Received 3 calls on my cell phone from this collection agency looking for someone else. # times I've asked them to stop calling. How many time do I have to tell them to get me out of there system? How do I make them stop?

File a police report, depending on what state you live in, more than 3 unwanted phone calls = harassment.

They keep calling and leaving messages on my VM at work. One VM ended up on a co-workers VM and that co-worker forwarded it to me. I can't find anything on the internet where it states who these people are or what they might be calling. They keep threatening me with legal troubles. They said this time they are returning the collection to the original owner, I don't owe any one anything other than credit cards and my car loan and I pay those. They call anonymous but leave the 888-662-0487 number to call back.

To a ''not me'' case I always recommend putting the collection agency on notice, just as you would if you were the target and the debt claim was invalid. Send a cease-comm notice via USPS Certified with return card. The FTC and many consumer watchdogs explain how to draft one. This will set a legal landmine, as such a notice is ignored at their peril.

Assuming this is a domestic debt collector, you can take real action in court, as opposed to the fake "case" implying you're in trouble. You've been called repeatedly three hours too soon, which would not be hard to paint as harassment, giving you two kinds of federal violation right away. This is even before the call content is examined for deceptive statements and illegal threats.
