- dianeI received a call from a collection agency aca, and I am really upset about this . One is because I have spoken to renee in april and I told her that I did not receive this item and why should I pay for this when I did not receive this. I was in the hospital and the hospital never gave it to me when i came home. I think you better go to the hosptial and find out what they did with it. Renee told me she was putting this on hold and she would call me back the next day, she never called so I thought that it was settled. If this is not settled obviously, then you find out what the hospital did with it.

- Momto5This is a robocall from DJO. BEWARE of anything you get from your doctor's office from DJO Orthopedics. You will pay at least 3x as much as you would if you buy it yourself over the internet. We were told the Aircast our son never wore would be covered by insurance and months later received a bill for over $200 (for a device I could have bought for 80 bucks)and it had not taken off what our insurance company had already paid. We tried to return the new Aircast to DJO, but they shipped it back totally ruined. When we did not pay DJO immediately, they turned us over to collections, called us constantly, never returned our calls, and it was a MESS to clear up. The people at DJO and their collection agency were unhelpful and rude and did not seem to know what the other was doing. This is a very dishonest corporation. Again, BEWARE!
- ABSGot the same call for my husband who got an aircast. It was an automated system that gave me a reference number. We owed them $13, which we paid a month ago and funds were taken out of our bank account. Not sure why they are calling.
- Jatch replies to DanYou are correct it was DJO. I had thought they said PJO. It was about a boot that my wife had received. They wanted her birth date and she old them she was sorry but since she did not know who they were she would not provide that information and that she had a message that said to call this number back. The caller heavily accented said that he was calling to tell her that her bill had been paid in full.
- J.E.Received a message on my answering machine to call DJO between 9 am - 8 pm. Call 888-225-4398 and to refer to a six digit number. I checked the number through Google and after reading the posts decided not to call. I recently had a broken ankle, so they are getting their info from orthopedics...
- dnt knowi recieved mail today with my x's name and my son's name as patient. that he got a comf for boxers splnt for 2 @150.00 dollars. funny thing is it had my address on it. with the date of 10/12/09. no insurace nothing. what is this a SCAM
- Caller: ACTUAL MAIL FROM DJO LLC
- VanceThis is NOT a SCAM. This is a legitimate business. I sprained my ankle about two months ago and got a brace from the Dr. At the time I got the brace I was also handed a billing schedule detailing the costs of the brace. It is the consumer's responsibility to ask for the details of charges to you and to the insurance company (especially if you haven't met a deductible yet) - this protects you from surprises and scams as everything is in writing on the day of the office visit. Also, you know how much the brace is going to cost you from the Dr.
The cost of the brace was adjusted to what BCBS would cover. As I hadn't met my deductible yet, I owed the adjusted cost to DJO and BCBS counts it toward my deductible. I received an invoice about a month after my visit. I paid the adjusted bill. The check cleared my bank a couple of weeks ago. I got a phone call today asking me to call the number and referenced my account number (which was on my bill). I called the number and was told this was a courtesy call to let me know my account was paid in full. I suppose this is handy if you pay by money order, or don't check your bank or credit card statements to see when a payment cleared. A bit odd to be called to tell me such a thing, but this is definitely not a scam.- Caller: DJO
- JudieGot a bill for $80.98 for a cold pack for a knee while having an outpatient procedure done. Called to ask why insurance paid nothing on this. Was told to call BC/BS as the charge was denied. I called Oklahoma BC/BS and they said it was denied by BC/BS of California. Called Don Joy back and they said that my plan did not cover this product. BC/BS of OK said if California BC/BS would use another code, that they would pay. Called Don Joy up (yet again) and they said there was only one code for a cold pack. That is crap according to my BC/BS rep. Anyway, told them I would pay $10.00 a month until I got it paid off. And yes, the Don Joy customer rep has a very heavy accent and you can barely make out what he says. They need to get English-speaking people to answer phones. After all, this is American where our language is ENGLISH!!! That makes me so mad. Thanks for listening to me vent!
- nancythey have left me three messages to return their calls. Each time I did, however, I was placed on hold for so long that I hung up. Once I left a message saying they could call me again, and leave any amount I might owe them for orthotics on my voicemail and I would send it to them. No messages back except "call us...here is your acct number...please call us we need to talk with you." Finally to stop their calling and leaving messages I returned their call and held on until I got a sort-of-human who sort-of-spoke kind-of English...and when I gave him my so-called account number and asked why I was asked to call back, he mumbled something incoherant and said "It's OK...you are fine. Then he demanded my address because he said he needed proof that he could give me medical information." SERIOUSLY? I mean, seriously? Is this company from Nigeria perhaps? I do know one thing...the box that my WONDERFUL and effective orthotics came in (which I picked up from my WONDERFUL doctor, has their name and address on the outside...so they work for someone. box says DJO Uk Ltd, Surrey England. Authorized Reperesentative. seriously? Someone authorized this guy to represent them? I need to alert my Doctor...because he is surely unaware. He is awesome.

