- SLI received the same call from a 888-584-1374 the person identified themselves as a Austin Cooper. This is definitely a scam. He claims he will serve legal papers if he's not contacted in a week and you will need a witness and your id in order to be served legal papers? First of all legal papers are supposed to be sent to you by certified mail and your signature is required. Second of all the are getting your name from online and calling the list of people under your name if it shows their phone numbers. As well as looking up old bills you have already paid off. And if it's a payday loan the majority of them online are illegal, but I'm sure they didn't bother to look up that information. I find if you don't call them back (which the number is usually disconnected of connected to a number in Sri Lanka which this number is masked under they tend to go away. And he didn't even leave the name of a company, weird. That's how you can tell they are scam artist.

- LisaA person by the name of Kevin called my job on 2-18-2015 saying it was a legal matter and they were going to serve me papers on 2-19-2015. I do not have any legal matters except for someone stealing my identity.
Thank you - ANNOYED| 1 replyMy husband has been harassed by this "company" for over 2 weeks now. They claim to be M.S. & Associates, LLC. I have done everything I can to find out if this is a legit company and I can find nothing on them over the web at all. No company listing for this company name. The Address they give is 7491 N. Federal Hwy. Boca Raton, Fl. 33487 I have searched that address and it is just a shopping mall. The closet to the address i could get was a ups store. When we asked them to MAIL us a letter stating what he owed and what the dept was for they couldn't do that. They could email us a letter. I'm not sure that is legal I'm mean if it was a real company wouldn't they mail us a real copy of the letter?? I know we owe people, and if I'm going to pay a dept I want to make sure the right people actually get the money and I'm not just throwing money out the window. As for now I'm going to file this in the scam folder. If anyone knows how to find out if this company is real, or how to make them stop harassing my husband at work please let me know. We have blocked them from calling from the 888-584-1374 number but they are now calling from a blocked number and i have no clue how to block that.

- JACKIEThese folks have been threatening & harassing me for almost a year now. Called me on the day my mom was having surgery & pressured me to pay up or they would arrest me at the hospital. I was very emotional that day,as you can imagine, so I started crying then I was told I could settle this whole issue by paying them on the phone from my "line of credit". They are unbelievable in every way, so don't stress over their calls. I have contacted an attorney & am keeping records of each call they make to me, my attorney says we have a case if we can locate them.

- TeenaSame as everyone else. Man said his name was Derek Upshaw from MS & Associates. I did not find any legit info on this company so looked up the phone number 1-888-584-1374 and found others who received the same call as I did threatening to serve me papers by the end of the week. First off from what I know, they do not notify you when they are going to serve you any type of papers. Secondly when I had spoke to these people previously they were rude & very threatening which having worked in collections before myself I know is COMPLETELY illegal!!!

- torrieI received a call from this guy named Derek Upshaw number 8885841374 ext 108 today. After ignoring first unknown caller, they immediatly called back so I answered. The guy said is this the last four of your social...then said please hold while I get my manager. In which I hung up. I get called from derek guy. Stating he has my social and name for a legal matter and that I need to call him back in the next 48 hours or he will serve me at.my place of employment next week between 12-4. Ummm I have no place of employment. I looked on Oklahomas court dockets case and the docket number he gave me on my voicemail was not even a real docket number. As the last four of the docket is my social. These people finally left my mother alone only to start calling me.

- MaryThey called me about an payday loan saying I was going to be served papers next week and gave a doc # saying I wrote a hot check to a payday loan company and they were taking me to court. I told them to call my attorney and he hung up on me. His name was jerrod upshaw. from M.S. & Associates. They actually need to get a life. I would like to know how they can try and scam. This is coming from the same location that the IRS scam is coming from dumb people.

