The same [***] thing just happened to me 39.87 dollar charge on my account from the same damn number, I really dont wanna have to go through all this fraud claims crap.

I also had 39.87 charged to my account. i called the 888 number and spoke to someone with terrible quality in the phone connection. I asked her why my account was charged $39 and all she did was start cancelling my "account" and told me that i would not be charged any more. and when i asked for  a confirmation number all she said was that "My name would do just fine" and her name was Nancy? So i wrote that down and sent my bank a dispute against this. But i think they want me to write a letter to their fraud department???? F**KING LAME!!!!!!! why are the bank helping these fools! Just give us out hard earned money back!!!!!!!!!

um, just curious, do all of you buy subscriptions to internet porn sites? because that sounds like you bought a subscription to a site that was one of those "$1.00 for the first day, then a reoccuring charge of $38.99/month for ever on if you don't cancel." I'm betting you guys all bought porn, forgot about it and then got charged a month later for the next installment.

I did actually just make a purchase from ebay! And thenn i was checking my accounts and saw this charge for 38.99

Charged me the same amount today.  And no, I have never purchased anything from EBay with the card they charged.

When I called they told me they'd happily refund my account if I gave my name.  When I asked what company they represented, she refused to answer and suggested I needed to check my records to see who I authorized to charge me.  Hung up on me when I asked to speak to the supervisor.  I'm really pissed!

i just got one on sunday and didnt notice it till today. 39.88 from the same number...was on hold for  30 min then they hung up without even answering, then i called again and was on hold another 45 min and finally got pissed and gave up...im going to the bank in the morning.

**Update**
After discussing this with my bank, they recommended that I cancel my card. I told them I had just activated a new replacement card and I would now like a NEW card with a WHOLE NEW number. Fraud dept says that is the best approach to recommended to anyone I knew of this happen to. Request a new card with a new number, not just a card with different expiration date.

I am in India and I keep buying things on the internet but always from varified sites like ebay, rediff, amazon etc. I have also activated varified by visa on my card. I really  do not understand how the transaction was allowed online without my verified by visa password.

Is the CC company also part of this fraud?

I got a charge for $38.99, and called the number, they said they would reverse the charge, but would not identify themselves.  Said they only handle cancellations..

The $39.87 charge on my card "originated" from AZ.  My bank stated that the biller was named Recreational Activities.  Has anyone else received info from their bank as to the biller's identity?

My best advice for anyone who was billed fraudulently is to contact your card provider/bank immediately, cancel your credit/debit card, and file a claim with your card provider/bank (affidavit of fraudulant charges).  It may be a hassle, but at least it will be documented and hopefully make it more difficult for the scammer in the future.

After thinking about it further, I have used this card to make a purchase through PayPal.  As far as I know, PayPal is still a part of EBay.  So maybe there is a connection with this fraud and EBay/PayPal?

Just spoke to my bank, and waiting for their decision and further recommendations.

Just called. Talked to an foreign women. Gave then my name, e-mail and phone number. Don't know if I should have done that though. Oh well, any future problems that may arise with them, they will get the hammer thrown down on them.  Told me I would be refunded my money, Better f***** refund my money. That's bull. I make online purchases quite frequently. Don't know how my info could have been leaked. Just goes to show you the kind of people that live in this world.

Does anyone know of an email address or a phone number to call to get a hold of these [***]???  I have no contact information for them.

I got the same recreational activities listing from my bank, charged me $38.99 plus an international fee as I'm in Australia. Obviously a scam as i havent bought anything in the US, or on ebay, for years.

I have also had a similar experience as the rest of you, I was billed $38.99.  I called the number, the guy had no idea what this charge is for, then said he couldn't find my information/account; but canceled it anyway....What!?...He said the name of the company he works for is "Online Membership Services"...I asked what the charge is for, he said he didn't know, "It is for an online purchase". Okay, so what is the name of the company charging me? He didn't know. So I asked, how is it possible that you are a third party billing company, which takes money from the customers account and gives it to a business, but you don't know what the business is? He said (I am not making this up) "That's a good question". Then I was told I would get a refund in 10-15 business days. So I then asked if I was going to get a conformation email or something. He said no and told me his name as conformation; which sounded like he was making it up "Mark Ray"...So yeah, changing my card number in the morning!

I just discovered this same $38.99 on my bank account. No clue what it is. Called the number, talked to a woman, could hardly understand her because it was a bad connection. She could not tell me what the charge was for, only that they provide services for other companies. She asked for my email address, I gave her BOTH of my emails and my information did not come up. After putting in my name, she brought up my "account." I told her to refund this charge and cancel the account. She did so while I was on the phone. No idea how long this is going to take to get back onto my account or if it actually will be refunded. We'll see.

I received this charge today for 38.99 and shortly after received another charge from some place in Vegas for 37.99.  I just spoke with my bank and they have closed my card and informed me they will be mailing me another one but I can get a temporary card tomorrow morning.  I bought something from a guy in wisconsin a few weeks ago on ebay and although everything went well and the product was good i have noticed some strange purchases on my card and just figured it was a website i joined in january but quickly cancelled due to it not being what i wanted.  I went back and double checked that I had cancelled and had the emails to prove it.  Wells Fargo was very helpful and hopefully this week it will all be taken care of.
