This is one of those debt collecting places that is looking for old debt to collect.  They are on a fishing trip and if your name, or something that sounds like it, is close to who they are looking for, they will call you looking for the original debtor.  Don't play into their hands.  These [***] call and act as if they have the upper hand in things.  They don't.  When you become belligerent with them (and you should) because they are trying to fish personal information from you without telling you what they want, you should remember that they called you demanding you interrupt your life to assist them with their fishing trip!  My favorite is how they act that when you are upset that they are wasting your time.  Let them act upset, Who Cares what they think?  They called you and are wasting your time.  Demand that they remove you from their call list!  This type of debt collector should be ignored.  You know if you have the debt or not.  If you don't, and I bet most of you fall into this category, demand they leave you alone!

First off, by law we have to verify that we are talking to the correct person before we disclose any personnel info.  When people act like we're a scam, yes it gets frustrating. People can act like they are above reproach all they want but in the end it's their credit being damaged.  Of course from time to time we have the wrong number. Easy fix, tell us we do. Most of these statements are from people that are just trying to make themselves feel better about not paying their bills. Most of the people we call have a sense of entiltment and no sense of responsibility or accountability. So go ahead and ignore the calls if you want to, they are not going to stop unless you step up and be accountable. And if/when GRC does show up on your credit, you have no one to blame but yourself. You have been notified.

Really..Sounds like you do this for a living..Which is fine..But No company has the right to call my cell at 1 AM...So am I to think this company is legit when it uses practices like  calling at 1 AM in the morning??? You think that is how a company should be run and act?? GRC (888) 710-6818 which is in the same time zone as I am..Which means there was no reason for them to call after 1 AM in the Morning...

There is no one at the company to call you at 1am.  The office is closed.  The only possible way that someone could get a call after 9pm is if their cell phone had an area code that came from a different area code/time zone. Example, if someone lived in PA and had a number that has an area code from CA, it is possible they will get called late at night.  That is the only way. The computer system doesn"t allow calls to be made after 9pm for the time zone.

How are we suppose top pay you back when we can't find work?  I know of people  including myslef who have college degree's and can't find work.  What do you want us to do?  I know.  Let's see, I can, at 41 years old and fat, become a stripper at the local truck stop.  No wait, that's illegal.  Ok, well, I could rob a bank... no that's illegal too.  GFast food restaurants are hiring, but I am over-qualified.  I live in between 2 large cities and the job market is bad in all of them.  With unemloyment hovering at 10%, any suggestions?

I recieved a call from the 888 number and was asked for personal information on a person that does not live at my address. I told them I will not give out personal information unless I know whom I am speaking with. They informed me that if I did not give them the information they requested concerning the person they were looking for they would keep calling. I informed them not to call this number again so we will see what happens. If they are looking for a certain individual and that person is not at the number they called, then they should make a note of it and not call again......

It's a collection agency, as it's been stated.  They switch to this number when you don't answer the main line they call from.  I'm not ignoring them, I can't talk cuz I'm at work and will call later.  They're trying to collect on my student loans.

    I absolutely *hate* the excuse "I'm over-qualified."

Bullshiz.  You need work?  You freaking work.  I felt like an idiot having to work at Dairy Queen for a year with a bachelor's degree in information systems security, but you know what?  $300 a week is way better than none.  Unemployment only lasts for so long, get your 41-year-old, fat backside up and work.

This is a valid collection agency.  Usually they collect for university accounts.  The account that they have for me is completely legit....and I must say...the $1000 I owe to the university is my own fault...ignoring it will only result in a judgement against you and your check being garnished.  It is wise to just work out some sort of payment plan with them so it doesn't go to court.  It would spare much embarrassment from having your payroll manager or HR manager tell you they received a notice of judgement that is to be taken out of your checks.

It's a debt collection agency. I am getting calls meant for the former tenant of my home - they must have gotten the new phone number somehow, based on our address.  A nuisance; they've called 3 times in 3 days. They never catch me home, or I'd tell them we're not the person they're looking for!  Again, like all the others here, the message they leave says not to listen if you aren't the person for whom they are calling.

This is GRC (General Revenue Corporation) and they are calling to collect a debt. They specialize in student loan debts (money you owe for college). If you don't answer them then they can get a court order to garnish your wages. Student loans are protected by law and you have to repay them.

They called me and told me a owe a couple grand for a college loan and now I'm on a payment plan to repay it.

If you are geting calls from this debt collector and owe no debt report them to the federal trade commision and go to their web site and know your rights and always ask the debt collector for a verification of the debt sent to you by mail and it must include the orginal contract signed by you, that is because one the origninal debtor ( the person you sign the contract with) sells the debt to anyone else more likely to a debt collector under federal law it becomes fraud.. always try to get the debt collector address and send them a letter advising them to stop all forms of communication with you as required under federal law.

I had a voice-mail on my home phone from this compay - General Revenue Corp.  They asked for my minor son (15 years old).  I called them and asked what they wanted with my minor son, and I asked who they were, who they represented and what kind of business they were in.  The lady who answered told me to refer to their website and wanted my son's SS#.  When I told them I would not release information they became combative.  I spoke to a "manager" who told me they needed to talk to my son to verify they had the wrong person and I informed her I would not let them as it violated FTC and Fair Debt Collection Practices Laws.  She informed my they would not remove my phone from their call list and would call me tomorrow and the next day and the next until I "felt better".  This so called manager's name is Meitra.  I will go the whatever extent I need to stop such harrassment.  I will start with our Attorney General and go on down the line.  Time to research the steps to stop this.
