- WDI answered the call, a woman said something about who was calling, but I couldn't understand what she said. I was put on hold, music started playing. I thought I would humour them and wait for someone to come on line. The music stopped and I waited and waited, but nothing except dead air. So I hung up. My call display said that the call was from the U.S.A., and I live in Canada. So the mystery continues.
- Caller: Not sure...
- BONDI have had a similar problem like that with telemarketers, What a person must do is, go to their Dealer ( cell phone carrier) and call CRTC while at dealer and simply tell them while they are both on the phone, and to fix problem or you will let the courts fix the problem. ( Trust me , they will fix the problem, because they fixed it for me. ) from that day on I never got another unwanted call. Ps don't bluff if they say there's nothing they can do, spend 50$ and file papers for court. You don't even need a lawyer. The Judge will see your point.

- Me replies to HooperThey work with the numbers that the companies giving them the files have. If they removed your number and the company said "this person owes money and here is their phone number" they will believe the company before the person on the phone.
- Me replies to TammyNobody added your name. Rogers did, CBCC can not physically change a name on a file given to them based on CRTC regulations and such
- Own It| 3 repliesWhy is it that most people here seemed totally bewildered as to why a collector would be calling? Admit it... you dropped the ball on a debt and now the collectors are calling to collect the money and you are in here claiming that you have no idea and that you don't owe anything to anybody. Obviously there are cases were mistakes happen but on every single one of these type of forums almost everybody says they have no idea what is happened. Many people even claim that it's got to be a scam. It's time to own it. I've dropped the ball, you've dropped the ball and now the company's want their money back and they're using collectors to get it. But don't run around trying to play the victim card or trying to convince everyone that it's a scammer. These are collection agencies trying to collect debts that you and I owe... and we know we owe them! Whether we pay them or not is another story but coming on here and playing stupid is ridiculous.

- Gallus replies to Own It| 1 replyWhy is it that shills come on here and seem to be totally bewildered as to why people won't believe their scammy spiel? Admit it - you're trying to scam people out of their hard earned money. Yes, you nitwit - people should pay their debts - but only to those debt collectors in compliance with consumer protection laws and who MAIL proof of debt/proof they can collect! If they won't do that - too bad, so sad - for them! BTW, anyone coming here can see right off the bat that you're a lying shill.
- Own It replies to GallusOk Derp Squad...but I am not a collector. I am someone who owes money to these people too but I am not saying I don't. I am not pretending to not know what is going on. Difference with me is I am trying to pay my debts now that I can. Just people like one one at this searched number want to act holier than thou and won't even tell me what I owe and for what. He just wants to argue. Dumbass!
- Block ItThanks to smart phone apps, we have call blockers now.
I don't care if they are scam or real, not my problem. I own no one even a penny and their way of doing work is annoying.
Since I installed this call blocker, it's their time and energy wasted, not mine.- Caller: Who Cares

- Samuel| 1 replyThis company gives me a call almost every day, even on Saturdays. It should be reported and fined by CRTC. Otherwise, it should be bombed.

- Correction replies to flying brokerIt is not CIBC. It is indeed a Collection Agency, the Credit Bureau of Canada whose employees attempt to represent themselves as working for the Government of Canada. FYI, just because of privately owned business has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau, does not inherently mean the business is credible or conducts itself in an appropriate manner. It is my understanding that the BBB is also a privately run, for profit, company that seeks payment from businesses to be on their list of "credible organizations". The better option to ascertain the quality of any Canadian company is the Consumer Protection Agency. That is a government run pseudo-oversight body.
- Correction replies to didi1 877 is a toll free exchange. You wont get charged. It is the phone company that is leasing the line that receives the money not the bearer of the number. Additionally, the bearer of the number is charged each time someone calls their toll free number.
- Correction replies to duchessReport them to Consumer Protection Agency of Canada for Criminal Harrassment.
