- SwitchboardWe get the UPS scam every six months to a year. It's usually someone with an Indian accent. It's funny because we are about a mile away from the UPS building in our town and deal with people we know directly. So I put them on hold and looked up the number. Sure enough, it was our time of the rotation.

- yepperReceived call from this number claiming to be UPS. Wanted to talk to accounts department. Informed caller that individual was unavailable and took a message. They had our shipper's ID number. Contacted UPS customer support and they stated that no call came from them nor would they contact in that manner. Caller had foreign accent.

- JackieOkay guys- after receiving this missed call last week, I looked up the number and found this thread. So I felt prepared to BLAST anyone who called me from it if they attempted again. They called again this morning and I answered. I told the lady in a very direct way that I know she was running a scam and asked her how she could sleep at night. She said "so this balance isn't owed by you and your company?" Completely dismissing that I was just rude to her, and then said "thank you, I'll report this to our fraud department" then told me to have a nice day! I then called UPS and guess what?! This IS A LEGITIMATE UPS ACCOUNTS RECEIVABLE DEPARTMENT, NOT A SCAM! I was rude to the lady who was just doing her job. Apparently there was a fake account opened in my company name where there were real charges! Just because those charges weren't mine, doesn't mean they are running a "scam" Now, I only wish I could find the exact person I spoke to so I could apologize to her and thank her for sending it over to the fraud department as she was just doing her job. I feel terrible for insulting her.

- AllisonAgree with above, this is a scam.
I do have a UPS account, and thanks to autopay, there is never an overdue amount. - RoyScammer.
Wanted names and such. Claimed several invoices were past due. Yet somehow they came to less than even one week's invoice. Of course, nothing is due anyway so...
When I told her nothing was due she wanted a real accounts receivable (yeah, like a couple other people here, they wanted AR, NOT AP...) person, not some secretary answering the phone.
Gosh... I guess we'll just hold our breaths about that service interruption she moved on to threatening me with. Well, or not.
One fellow claims it was a legitimate call. Well, it just wasn't. I can picture this call and he goes off looking into it and finds, coincidentally, a real problem actually exists when he called the real UPS folks. I can also picture him being a shill for these scum, but prefer something more along the lines of the first thought.
Point is, you have to consider stories like he tells not for factual accuracy, but for the interpretation they put on their set of facts. "Well-intentioned" doesn't mean "correct" where conclusions are concerned. And you always have the being a shill part to consider: if I were setting up whatever scam this is, I'd first come to sites like this and file some nice reports about the number to try to make people reluctant to be the only one reporting scam, and just generally confuse the issue. No one should underestimate their intelligence or cleverness, nor their simple store of experience in how to take us.- Caller: Scammer

- TinaReceived a call today from the above-referenced number. The woman had a heavy Filipino accent. I know a Filipino accent because I'm Filipino! Claimed I owed $330 on my UPS account. I explained I've never had a UPS account. She named some local cities where I supposedly mailed packages to as well as one to Atlanta. I asked her for the account number and told her to suspend the account immediately as it was not mine. Creepy they have my cell phone number, though. I reported to UPS's fraudulent claims portion of their website.
