    If it is newspapers, they will never stop calling. They are trying to sell us news that we do not care about, filtered news for a docile little minds, if you want to read real news use the internet. News brought to you on the papers is fluff or not real news worthy of mentioning. They don't deal with real issues like, over use of Oil and how we can substitute hemp for oil, natural gas fracturing destroying drinking water, unlimited expenses  by gov't officials, taxing us more and more to pay for their wages, manufacturing plants poisoning drinking water, over fishing and now there is less fish b/c we don't let them spawn, or how BC Hyrdo has to now buy power from the US b/c they refuse to invest in solar panels or wind power right at the damns where the power infustruture is, or police abuse, or G20 police purposely abandoning cars so their undercover, army boot wearing black thugs can light it on fire so they can then go arrest everyone but the thugs. You know that kinda of stuff we should know about, like how Haiti relief aid sits in the bank accounts of rich millionaires and does not go to help the people there. Rather the paper would talk about other nonsense that you don't care about. I for one will not subscribe to media that is controlled by the masses to trick us into thinking that is news. Screw Britney Spears and her news.

    I repeared receive calls 4 - 5 times per day from CMS at this #. My understanding is that somehow they are able to get through even though I am on the DNC list for the next 5 years.

    For those of you who answer then get no response. It's possible they're using an automatic dialler. These are the CRTC's rules for the use of those devices, and it sounds like you would have a legitimate reason to file a complaint.

    Automatic Dialing-Announcing Device Rules

    ADADs are equipment that store and dial telephone numbers automatically. They may be used alone or with other devices to deliver a pre-recorded or synthesized voice message to the telephone number called.

    ADADs may not be used for telemarketing unless the consumer has given express consent to accept an ADAD telemarketing call. This includes telemarketing via an ADAD that is initiated by or on behalf of a Canadian registered charity, for the purpose of requesting a consumer to hold until a telemarketer is available, for activities such as radio station promotions, or for referring consumers to 900- or 976- service numbers.

    ADADs are permitted for calls when there is no attempt to sell, such as calls made for public service reasons, including calls made for emergency and administration purposes by police and fire departments, schools, hospitals, or for calls to schedule appointments.

    A person using an ADAD to make permitted calls shall comply with the following conditions:

       * Calling hours are restricted to weekdays (Monday to Friday) from 9:00 am to 9:30 pm and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm on weekends (Saturday and Sunday) except where provincial laws apply to the specific type of call. The hours refer to those of the person receiving the call. These hours do not apply to emergency situation announcements.
       * The ADAD call shall begin with a clear message identifying the person on whose behalf the call is made. This identification message shall include a mailing address and a local or toll-free telecommunications number at which a representative of the originator of the message can be reached. In the event that the actual message relayed exceeds sixty (60) seconds, the identification message shall be repeated at the end of the telecommunication.
       * ADAD calls shall display the originating telecommunications number or an alternate telecommunications number where the call originator can be reached (except where number display is unavailable for technical reasons).
       * Sequential dialing is prohibited.
       * Random dialing can be used to non-published telecommunications numbers, except to emergency lines and healthcare facilities.
       * Persons initiating ADAD calls shall make all reasonable efforts to ensure that their equipment disconnects within ten (10) seconds of the called party hanging up.

    Looks like I somehow got on their list now.  What they heck do they hope to accomplish with no one on the other end when you pick up?  Are they simply remembering the times that you're home so that a real person can call at a time when you're home?

    Wouldn't it be ironic if such phone-bot companies bugged the wrong people and got cyber-attacked? I mean, it'd be horrible, illegal, and ill-advised, but very ironic.  Who knows, maybe it happens all the time because of the nature of what these companies do, and they have hardened defenses and business models against such things.

    Calls two or three times a day. I usually let my answering machine deal with these callers until I lose my patience. Called two times again today. I finally answered. Asked caller if he knew what the "Do Not Call List" was. Caller became sarcastic. When I told him I was reporting his call to the NDNCL caller replied he was the London Free Press & the NDNCL does not apply to newspapers. After a heated exchange I hung up.

    I just got the call from this number today and it was from the Globe and Mail. Basically, it has 3- month complementary subscription program ongoing and I will receive the paper for free in the next 3 months with no cost on me and it will stop automatically after that. I can hardly wait for my papers at the door stop.
