- MikeSo I talked to someone at the 877-881-8088 number and he said his company dealt with priority 1 mail, and that they were not associated with the 902-442-8588 number. I don't know what is going on here.
- Caller: CRS???
- Call type: Debt collector
- CRS replies to Peter B.Yup. Be prepared. Interest is being added as well.
- CRS replies to MikeYes, be worried! Check your credit score regularly. People steal identities all the time and it DOES affect you in the end.
- recklessI just got a voice mail saying that they had a priority letter for my husband. They left this number 877 881 8088 to call them back with the tracking number. Neither my husband or myself have called this number back and neither of us will. We have a fantastic letter carrier at our building and I am sure if there had been priority mail for either of us she would have delivered it or left us a card. Where do these places come up with using scams like this? We should all report this to Canada Post!!!!!
- Joanne| 1 replyWe got a message on our answering machine saying we have priority one mail that was undeliverable. The caller's name was Ingala (best I can do, she sounded east Indian). She said it was for Danny Marcus and myself (she had my name right but neither my husband nor I know of any Danny Marcus). How did they get my number and name when I have no association whatsoever with a Danny Marcus? When I called the number they left - 877-881-8088 - and gave them the tracking number - T493956 - I told her there was no Danny Marcus here. She gave me the address she had, which was St. Basile, NB, and I told her she had the wrong person. She said OK, she would take my number off. I found it suspicious that when I called back, there was no mention of a company name when they answered, just a recording asking for the tracking number. No music while I was on hold (was I on hold?) - it seemed like dead air - and then a woman came on the line asking me for my tracking number. It all seemed strange so I did a reverse phone check on Canada 411 and got this page.
- Caller: did not give company name
- DuanHey yo , you wanna buy some crack ? They called me today and brother has a truck load of crack at the airport , he needs to unload it quick , call and ask for Juan and he will hook you up real nice big azz rocks !
- Gordon Frank replies to JoanneSounds like a private investigations firm. Possibly trying to track someone. Other reports suggest this number belongs to a debt collector. In which case, still scum.

- OMGJust received a voice mail from someone named "Jennifer", said they had priority one mail at their office for me and it was urgent that I phone them back, never said "what office" they were calling from. They had my correct name, the number that came up on my caller ID was 1-780-328-6135, but told me to call 1-877-881-8088, glad I checked it out, I will not be calling them back! Glad for this site!
- HoHoGlad this site is here. Same thing happened. They left a telephone number and a reference to call back for priotiy one mail. The number was 877-881-8088. I did not call back but from goggling the number it is a collection agency.
- Caller: CRS
- Call type: Debt collector
- ME replies to Cheezed off in PGThe reason they do this is that fact that they have an old account of yours, which is, are is almost stat barred. It is a desperate attemp for the collection agencies to recoup even a small amount to make it go away, then they reinstate the statue of limitations act and screw your credit for another 6 years. They often misinterpret the statue of limitations act by "believing" the act is 7 when its 6 years. By Law they it is only listed for 6 years and they can only try to collect it for 6 years from the last payment date, heres hoping they didnt make a 50 dollar chart to your account to open it back up legally. All they can do is hold it against you as monies owed and try to sue you in court. Other wise it is gone for ever..
Don't be fooled if you have gone this long, wait a year or so, its worth it. 6 more years of bad credit mark and you pay them some cash for everyone who pulls your credit to see you wiggled out of the deal!!
In the event it ever does go to court than they can only sue your for the limitations amont of interest for your province** They don't tell you that do they ; )
*****Please check with a lawyer if the debt in question is significant. The law can change at any time, especially the law affecting the CRA. CRA has the habit of rewriting the law whenever a court decision goes against them.****
The Federal Government and the Provinces have Limitation Acts which provide a limit on the time an unsecured debt survives. If an unsecured debt is not collected or payments are not made on the unsecured debt then after a certain time no legal action can be taken to collect the debt.
A March 4, 2003 decision of the Supreme Court of Canada, Markevich v. The Queen decided that limitations applied to CCRA as well as other Crown proceedings. Section 32 of the Crown Liability and Proceedings Act and Section 3 (5) of the BC Limitation Act barred collection of the Federal and Provincial portions of the debt since the debt was more than 6 years old. This decision was "overruled" when parliament amended section 222 of the Income Tax Act to provide for a 10 year limitation period.
Collins v. Canada, 2005 FCA 1431 CanLII.
Examples from various provinces and the Federal Government:
◦British Columbia - Section 3 (5) of the BC Limitation Act sets 6 years as the limit for debt.
◦Alberta - The Alberta Limitations Act sets 2 years as the term which is extended to 10 years if there is a judgement.
◦Ontario - The Ontario Limitation Act 2002, came into force on January 1, 2004. It sets two years as the term (Section 4). This limitation will be reinstated where the debtor acknowledges the debt or makes a partial payment towards repayment of his debt. If the default occurred prior to January 1, 2004, the creditor will continue to have 6 years to pursue the claim. However, if the default occurred after January 1, 2004 then the 2-year rule applies.
◦Federal - Section 32 of the Crown Liability and Proceedings Act sets 6 years as the limit for debt.
*****http://www.canadianlawsite.ca/debt-collection.htm#u**** - dangerJust got a call... Let it go through to voice mail as i did not recognize the number. This is the 2nd time they've called. The woman was hard to understand, so i think she got my name right, but can't be sure. But as far as i know, i have no recent debt (nothing within the last 6 years anyway) and my credit is good ( i have old student loans from over 20 years ago, but they are long disappeared). They almost got me with the 'priority one' gambit, but i did a search for 'priority one' and this site popped up! So thank you!!
Even though i have no debt , i won't be calling back!- Caller: 'priority one'
- Call type: Debt collector
- MyandLeft a message on our voicemail today asking for "Amber" and the same last name as me. My first name starts with an A, but is not Amber. It was Elena calling from Priority One Mail and she had a package in her office that was trying to be delivered. Glad I checked here and didn't call back!
- Caller: "Priority One"
- Heather LewisI dont find it legal to call someone and tell them that you are someone else Justine!!!!! instead of acting like you were from the post office and you are really a collection agency!!!! Fraud and Scam!!!!
- 3000God damn it. This thread was started in 2008 and it is now 2011 and these guys are still in full force with the same "priority one" [***]! Does anybody have any idea how to report these guys or at least make them sweat a bit?
I was talking to this lady on the phone and i was giving her the 3rd degree. She kept feeding me blatant lies. "We are a company that deals with lost mail". I wonder how these people go to sleep at night.- Caller: priority one
