Calling to verify info for a credit card I applied for.  I have not applied for a credit card. I did call back I think it is a scam.

got same call I told her i would be calling police about her.

Yeah ok, it's legit, at least in my case- but weird. I applied for credit at Apple ('cause I'm SICK of windows...:) and Barklay handles their credit. They left a message on my machine to call them back @ 888-232-0776 with a certain reference number. I called the number they gave me and It was Barklay and they didn't know what I was talking about or why they would ask me to call them back. They checked the number that the caller called from and it was a legit Barklay number. (888-232-0780) I told the guy "Barklay is very disorganized, isn't it?" and he laughed. Then I checked my email and I was approved so I have no idea why they wanted me to call and neither does Barklay... Weird but wonderful.... :)

Called saying they were JetBlue Airlines regarding an application. Fraud.

I got a call from them and they left a voice mail to call the number onthe back of my visa. Fraud investigation.  Someone tried to use my credit card number.  It is legit.  Barclay Card.

Yeah they just called me too and it sounded sketchy so I said "how do I know this is really the bank?" And she promptly replied "that's okay you can call back" then hung up.

Called but didn't leave a message. We do have an inactive account that we are paying off, but when they call to 'remind' us, it shows up as Barclay. This didn't.

This number is a legitimate number used by Barclay Bank to verify the identity of applicants for credit cards.  They do leave a message on answering machines with a call-back number that also includes the reference number assigned to the card application.  However, the caller ID says only "800 service' which isn't especially helpful.

Keep in mind, just because the number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!

Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.

If it is a legitimate call, then anyone receiving a call would know WHY they got a call from this number, right?
So what would be a reason to come and post about it to a site designed to share information about UNKNOWN callers, such as Telemarketers, Scammers and Debt Collectors?

If your call was legit,  telling about it won't  be any comfort to those who may get a spoofed call from some scammer!

So, you applied for one of their cards.  They called and left a message.  At that point, you allegedly know who they were and what the call was about.  So you immediately decided to look up the number on the internet?  What would have been the reason for that?
