    Received calls today from the following people and phone#s: Lauren @ 708-730-2752, Mia Moore @ 888-679-4309 x3027. Also came across 888-704-3493. All of these appear to be linked to RG Financial. It was in regards to a "supposed" Payday Loan from 2008. They had prior/current address, bank info, SSN which were accurate. However, the email and phone# were those of other family members. Stating this was pre-trial for a $460 debt. Its crazy the lengths that people will go through to obtain funds. All of those phone #$ have scams listed under them as does the company name. I will be filing a claim under the BBB as well. This needs to stop because it is very frustrating. Im afraid others will fall for it out of fear rather than checking into the validity of things!

    These scumbags are nothing but a shady 3rd party collection agency.  They buy payday loans for pennies on the dollar and use scare tactics to try and collect.  First of all, the only LEGAL payday loans are the companies licensed to do business in your state and 9 times out of 10, they are not the internet ones.  Most internet payday loan companies are based off shore and are not licensed to do business in most states so they have no jurisdiction to collect from you.  Debt matters are civil matters, not criminal so they can say they are sending the sheriff all they want..it's really quite amusing.  And most of all, in most states, they MUST provide you, IN WRITING within 5 days of them receiving the "debt" and provide details of the creditor, amount owed, etc.  You then by law have 30 days to dispute the claim, etc.  These jokers cannot and will not provide any of those because they are not following the collection laws of the US.

    I just received a voice mail from this company, stating they need a call back within 24 hours to avoid "further action."  I can guarantee this is a scam since I've never had a payday loan and the only debt I have are student loans, which are paid via auto pay every month.  I regularly check my credit report at all three reporting agencies and I have no negative items, only positive.  If the creditor is to the point of taking "further action" I'm pretty sure the debt would have been reported to at least one credit agency.

    To reiterate what others have said, THEY CAN'T HAVE YOU ARRESTED OR FILE CRIMINAL CHARGES. They CAN file in civil court which could result in a wage garnishment, but something tells me this company does't want to involve the courts.  They can't send anyone to your house to harass you.  I'm not sure of the legality of contacting family/friends/employers but I think they are only allowed to ask for basic info, and they are not allowed to say why they're calling or discuss the debt.  The IRS isn't going to provide them with any information.  In Ohio there is a statute of limitations for debt; 7 years.  If, after 7 years, the creditor hasn't taken any action in regard to the debt they legally can't do anything to the debtor (file a civil case, wage garnishment, etc.)  An important thing to remember is if you make any arrangements with the creditor the 7 year limit starts over (again this is in Ohio, other states may be different.)  I believe even your asking for proof of the debt will restart the 7 year limit.  The best thing to do is hang up on them as soon as they call, or don't answer the phone to begin with.  File a complaint and keep copies of everything.

    A couple family members and friends have had credit problems, so I know a little about the rules and regs of what can/cannot be done.  Also, if anyone has filed bankruptcy against the alleged debt they can't continue harassing you once you've provided your attorney's contact info and your bankruptcy case number.  A creditor kept calling my sister after she filed for bankruptcy.  She sued and won!!

    If people could be arrested for unpaid debt half of the US would be in jail!

    Good luck, and don't lose sleep because of these [***].

    Received a call from this number 520-363-3582-Robo call from RG Financial Services. Caller threatened to send a Sheriff to my home if I did not provide my credit card or debit card info. She also wanted my full ss#. I NEVER give this information to anyone- claims this is for a payday loan- which are illegal in the state of AZ, cannot be sued for, and cannot be litigated ESPECIALLY if the source of the funding company is outside of the US- many MANY online payday loans are. I have never had a payday loan and want to know how they got my info. I have also placed a fraud alwert on my credit bureau and I have called back 5 times, people are all obnoxious, no one wants to give a location, a name or a physical address for this company. Their mistake this time is that clearly they do not know what I do for a living. I will find them- and I will take them to the AG and shut them down.

    This number was given as an alternate for contact on a voice mail I received from RG Financial, regarding a client who was not identified.  I was told this is in reference to a "civil complaint" their client has against me, and that this client would like to settle out of court if I was agreeable to it.  The number I was called from is (312) 465-1374, and the representative gave the 888 number.

    They are not registered under either name in Georgia as would be required by law.
    Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
    Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
    Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

    I got a call from the same lady, Kathy McDublin, she couldn't tell me where the loan was taken out and wouldn't tell me her address, tax id # or anything.  I can tell you that I didn't take out any pay day loan in 2009 when she said I did because I was on complete bed rest during that time before I had my babies.  That told me right away this was a scam!!!

    I have received calls from RG financial by an Angela and Brandon......P.O Box 259 Norcross, GA 30091
    They are harassing me at work and very rude to my employer.
    Please respond if anyone is getting these same calls from these two people.
    Told them I would not pay unless I got something in writing.  Sent me a generic letter stating that I owe.

    People that are in business do NOT speak to another person in this rude sick manner.

    Informational post:

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors

    Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    Received a call about a payday loan that I took out in 2011, and only made 2 payments on and didn't pay the rest and if I didn't pay it I was being taken to court. I told the arregant woman she could talk to my attorney about this and hung up. It's all a scam to get people to loose their hard earned money.

    You are an odd one. This is the first post I have seen where someone infers he intends to never finish paying back a payday loan. Yet you can afford a lawyer. Did you file for bankruptcy? Inquiring minds are eager to know.
