I received a TENS unit from my local hospital physical therapy dept.  They stated it was covered under Medicare and my 100% coverage supplemental, if I needed/wanted to keep it.  Otherwise, it would be a rental for the first 30 days.  I returned it, in the DJO supplied packaging !   Well within the 30 days and over 60 days before I suddenly got a 'bill' from them. . . . .  Both insurances had paid.

I sent a cert/return receipt letter rejecting their demand as false, and demanded validation of the 'debt' in writing.  Also pointed out I found NO business license for them in Idaho on the state site.

The phone harassment began today.  NO mail response.  FTC is the next response to them . . . .

DJO waits long enough for your memory and ability to dispute is dwindling regarding to situation.

My son got a robo-call from this number, which I happened to answer.

He had a wrist support from this company, and in fact, today we had sent a check to them for the balance owed (about $8).

Are you saying I should look forward to being dunned with robo-calls about this?  I really don't want my son to have to return this call, which almost sounds like a scam to me, too.

My husband's take on this matter is to freak out at our son for having blithely accepted the wrist support (from the doctor's office, which is part of the University of Colorado Medical Center system) in the first place (he's 18, and was at the appointment by himself).  But how could our son have known - if it had been me, I would've accepted the wrist support, too.  Besides the fact that it cost at least five times what it would cost at a Walgreens, I am not getting a good feeling about this company.

So.  In the middle of typing this I called our dr. office and the girl who took my call said she was going to call the DJO rep. (She had actually had the SAME thing happen to her, with her son, with this company.  ACK.)

Not a scam.  It's tax fraud.
The bill is correct -- I did get a brace from an orthopedist on the date they mention in bill. So I went online to pay it. What I found indicates to me that this isn't a scam, it's tax fraud.

1 -- The online payments site (www.payforhealth.com) is registered in the Cayman Islands.
2 -- It offers only one payment option: direct bank transfer.
3 -- The site itself is primitive, which itself raises red flags. It doesn't look like a serious business.

Somebody who wants to be payed by bank transfer to the Cayman Islands is almost certainly engaged in tax fraud.

WARNING:  Do not enter your banking information on their website.  Pay them by credit card or with a paper check. Those give you more protections if something goes wrong.

I already paid these people and they still keep calling and sending me bills! This IS a shady business and should not be trusted. I would suggest all who have problems with them report to as many places as will listen! I am letting my Doctor's office know of their shady practices and suggest they rethink their involvement. I don't know if I want to do business with anyone who deals with DOJ.

I got a robo call and when I called back, I gave them the account number and I said...you cashed my check so why do you continue to call me.

He told me to "disregard any future calls and that my balance is paid in full".  I asked him why do they continue to call my house and he repeated the above again.  I hung up on him!

I just got another call from them, just a robo-call and not someone to talk to as they wanted me to call them back using a number that I was not prepared to write down.
If it's about a hand brace I was given, it was an over-priced bowling glove.

This company is DJO.  It manufactures and distributes durable medical equipment. I received a DonJoy brace after my surgery.  The brace itself was a good one and did what I needed.  It is located in Los Angeles with a web address of www.djoglobal.com.  I received the garbled robocall two days after receiving the bill and the same day I paid it at their secure portal on-line.  The amount due was the same amount as the insurance company said.  It had not been posted yet.  The customer service rep that answered was very polite and said she receives many angry calls about the automated call system.  From the number she had the statement information. The statement date (08/16) and I didn't get it for almost two weeks,  I got the robocall on 09/10.  I am reporting them to the BBB because I don't think it is right to get a call so soon after getting the bill. Maybe they are going bankrupt and need my $8 that badly.  Incidentally, it took two tries for me to get their web payment portal to work.

This DJO company keeps calling my  phone and my daughters phone with the automated message. About 2 months ago she received a leg brace and crutches for an injury. Her insurance covered the bill. This is a harassment and we don't owe anything. We did try calling number back but after on hold for 20 minutes we hung up and looked the number up on the computer and this is where i am at now. I don't appreciate calls coming from a company trying to scam people. Very dishonest. The phone number calling my phone is 888-225-4398.

    Billed for 2!
I went to an Urgent Care center for a knee injury. I was given a knee brace that was so large it fell to my ankle when I got home & stood up. I only weigh 140#. I called the next day & complained-was told to exchange it for a smaller one. But I was then given a small one that I could not even pull over my knee. When I complained about this, I was told they did not have any other sizes available. Hoping my knee may have been swollen & after a few days the brace would then fit, I left with my only option. It has never fit & never been used. I got a call- impossible to understand, & also a bill. I am being charged for BOTH braces!

    Hate spammers
I got this call saying it was from "The Office of Cedar Park Regional Medical <Fee??>" saying I might qualify for health coverage if I call the number.  It will be blocked as I have healthcare coverage, although I did not at the time.  At first I thought it was the hospital trying to collect but they wouldn't represent themselves as "The office of...".   A little confusing as all the above calls were for orthotic devices which I never received from them when I was there for a migraine.

This is a scammy medical supply company. They bill exorbitant prices for cheap medical equipment at your doctor's office to get around copay requirements, don't tell you what it costs, and bill you in the hopes you won't question it.

I can't believe this number has been reported in this forum for 7 years!  These people are counting on double payments.  I'm surprised anyone is giving them legitimate customer names & numbers.  I just blocked the number from ringing my phone...let them pay for a postage stamp if they want to contact me.

    Underage...
The DJO asked for my son to call an 800 number with a 6 digit number - He's 6!!! There are sooo many scams out there that IF this is a legit company they need to figure out who is the financially responsible party.  I'm certainly not volunteering it as there's no assurance from a Robo-call that it's legit!  Plus, I didn't have anything handy to write with...

I'm 59 years old and have been going to the doctor alone for, oh about 40 years.  I had the exact same thing happen to me - but with a knee brace.  The doctor's office should have said, this is $150 torture contraption and your insurance will not pick it up.  I have rarely used it as it is big and bulky and scratchy.  And I just got a voice mail from this number as well.
