Ok, this is a strange company record. According to their web site, they are located in Atlanta, Ga and have been in business since 1955.
Now the BBB gives them an A+ rating with 1044 complaints and 3 negative reviews (how does that pan out) They also say that the business was established in 1950, that they are headquartered in Washington State, and that they are registered with the Washington Dept. Of Revenue: http://www.bbb.org/western-washington/busines ... enton-wa-501066
So if you go to the Washington State web site and look up their corporation, it indicates that they were formed in 2013:
CONVERGENT OUTSOURCING, INC.
UBI Number 603319184
Category REG
Profit/Nonprofit Profit

Now that is the corporation that is active, the other corporation with that name is inactive but was owned by the same person:
UBI Number 600059082

Bizapedia has them as forming in 1972 and still active, although that date would apply to the inactive corporation (confused yet? I am): http://www.bizapedia.com/wa/CONVERGENT-OUTSOURCING-INC.html
Now read this, and follow the link to learn more and file a complaint:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of the date of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office. - unknowncallerKeep in mind some of these are the result of the sender/caller to collect on junk debt they purchased for pennies on the dollar. Much of the junk debt is not collectible because the statute of limitations has expired, but if you acknowledge the debt you may be stuck. They may attempt to take you to court if the amount is large enough. Check all of the major credit reporting agencies to see if they have attempted to put old debt back on the books and be aware of potential "default" judgments they have received at old addresses because you were sent a summons to court to an address without forwarding (LAST KNOWN ADDRESS).NEVER speak with them or respond AS IT CAN BE CONSTRUED AS A LEGAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT THAT YOU OWE THE DEBT! This is commonly known as "ZOMBIE" debt.
Seek advice from an attorney if you have any questions or doubts.- Caller: junk "zombie" debt owner
- Call type: Debt collector
- Not-Today replies to Dr.BuzzardWhat you said!! 👍👍👍
- Not-Today replies to pacificGot the same exact address on a 3-sided sealed letter envelope. (You know the kind like you'd get a new bank PIN number or whatever I side of. Gotta rip 3sides off it, etc.)
PORTFOLIO RECOVERY OUT OF KNOXVILLE TN
THIS IS A JUNK DEBT PURCHASER. IN TN, if the debt is not secured--and you don't SPEAK OR COMMUNICATE TO THESE SCUM$UCKS, THE SOL IS 4 (YES FOUR) yrs. Secured debt (ie house, cars, motor homes etc) is SEVEN YRS. So $UCK 'Em!
I'ma mail it back to the f*ckers saying, "Sorry--this was destroyed by the mail, but I don't know that person..."
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Bass-Bags. GOD I FREAKIN HATE PORTFARTIO RECOVERY. Snake-eyed muh-fuhs!
The "CDPRAS01" stands for:
"Collection Debt, Prickfolio Rectovery Section 01" meaning it's their first mailing on the subject. - CDPRAS01Just got a letter from them, addressed to someone other than the owner of the property. Mark out the to address and the bar-code and write Unknown by owner of property.
- Caller: POS

