    They have been calling me for 4 months. I have talked to a sherrie owens and a david lopez. He was rude would not give me an address or said could not taking payment by mail. Sorry to that idiot I was trying to get a address to sue you. I have talked to a real collection agency and attorney. They can not threaten you with arrest or court over the phone. If I do get a legitimate address I will sue them. The address they gave me is 20 f st washington dc 20001. It is not their address .

    I received almost the exact same thing.  I thought it sounded funny.  If it were a complaint, usually, a formal complaint letter would be sent out.  This is the first link on the Google Search that I got when I searched for 888 347 2365.  Ridiculous!  And I got this call Saturday morning.

    Well Mr. James Howard, you sure are a busy man as you not only called all the other smart people in this complaint chat but you contacted a Federal Agency and this RETIRED POLICE OFFICER of thirty years will be filing its own complaint against you and your Global Connection (or whatever you idiots call yourself for this week) with a REAL AGENCY. I have an IDEA....work as HARD at a REAL JOB that you do to SCAM other REAL AMERICANS and you might actually make an HONEST LIVING ! By the way, when you get a chance READ EXODUS 20:8 in the HOLY BIBLE.

    Just like all of you, I too received a call today from James Howard, District Arbitration. It was a pre-recorded voicemail that was left saying I had 48 hrs to call and settle the issue. I have or had no idea what this could have been about since the call was so out of the blue! I recently got a speeding citation and thought it could have been about that. Anyhow, I looked up the number since the ticket was in another city about 2 hours away... and the call came from Durham NC.

    I also just received a call from James Howard with District Court Arbitration.  He left a case number and said I had 48 hours to settle or they were going to proceed.  Well... Proceed.  This is another in a long line of scammers trying to get money from me for debts which are not valid.  I caved once a couple of years ago.  These guys smelled blood in the water.  Well, guess what... I'm not as gullible as I was and I've been doing my homework.  Take me to court.  I've got evidence showing your illegal debt collection practices.  Good luck!

    Why do I even have a landline?
    Same as most of you, James Howard, district court, -no district specified- left me a message saying there was a claim against me and I had forty eight hours to reply. What a scummy way to snag people.

    I appreciate this website and what you do. I intend to report the call and ignore any more calls from this number.

    I also got 2 calls, first in early April, second today from 919-724-4568 and telling me to call the same 888 number (different case number at least). probably because my cell phone has a 919- number even thou I haven't lived in North Carolina for some time--the use a 'local' number to sound more threatening.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    I received a call today from a James Howard stating that he was from the District Court Arbitration and he left a case number told me to call back to a 1-888-347-2365 however when this guy called he called from a 919 724-4568, I am finally caught up on all my debts and they are paid off so I know this is a SCAM, they will not be receiving a phone call from me because I want nothing to do with this low life scum!! You Mr. Howard need to get a real job and a life. When people are obtaining collection they don't use so many scare tactics get a hint you need to be arrested for scamming hard working people out of their money.

    No Way
    I got a call from 213-261-0218 on my cell phone.  Robo voice identified itself as James Howard left a case no. 457039 from "District Court" with call back no. of 888-347-2365.  Needless to say, I did not call back.  The 213 number is a Los Angeles phone number and the District Court will not even answer a phone call let alone call anyone.  This is definitely a scam and an annoyance.

    Criminal cases don't go to arbitration -- they proceed, go to plea bargaining with the District Attorney, or are dropped by him.  And If someone demands payment in a non-traceable form (other than in cash directly to a court) to settle a criminal case, the real criminal is probably on the other side of the phone from you.

    I just had the same stupid message. From an attorney. Don't pay attention to these "scam calls" if there a legal matter pending against you. You will be formally notified and the person representing the legitimate entity has to I'd itself.

    IGNORED CALL FROM IDIOTS
    I have been our of town for two weeks, when I returned received a message on my answering machine from the rude sounding James Howard. He stated he was calling about arbitration which was going to be filed with district court if I did not return his call concerning possible litigation within 48 hours.

    Obviously this idiot does not even know his legal terms and does not know what arbitration is....or for that matter litigation.  It was definitely a form of intimidation designed to scare uninformed people. Well needless
    to say I did not return his phone call and the sky did not fall while I was out of town. I am thankful for finding
    their number on this site to confirm what I thought was a scam!

    I just received a call from a local number....786-358-5242. I answered it thinking it might be one of my kids calling from another number. It turned out to be a recording stating his name is James Howard from the District Court Arbitration and that I must reply within 48 hours or I would be arrested. It gives you an option to hold to speak to someone or to call 1-888-347-2365 and refer to case#365908. I waited to speak to someone to see what the hell this was all about and suddenly a man answered and identified himself as a "detective". I told him that he had the wrong number and he hung up on me.  I'm so sick of these low life people that are so petty that they make a living scamming other people that have real jobs and actually work for a living.  GO GET A JOB LOSER!!!!

    Mr Western NY
    I also received this prerecorded call from the James Howard office.
    It basically said the same thing but with a different case number.
    Stated I had 48 hours to make contact.  Funny thing, it never once
    mentioned what account or credit card this is for. If it were ligitimate
    they would have put more thought into this phone call and not have
    a prerecorded call such as this. Has Scam written all over it!!
