- JayHere we go again. This Thread (subject) has come up so many times it ought to be called the "Herpes Thread" and should be banned by admin! The never ending argument about who is calling. The "National Rifle Association" or the "National Recovery Agency". This thread will go on, and on, and on, until admin finally decides to snip the damn thing after 6 months of redundant and repeated arguing by people who haven't got a clue about the tricks used by spammers, scammers, and bill collectors. Calling back a number that's been spoofed doesn't prove anything. Hell, they can spoof the "Mayo Clinic" on your CID if they want, and if you call the number........guess what....They will answer "Mayo Clinic".
Have fun with you battle. I'm moving on...... - hal replies to MaryThat's because the number SPOOFED on your caller ID is in fact the National Rifle Association and of course they will agree to remove you name from their list if they find it there. But, they could just as easily put down the "Junior Chamber of Commerce" for any city, and they would agree to take your name off their list too. Dimes to Donuts that you continue to get the calls as the days pass and once again the CID will read NRA and give the same number as before.
- Ms Nomorespam replies to Dan RThank you!!
- Dennis S| 1 replyI've received six calls from three different numbers over the past week: 877-840-4894, 877-211-0239, 888-202-2385. All I believe are the same calling agency. One identified themself on voicemail as the NRA. Whether they're actually the National Rifle Association or another place using their name, I have no idea. I know that if it's not the National Rifle Association, then that organization is being attacked by these calls.
- Jake Arr replies to barnyfifI am a bit antiquated and still have a twisted pair landline. I got a call from this number and blocked it using my computer and some software called CallClerk. Google it. This software can act as a call blocker using either a blacklist or a whitelist method of filtering. It does NOT have a max limit of how many numbers you can block like the hardware number blockers do. It can answer the phone to pick up fax calls. It can act as just an answering machine and can publish a list of callers if you desire. I was so impressed that I bought a copy of the software. WORKS GREAT. You do need a dedicated computer for this. I bought a Windows 8 HP laptop to use for this and it works wonderfully.
Disclaimer: I am not in any way associated with the production, programming, sales, or management of CallClerk. I am just a satisfied customer. - Buckeye replies to ABIt is from a company that the NRA hires to call people to solicit donations which they keep a chunk of and give a percentage to the NRA , I found this out when I called their (The NRA) main headquarters and talk to one of the people in the membership office, he asked me what the number was and when I gave it to him he confirmed that they hire this company's and others that specialize in calling members and non members, After he told me this last year I told him in no uncertain terms that when we joined the NRA nothing was ever said about them giving our names and phone numbers to every moocher in the United States so we would be harassed around the clock for money and to get our vote.
- Buckeye replies to Dennis SIt is a company that the NRA hires and provides the names and phone numbers of members and their family's in order to solicit donations.
- holland189It is the NRA. I joined because I support the 2nd amendment but the calls for financial support go over the top! Also, I joined for a 5 yr term, less costly. Then the next thing I know, 8 months later I receive a renewal notice in the mail? I am senior citizen and almost paid it until I called to see when my membership was up and they said not for 5 years, I complained about their aggresive methods and they said they would adjust the records? My money bets that I will receive another bill for renewal before this year ends. If they continued to be a pain in my rear end I will cancel membership.

- ElroyAnswered the phone and was told that they are a paid marketer for the National Rifle Association -- which I supported. But, with this kind of tactics, I will have to re-think my support

- CayugamomWe get phone calls like this all the time and the Caller ID reads anonymous ... I call the number back I get a recorded message from the NRA. When I do answer like I did today, it is usually a woman with a southern accent asking for my husband.. We are getting a tad bit annoyed with this tactic of the NRA... it is borderline harassment.
- sandyStop annoying me
- BJNRA
- Caller: National Rifle Association
- B DoverNRA is relentless with calls seeking $$$. Absolutely will not renew with them, I have blocked several #'s and told them not to call anymore to n avail, they call repeatedly anyway.
- BobTo all the pro-gun zealots trying to defend the NRA: it is in fact the National Rifle Association. I was forced to join to participate at a range and have been receiving these calls ever since joining. Every person I have talked to that is a member of the NRA gets these calls. Some have even been suckered into "donating" more money to their _Fill in the blank_ Soldiers Fund. If you really want to help an injured soldier, find one in your neighborhood, it's not that hard to do, and cut their grass, wash their car, paint their house, give them a ride to the VA...anything but sending your money to these idiots who may give $0.05 on your dollar to our disabled soldiers.
Call the number: "Thank you for calling the National Rifle Association, we are very sorry we missed you....."- Caller: National Rifle Association
- Call type: Telemarketer
- adobeThey wanted to know why i didn't renew membership, it's because of unwanted calls like this
- Caller: NationalRifle Assn
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- BillI received a call from this number and they hung up before the answering machine took over. The number is now blocked. Careful on dropping your membership !! It could be some anti-gun group calling themselves NRA trying to reduce the membership of National Rifle Association.
- Mad & TiredCalls my cell phone which I do not answer any unknown caller and there never is any message to return the call. Could it be the caller ID's as NRA just to discourage NRA membership? Without the NRA the 2nd amendment would be history. I hope the real NRA isn't calling.
- WoodlandsWizThey called this morning at 9:35 a.m. I do not answer any calls If I do not recognize the number. If they are legitimate, they will leave a number. I'm sure these are Robo calls where they just keep rolling over until someone answers and then it either signals to play a message or signals some doofus, "hey we got a live one!: Apparently they have a lot of different numbers they call from because I know I have blocked them before. Caller ID just says 800 service. Anyway, this number is now also blocked. They will get one ring and a hangup. I will hear nothing.
- Caller: WoodlandsWiz
- InfoBe sure to verify your caller ID information. I too am an NRA member but I check on these things before I speak with someone on the phone. BE AWARE: There is an office that is named National Recovery Agency using these numbers and the abbreviated NRA on the caller ID. That office is for some collections outfit and it is most likely those fools who are doing the nasty talking.....just leave the call....... If it is really is the National Rifle Association they will leave a message and then you can call them back. So many "spam" callers are "spoofing" their caller ID phone numbers so one needs to be alert. If you answer a call not knowing who it is, then the call is validated as "good" then your number gets sold to numerous other list compilers.
