total scam. all of my ups packages are items sold through an online store and are paid through that online store. i never owe ups anything, the online store takes care of it all. if i ever put insufficient postage on a package (i never have) ups would automatically get the funds from my account on the online store. total scam and those that say it is not are working for the scammers.

Scam.  Claiming my UPS account is suspended.  I don't have one anymore.  I get these calls monthly and they have my old UPS account number

He's at it again! I could hardly understand him because he was outside and his small dog was barking. When I told him I couldn't hear him very well, he went back inside and everything was nice and clear. Same pitch about needing to speak to accounts payable department. Threatening closure of UPS shipping account.

Received a snail mail past due UPS notice. I Googled the phone number they said to call and found this page. Thank you to everyone for posting your experiences!

Assuming that you do not have a UPS account in arrears, or you have no UPS account at all, then take the notice and the envelope it arrived in to your local Post Office and tell a clerk there to forward it to the Postal Inspector as it is probably mail fraud.  The United States Postal Inspection Service has the power (and duty) to shut them down.

As of today (04/07/2024) the following anti-fraud information is posted on a couple pages of the UPS website.  Note that the phone number they list for calls to customers is not the number being discussed here.

    The UPS Billing Center

I received a text/email/phone call from someone claiming to be UPS. What should I do?
First of all, don’t click on any suspicious links.
    •    A real UPS link will start with “https://www.ups.com” or “https://billing.ups.com.”
    •    A real UPS email will come from:
           o    accountconfirm@ups.com
           o    mcinfo@ups.com
           o    pkginfo@ups.com
           o    customer-notifications@ups.com
           o    auto-notify@ups.com
           o    emailinfo@ups.com
           o    invoice-notification@ups.com
           o    UPSAdministrationSupport@ups.com
           o    donotreply@ups.com
    •    A real UPS text will come from 94601, 69877 or 48515
    •    If they’re asking you to pay for a package, track it first and select “pay now.”
    •    If they’re asking you to pay a bill, log in to the billing center and select “pay now.”

    Recognize and Report Fraud
    •      Slow Down - Scammers rely on urgency to create panic. Be cautious of anything that implies you must act immediately. Take the time to review the message, then review it again.
    •      Don’t Click — Check the Link - Legitimate UPS links will start with
          “https://www.ups.com”,
          "https://go.ups.com" or
          "http:/links4.upsemail.com".
    •      Check the Details - Are there spelling or grammar errors? Generic greetings, like “Sir or Madame?” Fraudsters will frequently use small typos to trick you into clicking on the link.
    •      Report It - Report it to the Federal Trade Commission.
    •      Delete and Block It - So you don’t accidentally interact with it later.
    •      If It Seems Too Good To Be True, It Probably Is - Scammers may sell fake labels at deep discounts.
