- sdubReceived a text from 9177784279, "BANK-OF-AMERICA QFXB alert 848996. Please call 8885143547". I received this text on my work cell, which isn't tied to any of my personal accounts, and nor do I have a Bank of America account. This is obviously a scam.
- Kim DReceived the same message on 3/23 and 3/24.
Got an "unverified sender" text telling me "Bank of America STAW alert ... please call 314-433-3822
I do not have a Bank of America account. I blocked the call back number through my cell phone carrier today. I cannot block "unverified sender". SCAM... do not fall for this.- Caller: unverified sender
- Rog replies to ChrisI got the B of A one. One yesterday and one today with different call back numbers. The Phisher is hoping
I'm with B of A. The call back number is 888-514-3547 yesterday and 855-633-7761 today. Both are invalid numbers. The numbers at the top in parenthesis (different each day but both 917 area code) both trace to New York City. They obviously use a major bank name in the hopes one might think it's their institution trying to alert them like Visa or Master Card alerting to some unauthorized use on your card. I think if they get a response, they'll tie your phone number to that financial institution and now have at least two pieces of the puzzle. A lot of people are pretty lame when it comes to protecting info and ID thieves put info together to - Rog replies to ChrisI got the B of A one.
