- Jim replies to K. Peterson| 1 replyThey did? That's a surprise to me because I've told them repeatedly to take my number off their list and when I say I've done so I always get a snotty "Oh, did you?" from whatever jackhole is calling. And still the calls come. Make me wonder if it's a scam.

- Jeff in MDShockingly, these fools called yet again today. Not once, not twice but thrice! I have posted and posted here about how many times they call me but I can't seem to shake them.
What doesn't work:
Politeness
Reasoning
Requesting to be removed from the list
Asking why they need to call here so many times
Telling them about 800notes and reading my (and others) complaints
Surliness
Indifference to their calls
Yawning, belching, screaming and other bodily noises
Allowing my youngest child to answer and having her sing a song
Placing them on hold and walking away
Hanging-up
Blowing a whistle (unannounced) into the phone
Verizon would not block this number since it is toll free (they pay - so delivery to me must be assured)
I am not willing (nor will be forced) to change my phones or phone numbers and am starting to become more than very annoyed.
I have requested MULTIPLE times to be removed, It has been promised many times but never fulfilled. They have told me to call another number which turned out to be disconnected (and therefore not posted here) to "request" removal. Why do I need to call multiple numbers and make numerous requests to cease this harassment?
I'm at my wits end with these people. From this point, I am going to find out precisely where these calls are originating from in my local area. I suspect from DC where someone posted it was the DC/MD/VA Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America in DC
I am now going to call them directly, and if necessary, sue them. I live in one of DC's most well-to-do neighborhoods (which, I suspect is one of the reasons this area is targeted). My brother is an attorney and it will cost nothing to me but a small amount of his time and a few filing fees to repay them for my wasted time. (brother will be happy to do it he says).
If my call to them is unsuccessful, and the calls continue, we will file a the appropriate paperwork in the DC and MD court system since the calls come to both my DC registered cell and my MD registered land line. Reality would say that this is probably a losing proposition but I will compile the evidence against them i.e. phone records and as of today (at the advice of my mouthpiece), I will begin call recording and inform them of the fact for each and every call. This fight will not be about money per se but about common sense and respect for one's privacy and the desire not to be called even by an alleged non-profit who somehow thinks that exemption from the do not call list give them a license to harass people. Woe to you if you turn out to be a for profit shill for this foundation.
I have the money and means and am looking for only one result: To not be called by you or your representative organizations in any form.
If this results in a monetary loss or wastes your time, all the better but in the end my only real goal is for the calls to cease.
STOP CALLING. I mean every word of this posting. In the end, you WILL stop! - LavenderCheck it up, the donation bag that is sent to your mail box 2000L Street NW Suite 410 - does not match the Lupus Foundation at Suite 415. It's a 'charity fund raising' who give a portion to Lupus Foundation. Who knows how many %. Wish it makes it clear.

Caller ID says UNAVAILABLE. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize. Leaves a voicemail, but doesn't say anything.
Called the number back, it is the Lupus Foundation. I went to Lupuspickup.org, put in my zipcode, clicked on the "Contact Us" button in the upper right and submitted the following:
"Would you kindly remove my phone number from your database? I would like to use the online tool if I have any items to pick-up. Thank you so much and have a wonderful holiday season!"
Hope this works.- Caller: Lupus Foundation

- SamanthaYeah, yeah, charities are exempt from the Do Not Call list. You would think that any reasonable charity would honor the DNC list anyway, since it's obvious that we don't want begging calls. The only solution is to tell everyone NEVER, EVER give ANYTHING to ANYONE who cold calls you.

Let’s dissect the above message shall we:
If WE don't want people to speak proper English, WE will refer them to you.
Your advice and commentary are completely ridiculous and without merit. Lets entertain for a moment, your suggestion. Telemarketer, Bill Collector or Lupus [***] calls. We ask them to please respect our wishes to not be disturbed and to be removed from their calling list. They respond by indicating that they are (for whatever reason) exempt from the Do Not Call list and will continue to harass you despite your request not to bothered anymore.
Your suggestion is that we (the people being harassed and inconvenienced) should "get rid of phone".
I'm assuming you really meant get rid of THE phone, but there's that pesky English language thing creeping back in again. So in other words, - creeps, scammers, and alleged charities manned by illiterates such as yourself should be allowed to call unimpeded and have your messages and mindless agendas accepted by us no matter what our objections to them would be? We should just sit idly by the phone and cheerfully listen to all the drivel and nonsense you're spouting then unquestionably accept it and pay out to any scheme you devise with a credit card or check by phone. You are living in a fantasy land!
Ok, I will now stop complaining like a child and make it much more clear to you. Try and follow the language I know it may be difficult...
My rejoinder to your comment is as follows: F-YOU !! - tkMy phone numbers " Under DO NOT CALL LIST" . I'm sick when i heard about the ringing of the telephone. I ask FCC and the Verizon telephone company to blocking and tell this telephone 888-445-8787 to sto harassment and bother me any more!!!.

- mjf6175| 2 repliesMany who post here should read the rior posts first. The following info should help those coming here:
1) DNC lists do NOT apply to charities, they still get to call.
2) Verizon (and other phone compnaies) will NOT block an 800 or 888 number (or other toll free numbers) since these lines are paid for and make money for the phone company
3) But MORE than likely these phone calls are beng generated by a private company that does fund raising for any charity that agrees to some sort of "split". Once the charity does agree the company then calls using the charities identity. It is not the charity organization itself calling you
3) These companies usually use internet/cable systems (and phone systems like "MagicJack"). Extremely difficult to trace and virtually no cost for the phone call.
4) TThere are computer programs that allow the caller to have ANY telephone number show up in your caller ID. In other words the number you see is NOT the number calling you
5) for all of the above reasons these slim balls keep calling since there is no downside for them- Caller: na
- Resident47 replies to mjf6175Your #3 bullet is the most critical. The dirty secret is that many charity calls are placed by a commercial fundraiser, such as Associated Community Services, Dial America, Donor Services Group, Harris, InfoCision, MDS, and TeleFund. These non-sales calls are exempt from federal DNC, even though such call centers are very much for-profit and pocket most of what their periodic campaigns collect. At times the ''charity'' client is itself a closet profit enterprise, compounding the deception.
However, as commercial entities, these hired call centers are expected to honor an internal no-call list and add any number upon request. Break that order, the FTC declares, and ''the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000.'' They are also covered to a point by other regulations for telepests, so you can kvetch about abandoned calls, bot calls to mobile phones, and so on. - 155kly replies to Its never lupus| 1 replyOh, brother. You won't donate, because they do the job they were supposed to, then leave behind on sheet of paper? Grow up. There are more annoying "unavailable" calls, than that. That is not a problem.
- DanTeIf you have call forwarding features (like on Verizon Digital Voice), than forward this jerk to 717-338-2533. That's the FCC Director's office phone. Maybe the FCC will finally do their job when they start getting the annoying calls.
- firemame| 1 replyGot a call from 888-445-8787. Comes up "Unavailable". Calls 3 -4 times a day. I don't answer anything that says Unavailable. They never leave a message but call all hours of the day and wake up my son.
- Caller: "Unavailable"
- Cathleen MillerThis number calls several times a day, never anyone there if we pick up.
- Samantha replies to mjf6175All these reasons add up to one thing: NEVER give ANY money or anything else to ANY "charity" that cold calls you. Tell everyone you know to do the same. This is the only way to hit the slimeballs where it hurts.
If you're feeling charitable, research a charity on your own and give to them directly. NEVER to a phone solicitor--that's just paying crooks. - Tony TI just crank up the music from my pc when I get these kind of calls and place the receiver by the speaker.
