I got a call from them today, I called back.  They asked for someone not me, I told them I just got this cell phone about 2 to 3 months ago, which is true, they then said okay we'll take you off the list.  Very polite lady....but after reading all this...I'm expecting more calls, lol....if they keep calling, I'll just start having fun with them.

They call for someone with a name that I nor the automated message can pronounce correctly, I had managed to get in contact with them last fall and sorted out that they were calling the wrong phone, stopped for a while. Since a few weeks ago they've been calling irregularly for the same person.

They never specify in the message who they are.

    Good Friend
I received a call from this number on my cell and they were looking for a friend of mine who never lived with me.  I'm not sure how they got MY number, but I contacted my friend and gave him the number to call.  He determined that it was a company looking to collect for an AT&T phone bill from like 4 years ago!  He says he had received NO prior attempt to get $ from him for said bill.  He called AT&T and found out that there actually might be some $ owed.

With all of these people claiming that the caller was looking for someone other than THEM, I suspect that these people were used as REFERENCES by the person owing the $ or were just unlucky enough to have gotten a number previously belonging to the debtor or friend of the debtor...

I'm not sure of the laws, but being a person with some business background I can understand that these companies need to collect this $ from people who have been irresponsible & not paid their bills.  If my [***] friend put me as a reference to get the AT&T phoneline, he should have told me he did it, too.  I have received ZERO calls from them since that one.

Me too!! I disputed these charges with AT&T and it was resolved.  Keep in mind the bill with AT&T was only around $90.00, but the collections agency said I owed them over $250.00.  They have got to be crazy if they think I am paying them!!!!

Received a call this morning.  They did not leave a message  I returned their call.  A female answered but did not identify herself or the company.  She told me she was looking for Ms. Boilinder.  No one at this workplace by that name.  I let her know the number she called was a business.  Let's see if they call back.

Getting calls from 888-325-3826 the person who you couldn't make out what they were saying by the person they are looking for isn't at the number they are calling. There looking for someone else - by the name I don't even know the female they're looking for.

They call and talk to the answering machine like it is a person saying if this isn't the person (?) press option  "if this is not X press # ".  Then they insist "?" (the perosn that they are looking for) needs a call-back from us.   It is to bad that they talk to an answering machine that can not hang up or press the option that they say to do.  Next stop  State Atty Gen if this collection agency does not stop harrassment of the WRONG PEOPLE !

Not sure what they are wanting I take it has a collector.

These people continue to call me! I have never received any mail regarding what this is about. It's a collection agency trying to collect a debt. Since there were several fraudelent reports on my credit reports that have been removed and/or investigated, thye are wasting their time. A message is NEVER left on my voice mail, so I called them on my cell phone. They asked me for my account number. I reported them to the BBB of Central Ohio and they have until June 26 to respond.

I too keep getting these annoying calls. This time it was "Maria" again, but calling from 1-888-325-3826. She left a message to call her at 1-866-658-9360 (so, if you get a call from either number, you know that they are associated). I called her back. Nobody answered, and I was never able to even leave  message. Then I calledthe 1-888 number. A guy answered, and I told him about messages left by this "Maria", and that I had nothing to do, or never had for the matter, with Verizon. He then said they ..."-had nothing to do with Verizon" ! I told him that I have recorded all the messages left, and even our conversation, to report it to the police as harrassment. He asked me my number, to delete it from their list, at which point I told him to stop bothering me. All he could say was "-Calm down, please, calm down". I hung up on him. Yes, I will definitely calm down when they stop harassing me. One more call, and I am going to call the police with all their messages.

And for you, CBCS/Verizon or whatever you wan to call yourself, make sure you find good skiptracers, because so far, you are off!!!

