text says: WellFargoBank AUJG alert 751535. Please call (888)-5143547"   text is from #917-424-1568

Text message from "Unverified Sender (917-172-9693) Wells Fargo Bank UBMB alert 275426" asking me to "call (888) -514-3547." I did not call.

text message from "unverified Sender (9178717533)  asking the same but with slightly different numbers in message...but asking me to call 888-514-3547.  I did not call either.

I got an unverified sender, wellsfargobank CEJE alert. 888 514 3547. it seems like a microsoft sam recording, very poorly set up

I received a text message with the following message, verbatim:

WellsFargoBank BKWF alert 672461. Please call 8885143547

Caller ID said the text was from 971-595-9127. The text message came in March 24, 2012 10:33 AM CT. I don’t have a Wells Fargo account so I suspected foul play. I called the number out of curiosity and was presented with a suspicious-sounding computer-generated voice saying something like, “We’re sorry, your account has been locked. Press 1 to unlock, press 2 to leave.” I pressed 2 and was disconnected.

Likely part of the same fraud campaign targeting customers of numerous financial institutions which has been using the numbers below.

Note the pattern of shill postings all claiming the number is real - an obvious giveaway.  The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real come from shills for the fraud spamming the site to try and deceive readers.  There is a similar pattern to fake calls claiming to be from Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc. all with the same shill postings:

Got an "unverified sender" text from 917-849-9338, telling me "Bank of America STAW alert ... please call 888-514-3547."

I don't have a BOA account. Not calling. Scam.

I received on Saturday 24 March at 12:23 pm a call from the number 917 232-1515 with a message from "Bank of America AXPA Alert 611742" to call 888-514-3547. I contacted the bank and I confirmed this was a scam

I got a call from 888-514-3547 telling me to call Bank of America about my account. I checked it out here and did not call. It is obviously a scam, but scary that someone is able to find out which bank I use.
