- RonnyDon't know, don't care...number ID came through as "unavailable"...blocked.
- EdBot888-918-7313... verified with our credit union that this is a valid number for credit card security issues

- TThey left a message stating they were from Provident Credit Union regarding a security check on my visa credit card. I don't have a credit card with Provident although I do have accounts with them. I called Provident directly, spoke with Emmanuel and they don't do phone call security checks.
- Caller: Jan @ Provident Credit Union?
- Nathan| 1 replyIt's legitimate. I was suspicious when I got a message from them but it turned out that they were protecting my account.
- TheRealSeriously replies to NathanAnd while it may have been legit for you, that doesn't mean scammers aren't spoofing the number to appear legit themselves
- Mary GWe were on vacation and so we were generating out of state charges. In this case, the charges were legit. They were our vacation charges! But the credit union/security company saw the out of state charges, and called our home number. They did not get an answer from us because we use a land line instead of a cellphone as our main number, and obviously we were not home to take the call...so the Credit Union we use blocked the card! Didn't cancel it, just blocked it to force us to call them. We did! They were able to resolve the issue in conjunction with our Credit Union representative and unblock the card so we could enjoy the rest of our vacation. So, this number is legit. We "got the call" when we returned home and cleared our answering machine messages. Will have to look up how to access them remotely, if that is possible with our machine. Also, sometimes you can give the card company a heads up that you will be traveling, and the cities to which you will be going. Not sure if that is a good idea, but it is an option.

- Lori| 1 replyI called my credit union to verify whether or not this was legitimate. They said absolutely not. If there was a problem, they would contact me directly. Years ago when my card number WAS stolen, they emailed me and froze my account due to suspicious activity. DO NOT give you information to these people. Deal with your bank.
- Lori replies to Wayne P.My credit union said that this was absolutely not a legitimate number.

- AlbertGot a call from this number but did not answer and they did not leave a message. After Reading some of the responses here, I called my bank and they confirmed that it was indeed a legitimate call and there had been some suspicious activity on my debit card so it had been locked. After confirming the charges in question were legit, they unlocked the card and all's good now.
- Jody HLegitimate. This was my credit union's credit card fraud service. My husband made a large purchase the previous day and they were confirming. They did not ask for any numbers, passwords, or security information, just "did you make this purchase. "
- Caller: credit union
- Not a scam!Seriously not a scam. I thought it was so I immediately called my bank and they assured me it was not a scam and even transfered me over. Glad to see so many people being cautious like myself, but again this is not a scam, I promise you.
- KenAny and all numbers can be spoofed on incoming calls. If you originate the call that's another matter.
- CutthecardsGot a call from number at issue. He asked for my credit card number. If he's protecting my credit card he should already have the number. Trust everyone, but cut the cards. I did not supply my number.

- EmmyizmeThere are a lot of people saying anyone who says this call was legit is a shill, and I get the concern, but I just got off the phone with my credit union (I didn't answer when this number called me, since I was suspicious, that's how I got here) and there were in fact 2 charges fraudulently made using my card this morning. I do recommend if you have a call that's suspicious regarding your credit cards/bank account/debit cards, that you call your bank directly, thanks to how many phishing scams there are, but this one does seem to be legitimate.

- NormanScam call. Pretended to from the security department of my CU bank but could not tell me what the acronym of the CU meant. What tipped me off is that they did they wannted to talk to me about the joint credit card account I allegedly had with one of my children. They did not know this child is a minor and cannot get a credit card... All assertions about them being legit are posted by crooks working for them and dying to fool you. Reporting them to the FBI.

- AGThis was a legitimate call. I missed the first and listened to my voicemail which provided me with the last four digits of my card and a case number. I was concerned so I called my credit union. They transferred me over to security services and verified that the purchases over the last couple of days were in fact made by me. After I asked him if the original call was legitimate, he looked in their system and said that the call was legit.
Honestly I would still go through the phone number on the back of my card no matter what anyone reported. Better safe than sorry, guys.- Caller: Card Security
- DianeThey called this a.m. As soon as I saw the caller ID I looked it up on 800notes. The first entry said it was legit so I answered the phone. Turns out they were calling on behalf of my new VISA card which recently replaced the previous card which had the number stolen, extremely large purchases attempted (and failed) and the card cancelled. The caller wanted to verify several legitimate purchases which I just made - *they* named the merchants; they did not ask me to give them any information. I'm just surprised that a legitimate company would have their calls go out with a caller ID of *unavailable.*
- Caller: UNAVAILABLE