- Marisa| 1 replyGot a call from them today. They wouldn't give me any information about who they were or why they needed to talk to me. The lady verified my name (they had my maiden name) and then she asked if xxxx was the last 4 numbers of my ssn. For the record, they were the wrong digits and I told her so (I didn't give her my ssn, btw, and I wouldn't have if she asked). I asked again what this was about, and she said, "Well, if that's not your ssn I can't tell you about this. We must have the wrong person. We'll take you out of the system."
I'm confused. I'm as afraid of debt collectors as the next person, but many of the comments say that it's people looking to collect on a payday loan--I've never had a payday loan in my life. It was very very sketchy. Don't give these people any of your information if they call! - Slim replies to MarisaIf you KNOW you owe no money, or believe the call was from a fake debt collector, please take the time to read this:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - ms. baldyI have received these type of calls for four years now. every time I ignore them, a "new" company calls. JCPH Group, which has a completely fake bogus website and now MS & Associates. I spoke with "Thomas White". He told me he had a certified letter for my husband that requires his signature but before he sent it out, he was hoping he would settle this payday loan gone bad. HA!!! NOPE! I told him I have spoken with my attorney general and was advised to always request a validation of debt letter, to be sent certified mail to my address, and that it has been four years and I am still waiting on this letter. He said my husband had a payday loan in 2012 that was cashed on behalf of his JP Morgan Chase Bank account. I told him that was odd because my husband doesn't have a chase bank account. He insisted that maybe my husband knows more about this matter than I do. I told him to send the certified letter. He said "okay, have a great day!" Just keep dodging their calls....It is 100% a scam. If you are unsure, call your attorney general....

- cherish cornettRecieve calls from this number and from other numbers, also numbers listed as private that request for me to call back at the 888-584-1374 number. They always say it's a legal matter, that they're calling my HR director, coming to my job, coming to my house unless I pay them for a debt that I do not owe. They never show up to either place, of course. They call every single day. I can't block all of the numbers they call from but it is the same scamming company.

- Sandra| 3 repliesJust got a call from Justin Stevens saying he was a carrier and had some papers that needed to be signed by me.Also said will serve them between 12 and 5 and since I would be at work would bring them to my job.wanted me to have a HR personal or my manager there as a witness to sign that papers were given to me.he also wanted two forms of ID. Then said if he needs to come to my house to have all animals that are of danger locked up. Never said what company he was serving papers for. Just to call the 888 to stop from having papers served.Good luck going to my job since I have been out on medical leave since October. They try to scare people. If you are going to bring legal papers to someone you are going to give them a heads up? DO NOT THINK SO

- keisha| 1 replyThis is a scam!! 1-888-584-1374 I got a new debit card so they would be unable to take out the money. They of course called me at 10:30 that morning asking why the payment did not go through...I asked them for a license number for my attorney and they said they need a formal statement. Then I said I need it and they transferred me to this man who tried to go off yelling at me and forgot to hang up the phone properly. So I listened to all of them discuss how they needed to find and makeup a license number. Then Mike Brown started talking about how he needed to go fishing and needed a blunt and Heinekin, opened a trunk and put some stuff in it (he was talking to a friend)! He was very upset about the license number still. Then the female who called me came into the room saying they needed to go right away! I stayed on the phone for 10 minutes and so thankful that I was not scammed by these dirt bags!! They say they will take you to court and show up at your job or home. Welcome them because they will never show. They have no paperwork nor can send anything in the mail or email. They suck!! I hope this helps someone. And of course before I hung up I heard another person calling to try to scam someone else!!!

- J replies to keishaThanks for posting this info! It's often we get to hear what we already suspect of these low life's....I got a call from that same guy just 30 minutes ago saying to have my id ready Monday and to inform HR that they would need to be present? I have my own business so I guess I could witness myself? LOL! I have had these calls for about 3 years now.. ever since my drug addict sister stole my identity to try to feed her habit and the only advise I have gotten was to report them of course, and then ignore them.....sadly this is all too common anymore. I hope everyone on here knows they won't show up, there is no debt looming most likely, and to stay on top of your credit and identity.
- pepperLady called me stating if I didn't call her ,she would come to my work that she had a sealed document and that I needed two pieces of id and that my supervisor would have to sign also ! What ? NEVER SHOWED !

- JT replies to Sandra| 1 replyWow had the same exact person leave a message for me. Decided to see what it was about and the guy was named "Jack Staton" and said I had taken a payday loan out in February 2011 and used my bank account to secure it. He said my bank was TCF but that account was closed in 2010 with no outstanding balances. Then proceeded to say they were going to serve me at work. So I said well I'm going to have to talk to my lawyer and he goes well "we can bypass all of this if you pay out $795" now prior to that the amount was $350 then went up to $595 then to $795 but when I asked the amount he couldn't remember what he had told me and just said well we will deliver papers to your job. So still waiting for these papers!