    Keep calling
They have several different 800, 866. and 888 numbers, they also call from cell phones. They do that so they can get around the limited calls law. They have several PO Box's also, so people cannot send them their cease, and desist letters. They pull all of the peoples records to see if and how they can get a hold of the person they want to get a hold of. IE: friends, family, co workers, place of business a person works at, or worked at, old phone records, so they can go through the list of calls and call the people on the list, even if it the person called them once. They want to change the laws that are in place right now, so they can get more information about a person: their cell phone numbers, their email address' you name it, and also to be able to have the people they are calling be held accountable, like paying a fine, etc., for being rude to them on the phone or in a letter. Oh, and by the way CBCS is the last usually that gets hold on these accounts, they BUY mass past due accounts with telecommunications companies, the medical field etc.. Example: they will buy AT&T's past due accounts over a year old or so, then they go after the people to get their money and charge extra for their services, while AT&T and other companies have already written those accounts off and gotten paid for them.  Just not answer your phone, turn the ringer off. They will not stop till they get their money, regardless if it is for you, or for another person and they have the wrong phone number, or name. When they call and talk with people, and the people say they are not this person they believe that person is lying to them. They'll stop calling for awhile, then if they cannot find the person they are really looking for, they will start up again calling that number back. Also, CBCS has been sued on two different lawsuits that I know of and lost, having to pay millions of dollars in damages, they do not belong with BBB so it does no good to contact them to help resolve an issue through BBB. They do not care, all they want is money and that's the bottom line. Good luck to everyone trying to make them pay attention, and listen to what you have to say

The number is that of a collection agency.  I just purchased a pay-as-you-go SIM card number from ATT, apparently that number belonged to someone who did pay their bills so the collection agency was calling that number.  I just called them back told them I just purchased the phone number and asked to be removed from the collection list.

I believe this outfit has a mole in the phone company (AT&T or SBCGlobal). They have called my sister's psychotherapist looking for me, and they've also tried some of her friends.  The ONLY path leading from me to my sister's psychotherapist is that she has occasionally (but rarely) called her therapist from my phone to change an appointment.  There's no way to trace that circuitous relationship between me and her therapist other than through a list of my telephone toll calls.   Surely spying on me and my outgoing calls is an illegal practice but there's no way to prove what they're doing.

And, by the way, I've never received a letter from them!

AT&T. After physically visiting their store and asking them, "what do I owe you, I am moving out of town and, I want to close this account", and after quoting me the amount, and me paying it on the spot in full, and being TWO YEARS, beyond the terms of my contract with them and rolling it over month to month, and two years after I relocated they have the audacity to demand more money and, tack on outrageous penalties and interest on a "disconnect fee" they falsely say I owe. That amount has now spiraled out of control and out of reach and into an enormous amount many hundreds of times the original amount THEY falsely claimed I owed. I will NEVER contract with AT&T again. They are simply to big and powerful an entity to contest and now my credit is ruined through no fault of my own. They are too huge and cumbersome and stymied in company policy and can't admit that they made a mistake.

This is not an isolated incident, or some kind of mistake.

My wife also sent a payment inadvertently to a different division of AT&T. True its her fault but, they tacked on outrageous penalties and interest onto her account, claiming they could not divert money from the other division to the right division. They did not want to send her the money back either. Eventually after YEARS of phone calls and filing grievances against AT&T they sent her a check back so she could re-submit it to the right division, dropping all incurred charges against her account. Point being,..They are simply too big to provide good customer service anymore, and too greedy to offer a economical friendly product.

AT&T immediately takes a hostile approach to collections, on trumped up charges that probably are not even legally incurred. They make stuff up and act upon it. We have had approximately five different accounts with them at different times in the last 15 years, and we have had trouble with ALL of them. We have finally learned our lesson and gotten rid of them. Although I do not have Vonage, the Vonage commercial comes to mind with the guy standing in front of an enormous pile of waded up phone bills, talking about his phone company saying, "this huge enormous bill" with complete disgust in his voice,
that is how I feel about AT&T.

We now are completely free of AT&T and will never do business with them again. This fact seems to be completely lost on AT&T, that if you treat people this way, you may not HAVE any customers eventually.

Unfortunately the calls from this collection agency continue 2 and 3 times a day. I do not answer and never will. I can only hope to pass on my experience with AT&T, and give fair warning, "Beware of AT&T. You will be financially destroyed and harassed by them for years."
