- PatsyI keep getting bills from DJO for something I paid for weeks ago and they cashed the check. They have real bad bookkeping it appears.
- Caller: DJO
- schaptazThe message was automated and required you to write down an account number and call them back. The said the company name was DJO. I did not return their calls. I recently had knee surgery but never received a brace.

- MarshI badly sprained an ankle 10 weeks ago and the orthopedic doc sent a young lady in to fit me with a brace. I thought she was an employee for the ortho and the billing for the brace would come from their office. 2 weeks ago I began receiving recorded messages to call DJO at 888.225.4398 and was given a reference number when calling back. Thinking it was a scam I finally phoned my phone company who helped determine it was a brace company; the ortho office confirmed this is the company they use. Terrible method to conduct business.

- GeorgeA guy named JESUS fro DJO (1-888-225-4398) called yesterday at my house. I was not there and he told the person who picked up the call that "i should call JESUS at DJO". I was curious, and decided to check on the internet for this 888 number, that's how i got in touch with this page and i can say these guys are SCAM. My stepson got knee surgery three months ago and is doing therapy. We paid everything in front or right away so i can collect whatever $ from my pocket back from the insurance company. We don't even wait for our credit card bill before we pay them. BEWARE OF DJO!!!

- AnnoyedI just got a call from DJO. I have no idea why. I haven't received anything in the mail from them. I received a brace from my orthopedist which BROKE on the way home. I did think it was an unusually large amount of paperwork to fill out for a simple brace. I called the doc's office when I got home, and they told me to return the defective brace when I came back. I did. That was in February. This is December. Not a peep from anyone until today (no mail, no calls). They've got a really long wait before I even think about contacting them. Make SURE though, that you contact your insurance company in the off chance you do decide to call them. While typing this, I contacted my ins. co. They had paid the bill IN FULL in Feb. Now, they are due a refund from them. They didn't realize that the brace was defective. I wonder how many times that's happened. Hmmm.

- ChrisI received the same robocall. Upon verfication with my insurance, it was a valid call to collect the copay from equipment received from my doctor for rehab of a stress fracture. Your insurance company will verify your liability for any charges.

- RyanWhile they are "legit" as a billing center for DJO, I would still refer to them as scam artists or at least guilty of gouging and participating in inflating healthcare costs.
They charged my insurance $200+ for a neoprene knee brace that should have been no more than $30 or $50.
The "negotiated" price from my insuance brought it down to "only" $105.
B/c I have a high deductible plan, I am stuck with this outrageously inflated price.
Also because I'm an individual and not a large corporate insurance company paying the bill I won't just rubber stamp a payment to them.
Insurance companies and Congress need to team up and challenge costs, it's not just Doctors' bills but the supply companies as well that contribute to unsustainable healthcare cost inflation.- Call type: Debt collector
- Eric| 2 repliesGot the robocall today from this number. Voice said that DJO was calling in reference to previous information sent, and to call this number back with a reference number. The reference number matched the account number listed on an invoice I had received about a month ago. I didn't understand what that invoice was for when it arrived. I had had surgery to repair a torn ACL, but thought the brace was covered by insurance. Looking back at the eob's it does show that I owe a co-pay. But it looks like an office visity copay, not for the brace. So I'm still confused. I guess they are legit, but what a lousy way to contact people!

- Insert| 1 replyDo not accept anything from this company that may be given to you by your orthopedic surgeon or MD before first checking to see if you are able to get the same/similar item over the counter at a much cheaper price. The price is way too high for the junk they provide and if you try to return it thay give you the run-around because they know that you are not able to understand half of what they are telling you and will refuse to transfer you to someone else. Take my advice if a product from this company if offered to you refuse it and just go to you nearest mon n pop, WalMart, Kmart, WalGreens etc or you will be sorry. AWEFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OVER INFLATED PRICES FOR JUNK. I have told my MD and his office staff to NEVER even think of offering me any or their products ever again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- Pamela Cooke| 1 replyI am on a do not call list and never have received a cast--- have googled DJO and feel this is a scam -- Grandson received one for his arm and the bill was mailed with my name to their address - how they received my cell no is unknown to me.

- Sharon| 1 replyThis is not a scam. This is DJO which is a company which provides durable medical equipment for patients. In my case it was an ankle brace after a sprain a few months ago. The main problem I see with this company is they send invoices but do not show how much insurance paid on the bill - my bill was about $110 and my insurance deductible left me responsible for $95. They are pretty persistent about getting payment which is a bit of an annoyance, however, they are not a scam and are just looking to get paid for supplies they have provided.

- Scam ReporterI received a TENS unit from my local hospital physical therapy dept. They stated it was covered under Medicare and my 100% coverage supplemental, if I needed/wanted to keep it. Otherwise, it would be a rental for the first 30 days. I returned it, in the DJO supplied packaging ! Well within the 30 days and over 60 days before I suddenly got a 'bill' from them. . . . . Both insurances had paid.
I sent a cert/return receipt letter rejecting their demand as false, and demanded validation of the 'debt' in writing. Also pointed out I found NO business license for them in Idaho on the state site.
The phone harassment began today. NO mail response. FTC is the next response to them . . . .
DJO waits long enough for your memory and ability to dispute is dwindling regarding to situation.- Caller: DJO
