Your Highness replies to Debt Collector 101
You are the bigger idiots. This is America and it is illegal to contact  consumers at their place of employment, their family members, friends or neighbor about a debt. I received several messages at my place of employment from a Mr. Garcia, which I have ignored. So he started calling my daughter (several times a day), she threatened to call the police, and the calls stopped. Then he called my home and told my spouse everything, that's illegal. I finally contacted Mr. Garcia and asked for an address to send what I owe, and throughout the entire conversation he never gave me an address, he just kept arguing. I finally hung up.

This number was on my caller ID ... trouble is, I've never taken out a payday loan, ever, anywhere, so why would they be calling if it weren't a scam?

I received a call on my cell phone...how did they get my number...telling me I owed over $700 on a payday loan I took out in 2006 for $300, paid off, and learned my lesson to never do again. I told the lady that I paid off that loan years ago and I was told I most definately could not prove it unless I received a letter stating that it was paid off. Without that letter they were going to keep calling me. Now why would I have to have a letter when I paid it off and why would I still have anything from 2006? And why would anyone now contact me after all these years? She said they emailed me at the email address I had, which I still have, and I told her I received nothing via mail or email from them. I asked for their address and was told she could not give it to me. what?  I asked her to look at the payments I paid and she could see I paid it off and she would or could not give me the info. I asked for her phone number, even though I saw on my cell phone that she called from my area code, (unpubished of course) and she gave me the number of 888-622-0222. I had to ask her twice for a reference number.I told her I would hopefully find the proof I needed to prove I paid this loan off and she said "good luck". Well of course there would be no letter. But maybe I can get my old bank to send me bank records from that far back to prove that I paid . If that will stop them. How do I prove I paid off a debt from 2006 and provide a letter that is never sent. I see a nightmare coming that will never end. I would not have known the name of the company if I had not found this site. You keep records only 3 years for the IRS. Evidently I have to keep everything the rest of my life.

I received this call on my voicemail at work with this number to call back regarding a serious matter. The lady said her name was Diana, but she didn't say what she wanted or the name of her company. I have no idea how she got my phone number. After reading everyone's comments I know now to call back because it's only a scam. I hope that is the last time I get a call from her, because i'm at work and I don't have time to deal with a bunch of BS.

I was young and stupid when I got into debt about 4-5 years ago (can't wait for the magic 7). Anyways, I've paid back and settled and many of my debts. NRC was actually very helpful. I'm not sure who this number is for they sure aren't the NRC. I will not be calling them because I've delt with a collector a few years ago who threatened me and I eneded up in the ER from work because of an anxiety attack. If you send me a letter, I will call you and work out arrangements. If you threaten me...goodbye. I just wanted to share this with the posts because it sounds like maybe a difference branch of the NRC or something.

    Everyone is wrong
Lots of the posting here defendig this scam are part of it. The only company that can call you is the company that you made business with. If it was sent to a collection agency the first thing the collection agency is send a official letter to your address, never a phone call. This is a scam going on. Some loan applications were sold to different companies and people got your information that way. Dont get scared because they have your info just ignore the calls or youcould answer and tell them you know its a scam. They will get upset but they will stop calling you for awhile until they sell your info to another company that tries to do the same thing. It might take months even years for them to call you again but most likely they will.

People on here want to talk about harrassing people.......and this would be considered what? This woman called from her place of employment as part of her job, you tracked down her location with the malicious intent of trying to scare this woman! Grow up. I have had debt that has gone to collections and had to deal with payment plans. Yes, I got several calls before I set up payment, yes it was embarrassing. But once I took care of my debts (without acting like a stalker and tracking down my collectors!!!) I had one less thing to worry about. Instead of spending all of your time trying to figure out how to avoid collectors, try getting a job and paying off your debt....or paying your bills on time and not have accounts in collections! Crazy concept!!!

I see a long list of F**Ks and B***Hes coming from these overly irate, immoral and greedy scam-artists that are shunning those making attempts to get them to do that which they agreed to do(pay the loan back) and calling them greedy scam-artists. It is one thing if you don't have the money, but are willing to make some sort of arrangments to pay what you owe. Its just downright immoral  to refuse to pay back a loan simply because there are loopholes in the law working to your benefit so that you may con or "scam" your way out of the debt. I'm only on here because i got a call from that number regarding a $300 loan that was supposed to automatically come out of my account 6 months ago. I don't really use the account, so I didn't know that there wasn't enough money in there and therefore they never got paid. I didn't have enough money on me, so I pawned some stuff and put the money in the account and called them again and let them know. I don't care about my credit,or even personally about the snippy a**hole-ish debt collectors. I'm a single dad struggling to make it with custody of my 2 kids, but if everything else goes wrong,I will at least be assured that I pass good morals down to my kids. Thank you HELPER and HONESTABE.

Apparently you don't know the definition of "debt collection?"(the primary function of most "collection agencies") Collection agencies being that which houses the infamous "debt collectors."  Would you walk into a Mc Donalds, order a Big Mac, then tell the cook "F*@K YOU!!! How dare you flip that patty B*#^H!!" What nerve. I am simply appalled that there are people out there doing their jobs and feeding their kids. I pay my debts. Whether late or on time. Even to [***]-ish debt collectors. Suck it up, quit being babies and own up to the responsibilities that you bestowed upon yourselves.
