- AJ in GAReceived a call from a local number, so I answered it. This call is intended for (gave my sisters name). We have a complaint that has been referred to our office in reference to her name and social security number. Would you get a message to her to call Angelia at 888-732-1025 x112. What is this in reference to, I asked? We represent a law firm and they have contacted us to get a statement from her in this legal matter. That is when I told her "you are a debt collector trying to collect a debt and you trying to blow that smoke up my A**". No, we are not a debt collector and if you can't deliver the message just forget about it. Told her it was already forgotten about. My sister has NEVER lived with me and I have no idea how they got my name and number.

- Direct BlowsJust dealt with them. They are a scam. Had some accurate info but couldn't back up any of their claims. They called my parents luckily and they set them straight. Don't pay them squat and ignore their threats and intimidation. Tell them to lawyer up and they will back down. Wish there could be a law suit against them so they can get what they deserve.

- Direct Blows replies to staceyDon't pay them, ignore the bullying, and stay strong. They can't bring a lawsuit against you. They are a scam and should be prosecuted
- BillIn certain states, payday loans are illegal and even IF they did loan money to anyone in those states, the contract that is supposed to bind you to repay that loan is invalid and therefore, they are owed nothing. Check your states laws. Now, there are NO payday loan companies that can do anything more than take you to small claims court for the amount that they say you owe. As such, small claims courts can do nothing more than to set the amount as a debt and (at max) recommend that you pay the amount back. They can't even due wage garnishments. When that happens, cite the law to the court and make them disappear for good. Don't get into a mouth-battle with these morons. It's not worth your time. After you look up the law in your state and can confirm that the company is not legally allowed to do business in your state, just tell these idiots to take you to small claims court (tell them you have the court's address and phone number, if they need that info.) Dare them to do something more than attempt to threaten you with an illegal, non-binding contract. They'll hang up and lose your number so fast that you're eardrums will pop from the pressure release. LOL

- monkerdoI received a call from this number asking for someone else. I called the number back. No answer.
- anthony replies to johnthey most likely dont have your SSN They will get it if you call them and thats how they work... Its a scam
- Concerned2015A relative got a call from this number with a "court case" number to give to me. Was not told what it was in regards to. Calls are going to a family member in a state in which I do not live threatening to deliver "court papers". I had a payday loan in college I was unable to pay back. If this is what it is about, seeing others had calls about payday loans, it's a scam. The last time this happened, I was threatened to be arrested. I called the loan company directly and they said the account gets sold off again and again to various collection agencies but that the comment about being taken to court or arrested is false and I should forward the callers info and harassing remarks to the government.
- GregoryThese people are in 4 different states there with the Gambino that's why its so hard to catch then there hiding under a real attorney I called new York state
- Beatrix KiddoI called the number back and said if they think they have a complaint about me now, wait until I keep calling them a thousand times a day and then they will REALLY have a complaint against me!
- StacyIdentity thieves, con men and bill collectors alike buy and sell your personal information. If they get nowhere with you, they will sell your information to some other thief. Don't ever give out or "confirm" ANY information over the telephone. When someone tells you that you must "confirm" your name, make them say it first. Don't let them tell you anything different. The same goes for your address. If they won't do this, they're thieves. Thieves often pretend to be a legitimate collection agency, business or organization.
Make them notify you through the mail. If they won't do this, they're thieves. How do I know all of this stuff? I worked for a legitimate collection agency one summer. Not some get-rich-quick con man. I fully expect others to post here to try to argue with me. Ignore them, they are the thieves I am warning you of. If something doesn't sound right, just hang up.
Legitimate bill collectors can be negotiated with. If you come to an agreement, demand that they first send it in writing to you through the mail, along with verification of a legitimate debt, as the law requires. Never send them anything in writing. They don't need to require this if they're legitimate. Never agree to anything which makes you pay money first. Never turn over control of your computer to anyone. Never push buttons or leave messages. Never believe anyone who threatens you with arrest. NEVER give out card numbers or check routing and account numbers. Always use money orders. Don't mail payments to PO boxes. Legitimate people aren't afraid to provide an office address.
Thieves and con men are aware of this website. They have been posting here (800notes) to create confusion. They usually tell stories about how hard it was to get rid of them, how they were threatened, or tell of different things that they say worked. Good businesses don't do this. Don't bother to threaten thieves, they think it's funny. And it certainly isn't the mafia. They have better things to do.
You can help your entire community by doing what I did. Contact your local TV station and tell them about this website, so that they can share it with their viewers and help stop thievery. - sarah replies to Scam StopperMy sister got a call from these people about a plain green loan that's been taken care of over 2 years ago I have the paperwork stating that and I actually looked their number up before calling them back that said they r a scam first of all they would need to serve u with paperwork for court and I've been told by a lawyer that told me u cannot go to jail over a payday loan. Actually had a Christopher black call me a few years back telling me I would go to jail and I told him meet me at the police dept I called police on them as well and they stopped. Because they had me so upset. So don't bother with them or call police or go to FBI website to turn them in as well.

- AnnI had a message to call this number about a complaint against my social security number. I figured it was a scam, but made the call out of curiosity. It turned out to be some kind of collection agency trying to collect against someone who had my phone number over ten years ago. We used to get lots of collection calls from agencies trying to get money from them, but it's been a few years since getting one. They said they would take our number off their call list. This is probably a last-ditch, bottom-feeding collection agency.

- BatmjMy husband received a call from this number at work. They told his manager that they have a legal matter to discuss with him. Gave his manager this number to call him back at. I called and finally got a live person and it was woman. She said she was calling from Direct Marketing in reference to a loan we took out in 2012. Said she had some legal info she needed to read to me. She gave me all his information, (on a loan that supposedly did NOT have my name on it), and said that he has to reply in 2 hours or a garnishment will be set against his pay. Said that since this was a payday type of loan, that we did not have to get a summons from court, the garnisent would automatically be granted. We have not been served with any papers. I kept directly asking her if we were being sued and she would not directly answer me. She just kept saying we would be in 2 hours because he signed a conract. My nerves all jacked up because he did take a loan out but not with this company and we did make payments on the loan he had! Some things she said were puzzling to me, though, and made me suspicious.
