- kmThe fact that caller ID shows either UNKNOWN or TOLL FREE CALLS makes me always immediately let it ring thru and it usually disconnects when answering machine picks up - saw other posts about agency doing this - not the best marketing tool or tool to gain financial support.
- radishmom| 1 replyThis number (and myriad others) has called daily, or very nearly so, over the last 2-3 weeks. Some, like this one, show "Toll Free Call" or "Tollfree number", others display "Alzheimer's" on the CID. Same MO, regardless -- rings a few times, never leaves a message.
Today I picked up & got "Mike from Infocision (a Google search revealed that Infocision is a telemarketing firm, what I refer to as "hired guns"), calling on behalf of the Alz..."
Not interested, DO NOT call back!
Although DH has contributed to the Alzheimer's Association in the past, if paying telemarketers to harass almost constantly for more $$ is what they're going to do with the donations, he'll find another worthy cause to support.- Caller: Infocision, "on behalf of the Alzheimer's Association"

- Rovert Swift5/31/10 call in morning at 10 A.M. I answered, and there was nothing on the other end.
- Rovert Swift replies to FiveLittleHensI'm thinking that they actually want to have you call back so they can solicit free of charge. I have also gotten calls from 866-855-8396 which hang up either before the answering machine picks up or before they can leave a message. I see someone has seen 866-855-8398. Is this too co-incidental?
- JimCalls every day. Leaves no message and if you pick up no one is there. Hold for a bit and it just hangs up itself. Caller ID TOLL FREE
- Caller: unknown
- NaomiThis is a female speaking Spanish, and it is always the same. Calls twice a day usually around ten and between three and four. "Holla......" I have learned that if I give a low, low scream they disconnect. I think it is a pay for call marketing or someone wants to know if I am home. Or it may be just a prank recording.
- Call type: Prank

- JudyI've received several calls from this number. I did not answer them, but I did just call back. It is Alzheimers Foundation, and they offered me the option of being removed from their calling list. I'm assuming that since I took them up on the offer, the calls will stop soon.

- BettyThe caller ID reads Toll Free Call, but if it is Alzheimer's, someone there must have Alzheimers because they are calling all the time from different numbers:
951-281-3716,
877-213-1826,
877-224-5803,
866-855-8398 and
888-771-2959- Call type: Non-profit organization
- Fed UpWe received a hang-up call at 8:04 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2010. Caller ID showed "TOLL FREE CALL." When I called 888-771-2959, I listened to a short message from the Alzheimer's Association wherein I was instructed to press "1" to be placed on their do not call list.
The following is from the government's www*donotcall*gov website:
"Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you’ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request. You should keep a record of the date you make the request."- Caller: Alzheimer's Association
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- RonI get calls from this number as well as several others all trackable back to" Alzheimers", according to existing reports from other complaining people. Sadly my Mom died of this terrible disease and I have now wound up be the Power of attorney and responsible party for an aunt similarly affected. I used to donate, thinking maybe my money was actually going to help in advances in a cure. If one looks at all the so called Alzheimers organizations it becomes confusing as to which one or ones might be legitimate and which ones are the constant naggers. I decided after asking the callers some questions and they hang to not contribute at all but this has not stopped the calls, usually three a day, all from different numbers. And to ask to be removed from their call list might stop from one of the many numbers they use, but to ge total relief I wish I knew a way and would be most pleased if somebody can come up with one. I have better ways to spend my time and nothing pissed me off than stopping to answer phone, and get a hang up or somebody who wants to ask all the questions but answer none of mine. All the more reason I am considering home phone removal.
