- Tired of Scammers| 4 repliesMessage states they are calling from John ? Frank and Associates about a matter attached to my name and SS#. Ok fine, but you won't verify any information, you just want me to give you my info. Sorry, it doesn't work that way. You also can't provide me any information in writing or verbally about what this so called "debt" is for and after all of this you want me to give you a debit or credit card number?! Are you insane? I don't know you from Adam. IF and I say that loosely, I owe money for something, then contact me the way the Fair Credit Act says you are supposed to. Until that time no matter how many times you change your number or name of your ahem "law firm", you will get nothing from me.

- donot be bullied| 1 replyMy 80 yr. Old mother was called and told if she didn't pay with in 24hrs. They would sue her. They stated that they were from King Size which they said was a furniture store ( it's actually a clothing store, and she had bought a $70. Item, but paid with her visa). She asked for something in writing and was told they couldn't do that because the letter could go to the wrong address and a scammer might get it.
They then called her adult son and told him that his Mother was going to be sued. Finally she called me ( I'm her daughter, she was in tears and hadn't slept in days). She is terminally ill, but these Sob's didn't care. So tomorrow morning they're going to get a call from me. I wanted to look up here and see what else this person has done to others.- Caller: king size furniture store

- William replies to donot be bulliedIf your mother's land line does not have a call-blocker, it's time to get one for her so this scammer and others like them will have more difficulty verbally harassing her.
- AGV replies to Tired of Scammers| 1 replyI just got a voicemail from them. Won't say what the debt is for.
- Alfalfa replies to AGVHow can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).

- It's Meeeeee| 1 replyAfter doing some research and talking to my state labor and licensing, they are not licensed to collect. They are also not a legitimate to collect in their state. Not only I did research on them, I spoke to the state licensing department for my state and Texas regulations too. They cannot collect if they are not licensed to do so in the state. Just passing this on to everyone. They can go ahead and kick rocks!

Web site lists him as an attorney that also does debt collection and gives an address that is probably in a virtual office:
http://www.jonathancfrank.com/
No BBB page yet.
There is no LLC registered in Texas or any other state for that matter which would preclude this enterprise from legally conducting business, which a “lawyer” should know.
They are not registered with the Dept. of State in Texas as a collection agency and they do not seem to have the required necessary surety bond.
LinkedIn page: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jonathan-frank-b59a3a44
Texas BAR registration indicates he has been a lawyer for around 18 months:

Whois information on his web page indicates that it less than a year old and will expire next month:

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: http://consumerfraudreporting.org/stateattorneygenerallist.php - AnonymousBigA, thanks for the share and breaking it all down. The person from their office has been calling everyone else regarding me, but me. They do not disclose what the debt is for. They got some nerve to even do what they are doing. He may be a "lawyer," but one without common sense. To collect a debt, you got to be either licensed or have the necessary bond as a business to do so. This whole so called business can crawl under a rock and disappear. I am glad you saw what I saw.

- Fed UpI received 3 calls from them. Finally called back and spoke to "Mr. Thomas". Asked for something in writing so I can review because I am not paying for something I do not recognize without that. He told me they already sent something and "he'll refer it to an attorney in the office to see if they an send me something." Then said he is going to document that I refuse to pay. I advised I don't refuse, I want validation first. I also asked him to stop calling my work number, he said he'll see what he can do.

- EdwinA certain Brandon called from the law offices of Jonathan c franks and associates and was asking that my mother in law call them back in regards to a legal matter. This was a call out of many from this office. When I asked what this was for so that I may forward the information to my mother in law who is out of the country, he would not provide any information. I have told him that I have a SPoA provided by my mother in law and he wanted me to email it to him! And why should I do that when I wasn't even provided any information for the reason as to why they wanted to "help" my mother in law? And when I called them back because they hung up the phone on me, the person who answered me had the nerve that that they don't have to provide me with any information at all since it wasn't me who they were calling for. Then why call my number and how did they get my number in the first place? I am reporting this so called 'law office' to the proper authorities and try to make their lives as miserable as I can.
