Didn't answer the phone call and they left a voicemail.
Called M&T and they said there was nothing wrong with my account. Do not provide any information to this number!

It looks like they are scamming THOUSANDS today! If you get a call from these guys, report it to https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ -- do NOT give them any personal info.

I answered the phone and a message came on saying that it was from M&T Bank, and that my debit card had a flagged charge on it, and that till it was deemed okay, the card would have a hold on it. I was to call the 1-888-203-3740 number and talk with a representative. I never had any accounts with M&T Bank, so I tried the number. I would have had to input my M&T Bank account number to get to a representative. This seems kind of strange,and has to be a scam.

I received a phone call stating my debit card was compromised and it was shut down from M&T Bank.   when I called the number back, they wanted a 16 digit account number.  I have no accounts with that Bank , and I'm not an idiot to  punch in account numbers!

Got a call from M&T Bank saying there was a fraud alert on my debit card. I was immediately suspicious, we don't bank with M&T. But I was curious, and followed the prompt to reach a service rep. But then they asked for my account number. Ha! Everyone knows to never give that out anywhere (right??). So I tried to do the 0# to bypass, but that didn't work either.

So long story short, this is a scam phone call. Feel free to ignore it.

Got a call which I let go to voicemail saying possible hold on my account due to unauthorized activity. Also gave a phone number with a 716 exchange for out of the country callers. Don't have any dealing with the bank mentioned so blew it off.

Looks like this # was really active today. SCAM call as I dont have M&T bank or a debit card with them.

They keep calling and when I answer, they don't respond.

I got a call from this number this afternoon and thank God I didn't put in my card numbers.  I've done business with M&T for years and just today I made a fairly large purchase for airline tickets....so I thought at first it could be legitimate.  The scammers voice recording is even nearly identical to the real M&T answering system.  Very clever dirtballs....

SCAM!!!  My husband and I both had a voice message on our cell phones.

Got a call tonight, I am on the Do Not Call list and I have never had an account with M&T.

Same thing and we do have an M&T account.  The 888 number would only work from the cell phone, not a land line.  I grabbed a fake credit card number from an online site and entered it.  Next it asked for the PIN number associated with the account.  I entered four numbers at random.  It asks for it a second time.  Then it asks for the expiration date, which I also made up.  Has I entered the correct numbers, they would now have everything needed to start making withdrawals from the account or fraudulent purchases.

My mother and I did too. She went to the local police department and even 2 of the officers there got a call.

When they called, I didn't answer.  Left a message stating my M&T account had been put on hold.  I Do not and have never banked with them.  Total scam.

Called my cell phone & left recorded message claiming to be M&T fraud dept. reporting issue with my debit card. Have never banked with M&T.

Definite scam - wanted my card number, date and pin.  Contacted M&T and cancelled my card.
