Rude jerks trying to get me to believe I had an unpaid loan, when I never even took out a high interest desperation loan.  Ignored them.  Blocked the number.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.59 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

    Annoyed AF
I have been receiving calls from this number at all hours of the night all hours of the day making me believe that something urgent hasHappened they have never left a voicemail and the few times I did answer they said that they were a debt collection agency however I recently filed for a full credit report and have zero debt so there’s no way that this suddenly came out of the blue this number has been calling me all day when I’m at work all night when I’m at home it doesn’t matter the day or the time it’s always this number and if it was something important they would’ve left a voicemail I feel. They also wanted me to provide them with my Social Security number so they could pull up my information when I refused and hung up they called back when I answered they started the whole spiel over again

Not Asia Harris replies to Amused
I get these phone calls every day for an Asia Harris, however theres no Asia here. Ive been told multiple times ill be on the DNC list. Yet yall keep calling, and no theyre nothing more than a debt collecting agency, who uses a service called TLO, to get a bunch of names and numbers on an account that might be related to the person in debt. I told them i was sick of this and was gonna take them to court for legal action and the lady has the audacity to say "youre being extreme sir". Extreme? Extreme is repeatedly interrupting someones day, multiple times a day, when thyre expecting a phone call that is actually important. Not some dumb [***] on the phone trying to waste my time.

I was called today and the woman would not tell me what the call was about...she kept asking for my personal info and to verify my identity. I said no, u called me, you start explaining or I’m finished so she went on to tell me that I owed my old college $800 from 2003. I did not have a student loan of any sort. So I’m confused on why it’s been 16 years and suddenly I owe $800. Anyway I did not give them any new info and I ended up ending the call bc she kept getting rude with me. Isn’t there a statute of limitations for a non student loan debt?

Me too. They call me several times a day. I blocked it in February. They call sometimes up to 4x/day. It's crazy. I don't even know who they think I owe money to. I have a little debt, but no-one that I don't know about.
