What do you know, I got a lovely phone call from Barry as well today! He was probably one of the most obnoxious human beings I've ever spoken with!!!!

Got the same call about the $1,000 shopping spree but they didn't ask me to buy any magazines or anything. However, they did ask me for the year I was born and my current occupation. I gave them my year (I feel so stupid) and lied about my work status and told them I was a student. She said "Well, maybe we'll catch up with you once you find a job" or something like that. Should I be worried that they got those two bits of information?

They called me and asked me to confirm the last four digits of my bank card #. It is a TOTAL scam. I just went to the bank and My account was in the negative! Seriously, and I didnt even confirm. I dont even know how they got the numbers up until then. They not only do their magazine charges but a crap load of other stuff. I just had to sign a few documents with M&T to report the fraud as well as close out my account and wait for the rest of the charges to surface. Its a pain and all I did was answer my phonw which they constantly call and keep saying no.

They called from a few diff numbers:  6785601803, 8666148890, 8778551115, 8882799221, 2012574210 3526883475

I was called several times on my cell phone for about a week by a number that only rang once and left no number on the caller id.  Then finally, I got a call with a person telling me that I won a 1,000 dollar online shopping spree and could get deals on some big name magazines.  I had just ordered three subscriptions online about two days before the call so I thought it was a confrimation call, but they sent me some package in the mail and it did not look right so I looked it up and found other people talking about it and now I believe that they are some scamming [***] trying to steal someones identity.

left message on cell phone "hi justin this is kelly i have great news for u if u can call me back at 877-855-4547 have a blessed day" called number back and said to to call back at 12-8 eastern standard time

they knew my name

i got the same exact call DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFO JUST HANG UP!!! SCAM!!!!!

same call: 1000.00 dollar shopping spree bull$%!@ for only 3.68 a week/39.88 a month, JUST HANG UP!!! SCAM!!! DON'T GIVE THEM ANY INFO!!!! christine carr sound familiar? they even tried to throw in a 3 day 2 night stay for me and a guest, yeah right like i'm an idiot! selectyourgift.com doesn't exist! SCAM!!!!

they have called be 6 times in 4 days.  They said that I had filled out an online survey about going to college.  When I tell them I have already completed college they get angry and hang up.

You must have filled out some form on the Internet like a 50$ gift card for walmart or something.

YEAH THAT IS WHAT I THINK, I GOT THE SAME CALL.... EXCEPT IT SHOWED UP 888-111-2222 ON MY CELL PHONE AND THE LADY TRACY ON MY VOICEMAIL SAID THAT SHE HAD IMPORTANT NEWS FOR ME AND TOLD ME TO CALL THE 877# AND THEY KEPT ME ON HOLD SAYING THAT THE NEXT AVAILABLE PERSON WOULD BE WITH ME, I DID NOT STAY ON THE LINE... IM SURE I FILLED SOMETHING OUT....

Got the same call on my cell too today when very busy!  Oh wait, yes, it is dinner time... "ding" round number one for the telemarketers!!!! I wonder if my cell phone company is giving out my number to these telemarkies?  Hmmmmmmm... I didn't give it to anyone else except immediate family members and friends...  

Solution:  I added my cell number to the NoCall List for my state (should have done this when I first got the cell phone!)  I wish it would take effect sooner, but at least I know it will... My advice, just ignore the call and add your name to your state's NoCall list.  I'm hoping that every state has one now..   If you do decide to answer it, you could ask them to remove your name, but I doubt they will, that is if you get a live person :-/

Got a voice mail from 877-855-4547 that said they wanted to "share some great news with me".  They did not say who they were.

This is a telemarketing firm that will offer a 1000.00 online shopping spree less shiping charges.

Oh yea, hear is the "hook" there is a 3.96 weekly charge for a subscription of up to 6 publications

i got the call today, and fell for the dumb [***]. they charged me right away. i cant believe i fell for it. im cancelling it tomorrow. they told that they couldnt cancel i have to call customoer service. i hope no one else falls for this [***] like i did.

I got a call about 4 month ago by a lady saying I won 1000 dollars shopping spree on line. Ofcourse I was interested and I couldnt understand what she said. I said that I would agree to receive the letter and read it out and then decide to keep it or not, I asked if I could cancel she said yes. When I received the letter it read that if i wanted to cancel i had to fill out the form and that it had to be back at there office, the same day I received it. I called back I explain i couldnt afford it and that i had kids, she had the nerve to tell me that i had kid when idecided to join so its my problem. They got a hold of 150.00 dollars but now that i am reading this i am going to my bank and ask for a despute. thank alot for your comments now i am aware of greety people like this.

Actually just got a call from Reading America" where they offered $1000 shopping spree! for items on there website, readingamerica.com.  Magazine subscriptions for 6 years, and you pay approx. $800 in 20 installments, or monthly for 2 years and the rest is free!  Not worth $800 of my money for a lifetime subcription, let alone 6 mags for 6 years.  Probably legitamate, but really getting more money from you from the subcription and shipping and handling you will pay for using their giftcard on cheap items.  Not sounding like a good deal to me, not to mention, possible scam involved or identity theft.  Just call the magazine company for a good deal if you want a subscription.