- SherCall received onto phone message asking for me by name to return a call to the above number. I did not return it however checked my payment receipts and found a $66 charge to this company for a wrist air cast I received from an urgent care center in early July. The PA at the time of the visit said insurance would pick up the cost of the brace. I wish I had followed up before paying out as I now feel scammed.

- GinaI just received a voicemail from this phone number and decided to do a phone look-up. I'm glad I didn't answer or call back!

- Theresa replies to MI just received a voice mail as well from DJO so i googled the number and found this site. I also recieved a boot a few months ago. It was covered under my insurance and I haven't recieved any other coorespondence so i would say, yep this is a scam.
- SuburbanMom4We just received a call from this same number -- 888-225-4398. It was an automated message that said to call back with a reference number that they left.
We had a family member with a broken bone this summer, which seems to be a theme with this number.
I am not calling back. I am wondering how these people are getting this information -- clearly they are getting it from some company that supplies orthopeadics.
Sept. 16, 2010- Caller: BJO
- BPD Tampa, FLI had shoulder surgery last month and was billed $40.00 for TEDS (support stockings). I wondered why my insurance didn't cover them (United Health Care) and figured I'd wait until I was billed again. I'm sure this is a company that goes after unpaid orthopedic related bills. Not a scam, but not a very good way to collect money either.

- Tim replies to JessicaJessica, glad you are feeling better. It was nice to hear. Lets keep in touch.
- bkcincinnatiI got a call from this number today. I thought they said PJO but when I called back it was DJO. I think they are automated calls and they are going to keep calliing back until you call them. None of the options were for returning their call so I stayed on the line for a representative. She told me how much the insurance had paid for an armsling that I got through my doctor and what my balance due will be. She gave me the option of paying online but I did not want to do that and asked them to send me a bill. When I checked my insurance records the amount she gave me was the correct balance due after the insurance payment, so I think this is a legitimate company they just have a very annoying way of doing business.
I'll report back later if they don't stop calling me.- Caller: DJO
- HD replies to DonI received an automated message from DJO to call them. As I am cautious about returning any calls from an automated system, I goggled the number and found the postings below pertaining to the 888-225-4398 number. It turns out that my physician uses DJO for supplying their patients with braces. However, upon placing the call, the customer service rep wanted me first to give him my personal information before explaining to me what the call was about; I refused to do so unless he explained why I was being contacted. At that point, he stated that my bill was paid in full.
- JI too got a call requesting I call back. They didn't ask for any personal information. They asked for the ref. # provided on the first automated call.
I read it to them.
They told me my account was paid in full...it was for a brace the Doctors gave me a few months ago. - AnkleSprainThe number is legit.
I called customer service and they confirmed it as the
billing dept. They deduct the copay and give you the balance.
The bill from the doctor's office usually clearly says it is billed seperately.
