Same story here.  Call from Tenisha from SunTrust and wanted me to call back at 8882171585.  Skeptically called back and got a Horrible phone connection so hung up and tried again.  Same horrible connection so figured it was an out of country scam and am not planning on calling back.  Posting here to inform others that the scam is still live as of this date

I received the same call from Carmen with Suntrust Mortgage on my work and cell number within 2 minutes of each other.  The cell number was "unknown", so I cannot block it.  The call to my work had a local number (713-325-8010) and said "Torando Bus Co" as the caller ID.  I called the 888-217-1585 number back and got hung up on twice when I told them to quit calling me, that they were not with my mortgage company and they needed to quit trying to scam people.  The third time I called, the lady said they work in conjunction with my mortgage company.  I told her she was full of it and hung up.  My mortgage company has NEVER called me, they only send me correspondence via mail.  Even if they were with a company that works with Suntrust, they should not identify themselves as being with my mortgage company, as they are not.

Here's the scoop.  They called me last night and I returned the call today.  I asked for their NMLS # and the CSR transferred me to an actual Suntrust Loan Officer who gave me her license #.  She said that they do use LeadQual as a third party to call on behalf of Suntrust Mortgage to try to find any potential candidates who may be interested in a refi, cash-out, etc. and then LeadQual transfers those people to a mortgage officer.  Overall, LeadQual is not doing a very good job at presenting themselves professionally nor is Suntrust by farming this out to such a poorly run service.  Ironically, I am in the process of a re-fi but I'm using a known mortgage broker that I've worked with before.

No, not a scam.  I do have a Suntrust mortgage.  Called my cell phone and then while was looking them up here, they called my work phone, caller ID showed Suntrust.  They were checking up to see if I was happy and to see if I want to see if they could get my rate down a bit.  I told them I had only been with them a few months and they said I shouldn't have been on the call list.  Thanked me and ended the call.

They are third party solicitors for suntrust mortgage. You don't necessarily need to reach out to suntrust, at least according to the actual suntrust customer service rep., but your mortgage has been identified as one "eligible" for a better rate. what you can do to avoid this BS is call 1-800-634-7928 & tell Suntrust to add you, your spouse & mortgage on the NO SOLICITATION list.

received a call from 888-217-1585 stating that this was from SunTrust Mortgage.  It was on my answering machine.   No name was given, so I checked on line and am reporting this.

Received a phone call from 410-972-3494 (Annapolis, MD). I didn't answer it because I didn't recognize the number, but I had a voicemail message from them, saying it was Lisa from Suntrust mortgage and to call this number 888-217-1585. I haven't called them back and will block the Annapolis phone number.

The woman sounded as if English was her second language, and she identified herself on my voicemail as being with Suntrust bank.  She left the 888 number for me to return her call, but the number on the caller id was faked as a local area code and number in my area.  I have had multiple calls from a restricted number, which I have blocked with a message saying restricted numbers are blocked - on my cellphone, and then this call comes in twice in a matter a minutes on my phone.  Somehow, I think they have both of my numbers (cell and work) but I do not bank with Suntrust, nor am I in the market for any kind of mortgage refinancing.  They do not have business with me and I don't believe they are actually with Suntrust.  A Google Search shows only this as a landing point for that telephone number, not Suntrust.

They are calling with same gimmick - January 30, 2017. Identifying themself as SunTrust Mortgage. They did say it was an "ad".

Just received a similar message. "So-and-so from Sun Trust Mortgage". The call was made to my cell phone, but they were leaving the message for my husband. Yesterday I filled out a form online to compare loan quotes and got multiple calls immediately. I already have a mortgage with Sun Trust. The call came from a local number 206-892-0802, but they said to call back the 1-888-217-1585 number.

I received 4 calls today from this number (two on my cell and two at work). The caller said it was Andrew on behalf of Suntrust Mortgage. The number appears as a local number in my city but then it doesn't match the call back number. I have not answered or called back. Sounds way too shady.

Looks like they have been at this for a while now.  Received a call on my cell from a local number with same area code as my cell, left a voicemail and it was "Jenny from Suntrust Mortgage" asking me to call 8882171585.  A few minutes later I received a call on my work phone from a number with the same area code as my work phone, which is different from my cell.  Again, it was the same voice on my voicemail "Jenny from SunTrust Mortgage" I called SunTrust and they did not make any calls out to me.  I gave them the phone numbers involved to share with their security department.  Blocked all numbers.

Received call from 561-413-6033 saying it was "Suarez from Suntrust Mortgage please call us back at 888-217-1585". Not a chance I'm calling that number back. I called suntrust and they said it was a 3rd party calling about refi's and home equity. End result = Bogus.

I am with Sun Trust, and got the same call, the display shows a local number but the callback was the same 888 217 1585, obviously I will not be returning the call. Of course your initial thought is did my payment go through this month or something like that so it is annoying to get these calls.

The same person called both my house and cell phone. Claimed to be calling on behalf of Suntrust. Spoke very monotone and fast in the voicemail. They asked that I call them back, but did not say why. My payments are all up to date and I think it's total BS that they can't even tell you what they are calling in regards to. I contacted Suntrust on their Secure message center directly.

This was their response:

I have received 2 calls within the last 24 hrs. Alicia calling on behalf of Suntrust Mortgage, was one of the messages. I have never received calls from Suntrust in 10 years. They either email or snail mail me. This is obvious cold calls to tempt home owners to refinance with one of their 'recommended' lenders. Thanks to everyone for posting their story. Once I finish this, I'll flag this number to be blocked.

showed up on computer saying I had a virus and needed to call them at this number and that they were   from windows (locked my screen) had to stop the system to get rid of it..

Got a call from this number (888-217-1585), didn't recognize the number so I let it go to voicemail. Message left said "This is Nathan calling on the behalf of SunTrust Mortgage" and asked for me by name. Didn't say what they were calling about specifically nor am I calling them back so they can retain my phone number as active.

Like many others in this thread, I too have a home loan through SunTrust Mortgage but I didn't request or solicit any additional information or requests. This was a cold call to my personal mobile phone. SunTrusts always notifies me about everything pertaining to my loan via postal mail.

Hard to tell if this is a scam. Scammers usually operate from throwaway phone numbers, ditching a number after a couple of days and/or weeks, moving onto a new number so they can continue calling people who block them or avoid getting caught. But this phone number's been operating for over two years according to the comments on this website. It sounds like a legit third-party company calling on the behalf of another company but the way they go about it just seems wrong. Putting this number on my mobile block list.
