They called my cell phone and I didn't answer, however I called them back and they answered "CBCS" (I think).  They were looking for someone I've never heard of.

Have received a few phone calls from this number. They never leave a message and never identify who they are, so I'm not calling back.

This number calls several times a week...really getting tired of it!! Someone needs to shut them down!

Called me a few times on my unlisted unpublished private work number.  Told them my number (and dont think for a second he wasnt staring at a caller ID screen too).  He told me who they were looking for, I said that this is a company, and we've never had one of those.

He said "no problem I will remove your number".   Remember though, he was probably looking at his CID screen and it backed up what I was saying.  Also helps that work is a TV station!

Another call, 24 hrs later, again asked to be removed, and also obtained mailing address for a cease and desist letter...

Believe it or not they call my sister she lives in far away in different town, and asked for me, my sister told me that they are looking for me, She said that he don't live with me, then they asked for my phone number she told them i don't think so, i have to ask him to give you the phone number, and don't call back at this number. She said let him know that we called and when he calls ask for Ashley. So I called they are asking for my phone number I entered then phone number and system said can't find it, enter you SS number Yah in their Dreams, No way  i'm not entering my SS. I hit 0 many times to see i system transfer my to a live person, No.... and big No system don't let me talk to a person. I tired many times didn't work.
its a scam and it should be taken care... any one ever talk to a person from CBCS or CVCS.

If they continue to call repeatedly, try this approach...Ask them if they are familiar with the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act)...it states in section 806 " a debt collector MAY NOT engage in any conduct the natural consequence of which is to harass, oppress, or abuse any person in connection with the collection of a debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a VIOLATION of this section": Section 806 Part 5 states "Causing a telephone to ring or engaging any person in telephone conversation repeatedly or continuously with intent to ANNOY, abuse or harass any person at the called number."
I guarantee you it will work and the calls will STOP!

Debt Collector, make sure you keep good records when dealing with them, and make sure you actually owe before paying them!

Got a call from them, let it go to vmail.  Odd recording.  I know it's for an old AT&T bill.  I've been out of work for 2 years and am back in college for a different degree hoping it will increase my chances of getting a job!  I've been paying off AT&T a little at a time, and I NEVER pay this collection agency directly.  Spoke to them about a week after I'd made a payment directly to ATT.  They said they had no record of a payment being made to them or AT&T.  Called them out on their scam and have refused to deal with them since.

I have been receiving calls from this number for two weeks.  I took the advice of a post below and called them back.  Said they were looking for someone named Shirley and that they would take my number off their list.

Message ... looking for 'Nicole' ... caller said his name was Tom. Never heard of this Nicole.   I called back and asked that this number be removed from list.

Collection company trying to collect on AT&T bill that I do owe. (Well, according to AT&T I owe it; I don't agree with it.)

This # keeps calling for a Jeffrey Spielman of whom I am not.

Calling for Charles E Chapman. Definitely not me or even close to me last name.

I keep recieving calls from this number.  Dont they know they can not leave messages about collections for someone when they can not confirm the person who they are leaving a message for.
I have tried calling this person back and of course they give you the run around.  What can be done about this I live in Florida

Well if they are collectors for AT&T then they are sh**-outta-luck with me.  My AT&T accounts have been more than current for three years now; I say "more than" because I pay two months at a time, and not once in the past three years have I missed a payment on either account.  They just called my cell - since I am in a job training class I did not answer - and surprise surprise, no voice mail.  I will answer when I can and will call back to inform them that they are in violation of Section 806 of the FDCPA.  Then I will get their address and mail a certified letter to them ordering thrum to cease and desist.
