- yef replies to don juanShill alert! Another shill with reading comprehension (not to mention spelling) problems. Most of the posters are saying they are not the person this scam company is trying to reach and also describe FDCPA violations galore.

- ArchThese people really need to be caught. I have been harrassed just like most of you; almost word for word. The threats, the intimidating tactics no shame, no guilt, no soul, just greed. To scam or try to scam anyone out of their money is a down right disgrace. God sees and He will repay!

- Lexi D.I have been getting calls from the same people but the number is different it is:1-855-822-0146. When I would answer the phone call no one would talk then they would hang up after thirteen seconds every time now they call me twice a day with the same silence. When I call them back I would get a recording saying that I reached the URG Law Firm and that I had received court summons because of my outstanding debt. I don't even have a loan or credit card! This is soo a total scam!

- Alfalfa replies to julieThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

- MomThis co. Has harassed & threatened to put my daughter in jail, and used my bipolar & depression to their advantage to get me to accept her debt. Within an hour of talking to them, I talked to my daughter who told me she had already made arrangements with them. I called them back & asked several times for them to record our conversation, but they declined. I officially verbally rescinded my promise to pay because they had made contact with my daughter. They called today & my daughter talked to them & informed them it was her debt, not mine. They hung up. Now they say they will be filling suit on both of us? .

- ah replies to SHannonI have been trying call them back they will not awnser nor will they awner when they call me it is for the previous owner of the phone how do I get them to quit?
- MontanaJust wanted to say I also have received a call from these people. They left a lengthy voicemail message that was rude, could hardly understand what they were saying, said they WOULD find me either at work, through family, freeze my bank accounts and garnish my wages and would contact the proper authorities within the next 35 minutes. The phone # they left me was 1-855-819-6105. If this is a legitimate law office, wouldn't they have a toll free #? Also, when she stated she was with URG Offices....not Law Firm. When I search this # online....nothing shows up. A legitimate law firm would have a phone # online.
Also, when I did call this # back after hours...it went to a switchboard where it then sent me to some Brian guys voicemail. I left a message to call me in regards to my case # and to please let me know what this is concerning as I did not receive any papers in the mail. We shall see if they contact me back. If so, I have a few choice words to say to them....especially my legal rights and to send me contact information from them. Phone #, fax line, address, and that I need written notification for this matter.
Such a hoax....horrible for the elderly.- Caller: URG

- KayJayI'm so grateful for this site and for posts like Alfalfa's with information that can help us all recognize these predatory tactics! I just got a call from "Unknown" (which I never answer) and the caller left a voice mail. Then, moments later, a different "Unknown" caller left a message on my grandmother's phone with a similar rant. Mind you, I haven't lived with my grandma in 30 years, and we live 300 miles apart. She freaked out and called me, worried that I would lose my job because the caller said I was being served a work for a court appearance for some "breach of contract" charges filed against me.
I listened to my voice mail message and it went something like "this is Tiffany and I'm with the URG Legal Department. I am prepared to come out and serve notice to you at your place of employment today for case #1251444. This case will be closed in 24-48 hours of notification. Please call 855-825-6748, extension 284 to dispute the charges filed against you." I knew this didn't pass the smell test, so imagine my relief when I found this site and read how so many posters have endured similar harrassment and threats.
Personally, I don't plan on calling these morons back. And I've advised my grandmother to ignore their calls, or if she does bother to answer, to urge them to deal with me directly and stop calling her. This is clearly a scam, and they take advantage of databases where they have your personal info (SSN, employer, etc.) and do a skip trace to find your previous phone numbers. I just bought a townhouse a few months ago, and I'm sure any debts I had prior to getting my mortgage were either paid off or being paid on. Thank goodness for caller ID and a better understanding of how this game is played. My theory is, if you can find me, serve notice to me in writing--because I damn sure wouldn't make any sort of agreement or payment arrangement with any menacing debt collector by phone!- Caller: URG Legal Department