- Kelvin weaver replies to jerryHow long did it take for them to take care of your bill for you ??
- :larry replies to unsure 82Search fair credit law. .collection agencies
- Junchuriki replies to pacific| 2 repliesThe Wixom MI is in the return address. The debt collector's address in the letter you receive is different. This means there are 2 addresses and this is in violation of the Fair Debt Collection Protection Act, a federal law that does not allow a 3rd party to be involved in the collection of a debt. Because the collection agency uses a Michigan return address, this implies a 3rd party. In the FDCPA this is a violation of section 807 (14). The "true name" has to be used. Obviously if a debt collection agency is using a return address in Michigan then that address is not the "true name" of the collector, and this is a violation that can be pointed out to the collector.
- A friend replies to bare.soul| 1 replyThe Attorney General. It sounds like they are committing fraud by use of the USPO.
- BigA replies to A friendOr perhaps, just read my post right above yours and learn where to actually report it, besides your state attorney general's office.
- Ed| 1 replyRecv'd an envelope addressed to the prior occupant of the apartment that I moved into. The return address is 'ONROSS10, PO BOX 1022, Windom, MI 48393-1022'. It's a security envelope & after reading the other posts, I intend to mark it 'moved, no forwarding address' & put it back in the mail!
- CelticDragon replies to EdCan I ask how that relates to this thread?
- Paulypur replies to JLRYour incorrect sir. Sol on contracts 6 yrs to 7. Judgment stays for 20 yrs. That is for Bankruptcy. I was an attorney who handed these kinds of improprieties. They paid for bad debts. Now they want what they are no longer intitled too. So, addresses corrections believe or not the post office throws the return mail you place return to sender in garbage. They can bot collect after statue runs or even b4. U cant get blood from a stone. They would have to get a judgment first. And since its pass the sol the courts will not allow them to secure a judgment. 1 they start lawsuit 2 they win 3 they have to go get a judgment. It cost more 4 those three steps when they already knew they purchased bad debts. Listen to the guy below. He sums it up.
- Art replies to JLROnly 3 years in Arkansas, if mention to Judge in Court of the limitations of the Original Debt. Judge throws it out, If it is more than 3 years!!!!!
- DJ replies to Tamianth| 1 replyI wonder about the BBB part as they are known to take monetary bribes for rating considerations.
- SkipTraceBuster replies to Junchuriki| 1 replyAnd to double down they are using a fictitious name " CDPPAS01" to get you to think it is not a debt collector. They do this because many people send them back return to sender. The tear off style envelope this person described is a tactic to make it impossible for you to RTS after opening because it is not in a standard envelope.
PRA are scumbags and will try hard to find you. Don't make it easy. Also SOL for unsecured debt is different in each state so check you state's laws and don't just take someone on this forum's word for it.
After SOL they still can try to collect and actually do try. Never admit this was your debt but SOL is over. Depending on your state and the judge you can reset you clock. Always challenge the debt is not yours and if it is out of SOL. Just ask for cease and desist in writing indicating that this debt is not yours and it is also out of the SOL. You may have to challenge with the credit bureaus using the same communication that this is not your account and it is also out of SOL and demand that the entry be removed. - BigA replies to SkipTraceBusterSo much misinformation in this thread it isn't even funny.
"And to double down they are using a fictitious name " CDPPAS01" to get you to think it is not a debt collector." The debt collector is not legally allowed to identify itself on the outside of the envelope as a debt collector.
"Also SOL for unsecured debt is different in each state so check you state's laws and don't just take someone on this forum's word for it." Yes. and except in Wisconsin and Mississippi it only applies to the time they have to sue you.
"Depending on your state and the judge you can reset you clock. " another urban myth, only making a payment can reset the clock.
"Always challenge the debt is not yours and if it is out of SOL. " always ask for debt validation period regardless of whether it is out of SOL. This way you have a paper trail of the FDCPA violations.
"You may have to challenge with the credit bureaus using the same communication that this is not your account and it is also out of SOL " Now we are in a different set of laws. You can file a dispute with the credit bureau(s) but SOL has nothing to do with reporting requirements. That is 7 years or in the case of bankruptcy 10 years.
Now I will provide you with my references. Please read and try to comprehend them before giving advice like you just did,

FDCPA: https://www.ftc.gov/enforcement/rules/rulemak ... ctices-act-text
FCRA: https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/sites/default/fi ... porting-act.pdf
CFPB: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ - Tamianth replies to DJTrue, but its a "Paper Trail" and looks good - this is why I advocate one should follow through.. as we know they will get bad press with those complaints as well.
I use the complaints to get a feel for the company in my research.. Their reply's (or not) often show what kind of FDCPA violators they really are! - Lori| 1 replyI am lost with all of these responses. When you get a letter from these people, IS IT actually debt that you owe? I don't believe in a statute of limitations, if you owe...you owe. In my eyes and how I've lived my life, I consider paying a debt until it's been paid in full. Is this a real or fraudulent collection agency?
