- Rebecca| 27 repliesRecorded call from "Molena and Woods" requesting me to call and speak with "Mr Reynolds" at ext 100, and using a "case number". Googling the phone number led me here. If a search doesn't produce a company, I do not return.
- Caller: "Molena and Woods"
- stgI had the same thing occur as Rebecca. I've tried spelling the name several ways and no luck.
- me64| 1 replyPretty much same as Rebecca's, only I think they said Morrin and Woods law firm. They are threatening with felony fraud charges over a supossed account my wife had thru Montgomery Wards. She did have an account but was closed years ago (like 20 years ago) We have done several credit reports and nothing comes up. This happened to us last year with a different firm name and was informed by many people that this is a common scam by collection agencys that buy up deliquent account lists that have exceeded the statute of limitations (7 years) and use this practice of scare tactic to extort money from people. Let's face it, if they can make you believe you are about to go to jail, some people will pay up. It's amazing how they say you owe so much money but will settle for less too. The scary thing about this last call is that they had my wifes SS#!!!!! And like Rebecca we have not found any validation of the company.

- KristinI just received a call from this number, same thing about "Mr. Reynolds" and ext. 100. The guy I spoke with told me he was a law student at Univ of Buffalo. Basically, he said he was calling on behalf of Maeno and Woods and that I was being sued for a past debt I had "settled with Marshall and Ziolkowski(another dirty collection agency I have since learned!) He told me that the amount that i settled with M&Z was basically null and void, and that they (M&Z) had obviosuly failed to tell me that I owed all types of additional fees and taxes and legal fees on the settlement i had with M&Z. It didnt sound right AT ALL, being that M&Z said that my settlement with them was an actual settlement but either way... The guy said he would go do some research and try to find a "loop hole to help me out..." blah blah blah... After my experience with M&Z, I know better than to believe anything these people say. I think the guy did call me back, but this time it was from 716-446-9307 (which is also a NY #). He didnt leave a message. This whole thing is a mess and I just want it to end! He tried to be super friendly, gain my trust etc... but I didnt give him anything, nor confirm anything. If anyone else gets a call from these people I'd definitely be interested to find out what turns out....
- Caller: Maleno and Woods
- meorginal call to my home # with a recording to call this number, and same as above ask for mr reynolds. called, they stated that my wife was being sued, and has a wage levy against her wages from a CC from over 10 years ago (over the statute of limitations). I said let me call you back. The state of PA does not allow any wage levy for any creditor garnishment, so I called back to tell them this and the gentleman started using foul language towards, me saying why are you 'f'ing with me, pay your 'f'ing bills you 'f'ing [***]**t....the most amazing thing I have ever heard, I hang up, and he calls me back from a buffalo, ny number of 716-446-9307, and again, i 'f' your wife, all kinds of stuff ! I am trying to contact the buffalo better business bureau to tell them about this, but not getting to far with anyone. maybe the cold weather up there has these mopes brains in the ass... i dont know...but save yourselves the trouble DONT EVEN CALL BACK ! they more than likely brought the debt out from the bank, and they want the money...mind you this was paid off about 8 years ago.

- tedthejanitorAfter reviewing the posts, listened to the voicemail from 888-231-8060 one more time and noticed the name of the agency is actually Moreno & Woods, While they do have a website, it is limited an email address for contact.
- Caller: Moreno & Woods
- Call type: Debt collector
- DEP| 1 replyReceived letter moreno & woods. 1900 empire blvd #252 webster ny,14580 said call 888-231-8060. Contact lisa smith. Relative died recently now this shows up. This is a scam. Some people are willing to lose their life .
- JDUB| 3 repliesThis number is definitely from a collection agency. They claim to be attorneys from Moreno & Woods, however if you do a google search, you will find them to be bogus. They do have a website but all you can do is leave them an email...very unprofessional for a supposed law firm. I spoke with Russell Tinsdale & Michael Taylor. They said that if I did not pay an old credit card balance from over 8years ago that they were going to take me to court. They sent me some documentation to try and settle before court, however the email address that they used was from MorenoandWoods@gmail.com...again if they were a real law firm, I doubt they would be using a google internet address. Bottom line is they are all talk and are not real attorneys.

