    This number 888-393-7163 has been calling me and telling me I own them some money.  They asked me if I would like to make payment over the phone.  I don't owe BML a penny, so why paying over the phone? Gone over this months back in the past. They could not tell me their identity or mine info on their stupid screen.

    If this is Pay Pal's Bill Me Later I have NO idea why they have been calling me.  I have used Pay Pal once before Xmas 2013 but NOT Bill me later as they wouldn't let me.  So I put it on a credit card.

    No caller ID. Only the number,
    Automated call that says:
    "Please hold for the next available agent".

    NO.
    I did not call you and will not hold.
    If they were professional there would be a live person on the line when In answered,

    Mos likely a scam aimed at Senior Citizens.

    This number is NOT Bill Me Later.
    I do not have a Bill Me Later account, and I have been getting these calls nonstop. I went to the Bill Me Later website, called them up and verified that this is absolutely NOT one of their numbers.

    My 72 y/o father received a call from this #.  Luckily he has visual voicemail and this is the context of that automated message left:

    Voicemail from (888) 393-1964
    "Hi my name is Sarah Lopez calling you from the tax department at the Internal Revenue Service is. This is to inform you that we have received a legal petition against your name concerning the tax evasion attacks from before this matter goes to the federal-court-house(?) before you get arrested by the County Sheriff's officers kindly call us back. Our number which is 8883931964 and I repeat 8883931964. Don't disregard this message and do return the call to the situation goes worse for(?) you. Thank you and have a wonderful day."

    Granted it is not the most accurate system, but it gives the gist of the call.  Mind you he is not behind on any taxes, and does not use Bill Me Later services.

    I got this call today, no response when I answered. I do have a BML account, so I'm glad I found all this info out. I registered for the Do Not Call list (probably won't help stop the calls) and will block the number.

    I received a scam phone call from this number at my private/inside office line (which I never give out on my personal accounts for any reason).  They were requesting payment on a past due amount of well over $3,000 for a service I have never used.  They claimed I own the account because someone else linked their info to my account - but I have never authorized such an incident.  When pressed to provide detailed bills and past orders that were not paid, the line went dead.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    •Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    That Bill Me Later promotion works just like any other bill. You have a payment due EVERY month. It's not a buy what you want now then pay for it in 6 months. You pay every month with no interest & if you pay it off before the 6 months are up then you wont have to pay interest. There is no such business or company in existence that will all you to buy something & NOT pay for it for 6 months.

    If this is a creditor trying to collect a debt, leave a message as I do not answer numbers I do not recognize.  I should not have to google your number to find out who you are and then when I return your call to this number cannot get through.
