- Another ID VictimI got this call from a Robert form 877-824-9764, same story, as above. This is seriously crazy. I will be contacting the Attorney General, the FDC and making sure all my friends. collegues and everyone I know to be on the lookout for this scam.
- Caller: nationwide
- Call type: Debt collector
- Elspeth replies to JenniferSounds like a complete scam. By LAW - the FDCPA - within five days of their initial call to you, the callers must send you a debt validation letter proving the debt is yours and that they have the legal right to collect said debt. You then have 30 days to dispute the validity of the debt. It is a violation of federal law to tell you that you only have so many hours to call them back or they'll serve you papers.
NEVER pay any caller unless they MAIL - not email or fax - proof that the debt is yours and proof that they have the right to collect. Any caller who refuses to mail this documentation is owed nothing, per the FDCPA.
Report the callers to the FTC, FBI, Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General. - Julie replies to not so stupid consumerThis is almost the exact conversation I had with them. When I challenged what they were telling me I got hung up on. I continued to call and got hung up on 3 more times. I also reported these people to the FTC and consumer finance. Hopefully they will the ones to be charged and to end up in court!
- Veronica replies to ChelseyIf your so smart why can't you spell? You come across like a flunky. Get a real job.

Anyone receiving a from this # or an # associated with NATIONWIDE who claims to be a 'locator' please follow the link above and file a complaint also. - Veronica replies to I paid them,The very fact that you have admitted to changing offices, locations, phone #'s proves that you are a scam artist... dumb @$$. People like you do get caught. Just wait. Probably time for you to change your company name also, however I am sure you are operating under more than just one name as I fell for it twice and didn't realize until later I was contacted by the same person claiming the same b.s. and using the same tactics. You will get caught.

- Another victimI received a call from a Robert Carter he was suppose to be locator .He gave me a reference number and a contact number I called and they where nationwide . I asked is this a collection call because your contacting my employer. Of course they say there are a prelitigation firm. Then they start requesting money , I advised them to send me docs to prove this debt. They got upset and said I. Am a fraud and docs will be served and I will be liable for all court fees. The next day same thing I advise not to be contacted at my employer. Next day they call my managers and tell them I'm under investigation and lot of others things. He told my boss he be there in a few hours he never showed up. I contacted FTC and my attorney general. I did some research on this company and every time you ask for a address they say no , or they want give it to you. So I dug little further this the address I came up with . I hope this help , this company need to be stopped

- Alfalfa replies to kevinDemand a legitimate, physical mailing address in which to send a cease communication letter (via certified mail with return receipt requested). This is your right under the FDCPA. If they refuse, let them know you will be seeking legal counsel who will get it for you.
- kassie replies to not so stupid consumerThey messaged me today threatened further warnings. If I didn't pay today
- C. HarperI received a call from another number, 7143840300 at my place of work. My coworker picked up and asked to speak with me about a claim filed against me. Didn't suspect anything of it, so I spoke with the guy. His supposed name was Nick Norwell. Said he had some papers to serve me and needed to verify my work address. Asked him what this was in regards to, and he said he was a locator and I needed to call 8555199517 to obtain info. He gave me a case number. And said he'd give me an hour. I called and spoke with Allen at Nationwide. He said I owed money on a payday advance from dec 2010. I told him that was paid off and he said I can handle it directly with them or wait until the 3rd party delivers me the paper for fraud and intent to not pay. I said ok, send it. Because until i recieve a written notice validating my debt, i was not going to do anything. Went back to work and sure enough Nick calls. Tells another coworker he needed to speak with in regards to a claim being filed against me. I got on the phone and told him this is a personal phone call, he is not allowed to contact me at work. Im not allowed to receive personal calls . He then says he hates to sound like a broken record but he needs to verify my work address since its the only one he has and he needs to serve me my papers. I told him he can serve me b at home. He then says he doesn't have that info nor does he have any other number to call me. So I told him that if he's a locater, he can locate my information and I refuse to give him any info. And if he comes to my work, I will have him arrested and that I was going to report him to my local pd as sson as we hang up. He then tells me he will be there shortly. A***ole calls right back and spoke to another coworker and tells them he needs to verify my work address for a claim against me. My coworker told him that she was not allowed to verify employee information and that he needed to contact our corporate office and hung up on him.
These people have nothing better to do and after reading all these complaints, im going to take action and report them. Just sharing my story for those who are going through the same thing. Will keep you all poated if they do call back...- Caller: Nationwide Mediation
- Call type: Debt collector
- christina| 1 replyI just got a call from nationwide legal meditations, My first red light is when they left a message, with my FULL NAME and last four of my social and in this message proceeded to tell me i was wanted for check fraud and could face charges IMMEDIATELY if i did not call them back, so IF this is Christina or someone who knows her, please let her know... Uh HUH??? Thats so super illegal ( i worked for at&t collections ) ( and check n go payday loans ) so i know for a fact that you cannot speak to anyone or leave ANY messages with information like that , three rules are your name who you rep and who the call is for , THATS IT - so i called them back and the so called manager Lisa Montgomery told me i was up for two felony cases of check fraud for an internet payday loan from 7 years ago. I filed bankruptcy last year but she said it dont cover check fraud , so i told her i would like to call my attorney to check the validity of their claim , she said i needed to pay today or she will push the legal process out , so i said ok, well do what you have to , i called my lawyer who said its a scare tactic , to let them check it out and then i called the states attorney and the attorney general here in IL and both said its a horrible scam and they have no legal standing , that they are a high tech scam because so many people do pay out of fear of criminal prosecution, while i was on the phone, this company called my father and told him the exact same thing they left on my messages~!!! so not only did they violate 1 law but now another! Im more angry that they scared my dad. but i am filing a complaint the number i got a call from was 972-594-9209

- i know replies to Justinnationwide is a scam got a call these people are so stupid they wouldnt know how to collect if it hit them in the head all the scam companies like this are being taking down 1 by 1 anyway its only a matter of time or they close because they run out of money to pay these pathetic collectors
- Not Dumb Enough to Pay Your Pathetic [***] replies to ChelseyYou're people obviously haven't done that much that much that research. When when one your employees calls me, and you say that you don't call us, and says they are with the District Attorney's office in Lincoln, NE and they have two felony warrants for my arrest, that absolutely is illegal. Lying in any way, impersonating law enforcement officials, all of that is illegal. The debt this chick claimed that I owed wasn't even legit. You don't have a clue what you're talking about and screwing people out of money is going to land you with felonies. [***].
