This number kept calling and calling and calling and hanging up. SO I called them back. Some kind of "student loan assistance" program, or so they say. The guy had such a thick middle eastern accent I couldn't understand him. I told him we didn't need assistance, but he wouldn't let me talk, just kept talking and was very rude. I finally just hung up on him.

    The telemarketer calls me and said that he is here to collect debt especially student loans.  These are the date/times they have been calling me and yes they do not leave any messages so recently I talked to the person (male and female).  12/4 - 11:46, 12/4-12:25, 12/4 - 12:32, 12/4 - 12:41, 12/4 - 12:49, 12/4 - 1:01, 12/4 - 1:19, 12/4 - 2:17, 12/04 - 3:01, 12/04 - 3:16, 12/04 - 3:23, 12/5 - 2:48, 12/5 - 3:00, 12/5 - 3:06, 12/5 - 3:10, 12/5 - 3:11, 12/5 - 3:15, 12/5 - 3:19, 12/5 - 3:23, 12/5 - 3:28, 12/5 - 3:29, 12/5 - 3:33, 12/5 - 3:36, 12/5 - 3:43, 12/5 - 3:46, 12/5 - 3:57, 12/5 - 4:07, 12/5 - 4:20, 12/5 - 4:27, 12/5 - 4:33, 12/5 - 4:42, 12/5 - 5:00, 12/5 - 5:03, 12/5 - 5:08, 12/5 - 5:12, 12/5 - 5:45, 12/5 - 5:50, 12/6 - 9:44, 12/6 - 9:48, 12/6 - 10:02, 12/6 - 10:22, 12/6 - 10:26, 12/6 - 10:37, 12/6 - 11:09, 12/6 - 11:40 so far.  They say that I have some outstanding government loan and I need to pay my loan.  To date, I do not have any late payments on any loans and everything is in good standing.  A person by the name of Laura just called as I am typing this.  The first person that I talked to said that she will put on the no call list but another guy calls.  The guy said that he wanted to talk to me about the outstanding loan.  I told him no loans.  He said that it is on the computer that said no loans.
Of course the individuals have an accent, Indian / Pakistanian english accent.
As you can see, I am also trying to make a living using my phones and these individuals make numerous calls.  I read that if you write them a letter regarding the no call list and they continue to call, you could sue them a thousand for each time that they call.
It is also interesting that the calls are coming from Washington DC and I Nexus - with the caller identification information.

Hope they do not keep calling.

Then pay your bills. It irritates me to high heaven when people complain that bill collectors are calling them when they are owed money. I am not a bill collector, and I understand sometimes there are extenuating circumstances, but to complain because they can't read a calendar. Then want them to call you if you haven't made a payment, but complain that they SHOULD call you.
I know this post is 2 years old, but I just found it and had to put my 2 cents in.

I received several calls from this number on my work phone line, asking for a person I have never heard of. Each time they call, I tell them they have the wrong number, but they continue to call anyways.

This company is a royal pain in the ass. They call and do not answer back when you say hello. They call during the day when everyone is at work, yet leave no message on the answering machine. They call on Saturdays and continue to call on Sundays even after you have spoken to them. This problem is with their local office having not posted a payment, yet they say they will continue to call until they get paid. They are rude and blind sided idiots. There is nothing a customer can do on a weekend about a payment that was made and not posted, yet they want to continue to call. I have filed a complaint with the state BBB about it and have sent a request to the FCC as to what can be done about this harassment.

Call blocker might help.  Also, don't pick up on numbers you don't recognize.

Our attorney was able to negotiate a greatly reduced payoff amount. I was totally surprised when they agreed to it.

i want these people to quit calling me.  I let my son and his wife use my phone for over a month and this is what i get call after call. I have told them this isn't my sons phone and gave them 2 numbers they could reach them on not to call me again. I get 10 to 20 calls a day and I tell them over and over not to call it is not my sons phone but they don't care and keep calling. I have never borrowed from these people and I won't.

If they are a legitimate company, they should stop the calls, however, since they're refusing to stop calling, you may need to just block the calls on your phone - if your phone has a number block feature, use it.  Otherwise, get one of the several free apps to block numbers - if you have a cell phone - or for a land line, look into getting a call blocker.

} check fair credit protection act

I did, and there isn't one. The US has the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which apart from rare cases of fraud applies only to third party collectors and not original creditors. Those creditors don't typically need to obey similar rules except in a few states with collection practice laws which do cover them.

I get a call everyday.  I have even had something overnight FedEx to me.   I am working with a debt consolidation and even sent out a notice to one main financial to deal with them and nothing.  I was a loyal client, life happens and they harass customers. Never again
