- KathI received a phone call from this number 1-888-279-9221 at work. I did not answer is but was left a voice mail. I could not understand much of the voice mail but it sounded like a woman talking and I understood her to say "We're not going to open that can of worms, we're not going to go there."
- ChronicI got a call also from this number. I tried to listen to what ehy have to offer, I was very careful in answering the questions. I dont answer personal questions. They first said that i will get a free 1000 gift certificate for an online shipping but i need to pay for $5 shipping. I asked them if i needed to buy or pay anything at first then they said no. but later mentioned the shipping for $5. thewse guys are crazy. anyway, then they transfered me to another department and pretended that the departments line was busy but when the person became availabe it sounded like they just switched headset. HAHAHA. they that person started asking my complete name and wanted to verify my middle name and how my name appears on my credit card ( theses guys think im stupid to give it to them) i said i dont use a middlename. then they told me that their records show that my credit card expires on 2008 and if there are any updates to it (duh?) This is so fake. So i said bye Im not interested.
Im pretty sure they would find a way to ask wat my 3 digit security code is on my credit card by paying for the shipping of $5.
Stay away fromo these annoying Asss&%^*$@.

- B6| 1 replyOk so I just called them back at the number that they left on my answering machine which was not the same number that they called me on originally. I got some dude saying a won a $1000 dollar shopping spree and all he needed was some information. I asked him what exactly it was that I had won (I was drunk off my [***] and already knew this was a scam but looking for entertainment I tried to play him anyways.) He went on about all the stuff I could buy with the shopping spree money but failed to mention where I could shop from so I asked him " what websites will I be shopping from" to which he replied "well our gift department will handle that, I just need to know your name" to which I replied "Well you have my number and my name as left in the voice mail when you called me which by they way is halfway across the country in accordance with the number that you left me to call, so shouldn't you have my name and information all ready?" and he replied with "Ok I am going to transfer you to the gift department" after he said that i heard a click and some noise that sounded like I was being transfered somewhere and then a dial tone indicating that I had been hung up on.

- Mexican_In_Colorado replies to B6Ha Ha yup I just had them call me on my cell phone telling the same crap about wining a online shopping spree but only have to pay shipping and handling. First of all, I hate shopping! The girl then asked if I had a master card or any credit card, I told her no I didn’t and she then asked if I had a checking account, (they need something in order to qualify) and I answered no and she hung up. Ha ha losers
- t-boneClaim to be from "premium reader service". Called several times, first time I answered tolds them we are not interested. Called again, told them to stop calling that number. Guy said he'd do so... we'll see...

- XwI play on an MMORPG and they added this survey feature to get you points if you take surveys.
Most of them I put fake info on. I got a call from a private caller the next morning but didn't pick up in time. Later that day(five minutes ago)another number called. 888-279-9221. I picked up and I heard some noise in the background but they hung up. I called back and it said to wait as they got a representative. Some guy picked up, same noise in the background. He said I won a shopping spree but he had a hard time believing I was Barack Obama. I remembered putting that name down on a survey the day before. I then asked him about the shopping spree. He said I won one, not saying to where, and asked me how old I was. I lied saying 18 and he said I had to be 20 or older and then hung up. - MyCellphone hates U replies to monicaI got the same only that my phone says hi you've reached my cell phone leave a message and the guy just said my name and stayed on the phone 4 5seconds.
- Bthey called and hung up
- Dan| 1 replyGot a first call today while at work. I didn't pick up, as I was on my work phone, and I didnt know the number. They left a message - "Hi, this is Kathy with great news! Call me back at 888-279-9221, and have a good and blessed day." Being kinda pissed that I'd maybe be getting telemarketers on my cell phone, I deleted the voicemail and signed up for the donotcall list.
I've been called 6 times since, in about... 5 hours. Two of them from the 888-279-9221 number, 4 from Unavailable. Haven't answered once, certainly don't plan on answering anytime soon, but it's getting more than a little aggravating. - JTI missed a call from 888-279-9221 and, obviously, not a number on my list. So I had to check it out online on who/where it's coming from. It's a great thing I did.
- amandalaurie| 1 replyThey called me too. I'm gullable i guess. they got my bank card number and everything. What do I do?
- Caller: Unknown
- Don't AnswerThey have been doing this crap for years and years.
Its a Big Scam just to sell magazines.
Their "good news" is full of [***]
They are LIARS.You will not win anything ever!
They just want Your Money! Thats all. - BeckyI have received multiple calls from this number the past week and I haven't answered any of them.
- I anwere| 2 repliesI got a call from them today saying they were from Read America and her name was kelly brown and she gave me a number where I could reach her and I give back to her the last four digit as if I wrote it down. I do a lot of shopping online especially from black experssions (a book company) and assumed it was from them but then when I asked her where she got my name and number from she said they deal with various credit card companys. She preceeded to tell me I won a shoping spree but never said where but needed to varify my age so I told and her she need to varify my address so she read it off to me and I said ok and she transfered me to the gift department. They preceeded to ask me the same question so I told that lady that I didnt feel the need to answer the same question they should be in here computer. Then she told me they were going to send me some magazines but they need to varify my credit card number so she asked me what the first 4 digits of my credit card number was and I told her hold on let me go get it I left her on hold and never went back I knew then for sure that something wasnt write. So I got online and google the phone number and found this site. I see this scam has dated back to 2003 its amazing that they are still going strong. I hope more people are smart enough to realize the thing these people do to get your money and ruin your life.

- xMEGANx| 1 replyCalled me while I was at work, a man answered telling me I had won a $1000 shopping spree online at selectyourgift.com. I was sitting right at the computer and I typed it in to check it, the site does not exist. I informed him of this and he asked for my credit card # without responding to my comment, to cover a "small shipping fee" and I told him I did not have one.
He hung up promptly.
I called back to bother him and a lady answered. I told her her so called "prize site" did not exist and I would be more than happy to contact the FBI to report her for attempted identity theft and fraud. I too heard rap music in the background. I then asked for immediate verification of her company to see what she would say. She hung up.- Call type: Unwanted
- xMEGANx replies to amandalaurieYou idiot, freeze your bank account. Absolutely NO transactions unless it is from you personally. Tell the bank you may have given out info to a company suspected of fraud.
- xMEGANx replies to DanJust answer and tell them you dont have a credit card or a checking account.
They'll hang up and never call back, you're no good to them without one of those. - caskeeps calling will ignore ,
