This is Santender USA.  We had a vehicle financed thru them w/a RIDICULOUS high interest rate.  We finally traded in the vehicle in.  We signed it over the place where we got our new vehicle from and it has been paid in full.  We received copies of all documents.  Well Santender keeps calling and calling and calling for their payment.  I've asked them to stop repeatedly and they still say we owe a fee for the vehicle.  I spoke w/the place that we got our new car from and they assured me we don't owe anything at all, but now I'm all freaked out and worried.

Do not get a warranty from them. They do everything not to honor it. Also this loan company is the worst. I have had my car for 4.5 years have maid payments every month with the exception  of one differment due to loss of job. The loan was 14000 ...and they say I still owe 13000. Wth..I'm not making anymore payments  they railroad people who are trying to be honest and make a living

    "Stew" --

I'm an attorney who goes after these kinds of spam callers for a living. This company may be violating several federal laws with these calls (even if they're wrong number calls). One such statute (the TCPA, which involves automated calls) provides for damages of up to $1,500 PER CALL. The other (the FDCPA, which involves debt collection) provides up to $1,000 for a violation. I need some more information though.

If you're interested in sharing some information, please get in touch with me at:

    TCPA.law1@gmail.com

No cost to you. Just want to gather information to see what's going on.

    Thank you!

I doubt Santander employs thugs to make thinly veiled threats on 800notes.com.

And besides, Santander has already been sued for this, so that [***] has already sailed, my friend.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

    If they are bothering you,

    Report them:

Also contact your local attorney general

This is accurate and sound advice.

But if this *is* Santander, which is a fairly large company, they're opening themselves up to huge liability if they don't comply.

Not only is contacting the local AG a good idea, but a private attorney as well, be it me or someone else. The TCPA and the FDCPA are not complicated statutes, and these cases are all done contingency. I'm not sure why Gunnar was upset with me bringing up the possibility of a private attorney, but it's definitely a very viable option.

I received a phone call from this number, a company called Santander, first they ask for either your account # or your SS#, they weren't getting either due to the fact, I don't have an account with them.  Asked if I owned a car, sd yes that it was paid in full.  Person I spoke to said would remove my phone number.  Also said that it was possible somebody used my  name as a co-signer.  I believe it is a scam company, never received a call from them before!!!!!!!  The voice telecon also stated that this was a debt collection company.  Told them I have never done business with them!

This company has called me twice in past two days and left voice messages (VM) claiming they are looking for "Jeffery Goodfellow".  In both VM's they instructed me to call back at 888-222-4227 and that someone would be there until 11:00PM Central Time.  I am not "Jeffery Goodfellow", so my attempt to call back that number has gotten me no-where.  They ask for an account number and/or SSN to proceed.  I'm not giving this company my SSN and I have never done business with them; therefore, I have no account number - I only wanted to tell them I'm not the one they are looking for, but I can't get a live person to talk to.  I called them at 7:20PM Pacific Time and after pushing all the options and wasting 5-7 minutes per call, their VM machine finally said they were closed. On the VM's they left me, they did not identify what company they are.

Calls from 1-888-222-4227 are from Santander Consumer USA. Santander Manager explained they have their own ways of obtaining telephone numbers listed on your contact list; and after they've called you more than 10x per day will randomly call to harass everyone listed on your contacts list as well. Santander Manager said their practice is perfectly legal and it is legal for them as a collection agency and debit collector to obtain anyone's personal information you may know by any means necessary from them to call. Santander has even called a child in elementary school and each time rep stated they're sorry and called the child right back again. Santander supersedes their limitation of trying to collect a debt or even if you do not have one. There should be some laws put in place for debt collectors like Santander to follow that do violate a child privacy and prevent a child from  being harassed daily. There should also be limitations so individuals who are innocently listed on another's individual cell phone contact list are not contacted to harass. Santander takes collecting to a whole another level and it needs to be stopped immediately and regulated.

1-888-222-4227 is Santander Consumer USA. You have fallen victim to unknowingly having your information pulled by Santander Consumer USA and they've pulled it because your telephone number was or is presently listed on a contact list. The personal contact list of the individual who actually has the car consumer loan with Santander who will be subjected to harassing calls. Santander stated this is perfectly legal in collecting a debt and will 100% ignore you telling them stop calling anyone you know, their home, friend, family member, and children are not exempt from what Santander considers to be very legal as stated by them. Request and ask Santander whose name and account is your number listed under; and go from there.

Unfortunately, you are a victim of an individual you may know friend, family, coworker, associate or affiliate who ACTUALLY has a Santander Consumer Car Loan with them. Although, you are innocently listed under that individual's contacts. Santander will repeatedly call you. You are being called without the borrower's consent, knowledge or permission. If you do not know who the borrower is, ALL of Santander's calls to you are showing up on your detail bill per day, report it.

When your elementary or middle school child comes and saids mommy or daddy I keep getting calls from 1-888-222-4227. It is a Santander Representative. First a female Santander Representative called my child who knew it wasn't the borrower's number, gives the borrower's name and ask the child how are you related to the borrower. It is mommy's friend? Is it your aunt and said well can you tell your mother to have the borrower call this number. Same day, a male Santander Representative called shortly after, talks real fast with a funny sounding voice tell your child to relay the message for them. Santander's response was they have the right to call whomever is affiliated with the actual borrower. There are no law prohibiting them from doing this.

I just made my first payment( due on 3/22/15 ) on 3/21/15.  I too have been getting constant calls.  I pretty much ignore their calls ( block their number(s). ) I am keeping strict records of my payments made and date.

I just called and the only way i was able to get someone to stop calling me was to get a person from the new loan application department.
They had been calling me for a month every day and I dont have an account. Someone must have given them my number or taken it down wrong. They politely removed me from the list. Ill see if it actually worked or not.
