The phone rang similar to a call that doesn't come through properly. I answered it but the call was disconnected. I suppose it's a sales/donation/or political survey call

How do you block the numbers? I have several calls a day that I would love to block, getting so tired of these stupid callers

Call blocker is a function in some phones.  You may or may no have it.  Since I accidentally got a phone several years ago that had that feature, I always make sure when I buy on a new phone.  Helps a lot.

Yep....they called again.  Idiots!  Did not answer.  No message.

Numerous calls received from this number; no message ever left. So tired of all the annoying unsolicited, unwanted interruptions every day. I no longer contribute at all to any organization who uses third party telephone solicitation.  

this number called me today.  they said they were the national democratic party convention and wanted to tell me who to vote for.  i hung up. after that and put the number on my reject list.

Got a Panasonic phone which blocks 50 calls, but took it back for the upgraded version that blocks 250...I am sick to death of all these calls and am hoping I don't need additional space to block more.  Wish all was easy as the iPhone, to just scroll down and block what ever number you want to block.  Don't these people have something better to do with their time?

I'll repost this for all the stupid people that don't get it. They use number spoofing so if you call the number back you get the Nat Rifle Asso. instead of the dirtbags that called you! You, or some lowlife relative that used your number or is associated with you, failed to pay their bill! If you do get their real number you ALWAYS get a recording saying they missed you and THEY will call call you later! Mine never say NRA, but toll free caller, toll call or private caller.

W.    I too am tired of the constant calling, emails and snail mail from NRA constantly wanting more MONEY MONEY MONEY.   It was funny when I first joined with a 5 year membership, after the 1st year they bombarded me with renewal membership.  I told them if they keep hounding me for money that I would cease my membership.

It has slowed some but still get more whining from Chris Cox gimmie gimmie gimmie in emails.  Phone calls are down to about one a month so not so bad now.

Do NOT donate money to ANYONE over the phone, now matter how benevolent they may be.  Only 5 to 15 percent of the money collected actually goes to said Charity.  Think about it, building rent/mortgage, utilities, computers, phone banks, employees salary, plus the head man gets a nice salary, etc, is where the majority of it goes.  

I get calls from the Police and Firemen associations.  Our Fire Dept has a fund raiser each year and everyone goes there and donates directly.  Now we KNOW where the money is going.

Donate DIRECT to the Charity of your choice.

Your post is spot on.  The caller is the National Recovery Agency, which goes by the acronym of NRA.  When they call, you will see one of several different numbers, even one that lists NRA UPDATE above the number.

If you answer the call (dialed by a robo-dialer) you will be connected with a collection agent, some of the rudest people you'll ever talk to.  If you call the number back, you will be connected with the National Rifle Association because the collection outfit is using special software that shows a number on caller ID that is different than the number calling you.

The collection agency is a real bottom feeder.  For pennies on the dollar, they buy old debts that have already been written off by the original debtor, like a credit card company.  They will then hound you unmercifully every day.  I have been receiving calls from them every day for three years now!  Only once did I answer and speak with one of their low life agents.  He was very nasty, calling me vulgar names and threatening to sue me.  However, the debt is well past the statute of limitations in the state where I live.  Therefore, they cannot legally sue me.  But, they succeed in collecting from some people, primarily because the person receiving the calls finally gives in just to get the sleazebags off his back.

I have a call blocker I bought on Amazon for $50.  When I see a number come up on my caller ID, I google it and always end up here at 800notes, which states that the number is the NRA (collection agency).  The number shows up on my call blocker and I simply press a "blacklist" button.  Subsequent calls ring once and the blocker hangs up on them.  Well worth the money!

Call from 888 202 2385 10:18 AM OCtober 10, 2014.  Caller ID listed Anonymous.  I screen all calls and do not answer any that I dont know. Caller hung up before machine could answer.

I have a couple of missed calls from this #. I called back and a message says they are calling for the National Rifle Association.
