This guy Chad Mason keeps calling me saying that I have a law suit against me out of orange county for a bank.. And he wanted me to go buy a visa card at Walmart to pay him $250.. He also called my husband and brother in law saying that there would be a warrant out out for me if I didn't pay the money...  He called me today from a 714 number... Has anyone else dealt with him..

Yes I too have received messages on my cell phone that is listed under my husband's name. They keep leaving messages now about a complaint, then it was I'm go I ng too be sued. Whatever. I do not answer the phone to unavailable. I do now I'm writing down the information to give to the federal trade commission for my own legal harassment complaint.  I've gotten these calls on my landline and cell. Total scammed I will not answer the phone.

Wait a sec. The man just said it was his account and he owed the debt.  So where is the scam?  The only thing i see is that these people are using unethical and false threats to get u to pay the bill u owed. But at the end of the day. U owed the money right?

Nope, not always. There have been articles in the news about folks info being sold off and they have paid it and that information not being sent. You can buy something, pay if off in full and still have some nitwit down the road claim you didn't pay for it and now owe on it.  Also Extortion Scammers will use, abuse and make up lies to scare people into paying money they do not owe! They get partial information though hacks and security breach's along with hacking online forms.

Paying a legit bill is one thing, but no one should ever pay a professional deadbeat extortion scammer one penny! They should be in a 6 x 6 prison cell!

"The man just said it was his account and he owed the debt."  I replied to a "marcia" which is a woman's/girl's name.  At no point did 'marcia" state that she owe any money to anyone.  What she said was that he scared here into paying.

"people are using unethical and false threats to get u to pay the bill u owed."  Which is a violation of the law.  A law that was enacted for the exact reason.

"U owed the money right?"  Just because you owe someone money doesn't mean that the person calling you has the legal right to collect it.  This has to be proven.  Once proven in accordance with the law then it should be paid. On the other hand, most of these people who use unethical and false threats do not have the legal right to collect doggy doo doo let alone alleged debts.

I didn't see you asking a valid question.  what you made was more of a "pay ur bills" shill statement.  No one said anything about not paying valid debt.  But no one said that you should have to put up with being treated like scum either.  Not only is that illegal, but usually it is perpetrated by criminals pretending to be debt collectors.  Just because they have your name and phone number that they purchased off a piece of paper doesn't mean they have the legal and valid right to collect the debt.  But you think what you want to think because I certainly am not going to waste my time arguing with you.  Further, many of us here worked all our lives and are now retired.  I for one put in 45 years.  So don't tell me that I am not "the working type"  Further, i still go out and work from time to time, like the last 2 days.  You seem to be the type that can't find a job, will max out unemployment and then look for more government handouts (i.e. welfare, food stamps, etc.)
