I decided to google it because I smelled a rat and sure enough - it's a BIG FAT SMELLY RAT!! Like the saying goes, "If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is!"
Many Thanks from South Beloit, IL. - RickThanks for all the postings.
Just pressed my 'Easy Button' and the letter slid off my desk directly into the trash.

- JamesReceived the same letter. At first, I was excited. Thank goodness for the internet and for people posting their experience with dealing with a scam artist. I think these idiots should be locked up in jail forever and the govt should make it a federal crime for these people to steal money.

Sometimes, the internet is a wonderful tool to catch these [***]. - benI too rec'd a letter and made the call. Red flag went up very quickly once speaking to the unprofessional on the other end. I googled the number and thanks everyone for confirming what I thought was a scam, is a scam.
- TabbyMy fiancee received the same letter a few days ago and, of course, was thrilled at the idea of possibly getting "thousands of dollars." I let him call, and I spoke to the man as well, but was not convinced. I did a little research, found an article on a FL news website and this post. I hate when people prey on those who could use the extra money and are desperate enough to try it! Now I have to go break the news to my fiancee that we won't be getting an extra thousand dollars to get us through the summer....
- Caller: No call- just letter.

MOM FROM CC. - Audit Scam replies to enough already| 1 replyReceived same letter and made the phonecall and let the gentleman goes through his well rehearsed talk. Was very quick to ask me for a credit card number to pay the $299 fee that would be returned if no refund was forthcoming. I advised him I would like to first read over the information he was going to be emailing. Well guess what - no email ever received. Watch out everyone there are more than one 888 phone numbers being given. However, same letter as one at bottom. No one should ever give anyone there cc information in answer to a letter with no logo/return address/or company name. If the offer sounds to good to be true it usually always is!