- wac replies to JDUBI have been getting the same call. The first call was a person. Her name was Dona Quin. She left a message with my daughter.Like the rest of you it didn't sound right so I tried to see if I could find out who was calling me and why. Thanks for shareing.
- DEP replies to DEPI am contacting FBI. This in my book is organized crime.
- ec replies to JDUB| 1 replyYou're right; it's a scam. People need to remember that if someone calls and demands money to prevent an arrest or criminal charges, it is ALWAYS a scam. Always.
Consumers being targeted by these crooks should report them to:
1) Their local police deparment
2) The FBI at http://tips.fbi.gov or call the local FBI field office
3) Their state's attorney general, the contact information for whom is at www.naag.org
4) The Federal Trade Commission at https://rn.ftc.gov/pls/dod/wsolcq$.startup?Z_ORG_CODE=PU01
If they call again, give them nothing and tell them nothing other than that you've reported them to federal and state authorities. For more information on protecting yourself from outlaw debt collectors, check out these websites:

http://www.consumercounselgroup.com/ - jr| 7 repliesI received a call from Moreno and Woods about three months ago and it was reguarding a credit card that I used to have. The limit on the card was $2,500 and they said the balance was for like $4,500 - $5,000. They offered to DROP the balance for me and let me take an OPPORTUNITY to settle this out of court for the original balance. I thought about it and said I'm not paying them anything because I don't know who they are. So I stopped answering the calls and next thing I know I received paperwork saying that I was getting a Judgement placed against me for the $4,879 plus the court cost of $650. Now my wages are being garnished. When I called back to resolve the matter they told me there was nothing they could do. I would make sure that these bills they are calling you about can't come back to haunt you like mine did.

- KLLL| 3 repliesMoreno and Woods soon coming to a halt. Phone line being tapped, and bounty hunters going after these people for the reward. Going to get on film for everyone to enjoy.
- Lol replies to KLLL| 1 replyIts funny because I have no debt.
- somethings not right here... replies to jr| 5 repliesyou received paper work that said you were getting a judgement
placed against you and wages garnished just like that?
You didn't even go to court to defend yourself, get an attorney,
and tell your side?
Its my understanding that wages cannot be garnished in Florida.
I know people who would just Quit their job and move to Florida
for a new job.
unless you work for these people and just posting something
on their behalf... who knows? - jr replies to somethings not right here...| 4 repliesWhen I talked to my attorney he said that if the debt is on the credit report then I have to pay it. Unfortunately usually an attorney will tell you not to pay it because that is how he makes his money by me retaining him. So for him to tell me to pay it means that I really have to pay it. My problem was I ignored the fact and didn't show up to court. Even if I did go to court and told my side it would still state that I opened the card and paid on it for a couple years and then hit a bad time and couldn't pay the rest. Unfortunately when you sign the contract it states (in the fine print that we don't read) that if you fall delinquent that interest will accrue monthly and they have the right to come after us for up to ten times the balance if a judgement is placed. In my situation the judgement was placed for two times the amount plus court costs. I don't agree with how this works but If I would have known this then I would have just done the settlement in the first place. I guess we live and we learn.
- dep replies to LolThey keep trying to collect on a on a card that was never opened from citibank.Citibank said this not even issued by them, not their number. Had no debt also. Again these people are a FRAUD. Dont pay a dime to them.
- Jess| 4 repliesGot this same call. I contacted the FBI in US and they said it sound like a scam coming out of Canada. They said alot of these scams are either from Canada or Africa. They use Webster, New York as an address because it is right over the border. The Canadian Mountain Police are working on this scam.
- Caller: Moreno & Woods.
- bd| 5 repliesyeah.....like the fbi has time to look into something like this...its not like our country is in a stae of emergency or anything.....lol......pay your bills or at least do things the right way to get them resolved ...if we paid our bills when they are due then we cant get mad when people tell us to pay them...
