be a scammer spoofing the number to get their personal info?

877-766-8812 is a scam phishing attempt using robo-call for it's deception identifying to be blue shield then requesting personal information such as my birth date. I called blue shield who researched this and i was told 877-766-8812 is not a blue shield phone number and futhermore blue shield never would use a robo-call to request personal information, nor do they ever call a customer using a robo-call

Name on number was Dad's New Helath Insurance.  First red flag.  LM.  Said it was Blue Shield about a prior authorization. 2nd red flag.  Blue shield sends snail mail and secured messages on their website.  They don't call.  Reported as fraud

It was Blue Shield calling to tell me that a recent medication prescribed to me isn’t covered.  They named the medication, which was correct and also the date it was prescribed and the doctor who prescribed it, also correct.  I was given information on how to appeal the decision.

You already know who called you but decided to visit a phone number look-up site and tell random strangers your medication isn't covered?
