- Caller: Some white lady
- AuntieGetting one or two calls DAILY. Each one says "Final attempt to contact you to move forward with this case. Client is willing to settle this matter but you MUST contact them today." Threatening to contact my 'human resources' department, but I don't have one. :) I've been getting 'final attempts' for the last 2 weeks.

- MarylandDave replies to Anonymous| 1 replyYour information about "resetting" a limitation is utterly incorrect and ignorant.
A debt limitation begins running with the last financial transaction. That last transaction can be your accepting money or you making a payment. Mere contact does not and never has reset.
It is also important to know that if the collector files suit within the limitation, the limitation stops running (called "tolling")
It also stops running (tolls) if you leave the jurisdiction of the United States. - BigA replies to MarylandDaveI think you need to look up what the legal terms for "tolling" are and then look into some case law before stating what you did as fact.
- Dave replies to CCI too blocked the number, but they are still able to leave voicemails...which are completely ridiculous.
- Allison Riley replies to CCI just received the same call left message then i called back 9018665971 number said i just got a scam likely call from this number lady got smart said any number 1800 etc could be scam likely but you will be notified within 48hrs and Good luck?Do i need to worry who is this did u find out and did u have too block number they called from a 440241 something number but on vm left this number to call and This is what they said rude as heck hung up also on my vm they said i had 2 processing claims should i report this number to police
- K| 1 replyThis is most likely a scam (and I, for one, would LOVE to see proceedings against THEM). If they are a valid debt collector, they are required to identify themselves as such (not hide their phone number),give their company name, and a reference to what they're calling about.. .. not some vague "this is the processing office". They also are not allowed to threaten you with showing up at your place of employment (especially when they haven't referenced a multitude of letters being sent to you).... and you certainly do NOT forfeit any rights (as they state you do). I am on the DO NOT CALL list, yet I get so many of these SCAMS, and are any of THEM prosecuted?? No... we just have more apps (that we pay for) to identify them as scams, so we can put in a complaint.....hmmmm

- Tygerkat replies to KThe DNC list doesn't apply to debt collectors and scammers, of course, simply ignore it.
- Angela D replies to Gman| 1 replyI was contacted several times by family members saying inperative I CALL. I did call and was screamed at, sworn at, and could not speak to a supervisor, asked for fax number, they yelled you will see the judge. ALL A SCAM
If I knew even the name of company I would report to BBB. - BigA replies to Angela DSo, you want to report them to a useless, worthless organization that can do nothing but send them a nasty letter that they can ignore instead of reporting them to actual agencies that have law enforcement powers?
- AudreyThey called my number regarding my father who passed over 8 years ago. I am guessing old debts that didn't get paid off in the settlement of the estate? However they are very old.

- 9810 replies to Tygerkat| 1 replyCorrection- there is a statue of limitations for the ability to pursue legal action on a debt per state. Please research your state laws. However, there is no statue of limitations for how long the debt is to remain on your credit.
- Tygerkat replies to 9810The word is 'statute", not statue. Try learning how to read before criticizing others.

The vague scare tactic message is designed to panic a victim into calling back.
Most debt collectors will use a certain amount of pressure to convince you to pay the debt. After all, they often don't get paid unless you pay. Be suspicious of a debt collector who uses an unusual amount of pressure to get you to pay immediately, particularly if they also use scare tactics to get you to pay right away. For example, a debt collector is scamming you if it :- threatens you with a lawsuit and tells that you can avoid the lawsuit by paying right away
- Says a Process Server or Courier is coming with papers to sign
- Threatens to call / go to your place of employment
- Insists you have been notified, served or are non-compliant via phone message(s)
- Refuses to give a company name or verifiable Contact source
- Refuses to send proof of debt via US mail
A sure sign of a debt collection scam is a collector that wants to you to pay via wire transfer or another method that can't be traced. If the payment method can't be traced, you'll have a harder time getting the authorities involved.
If the creditor sounds completely foreign, or you know you never had an account with that business, there's a chance it's a scam. Never pay a collection you don't recognize. You have the right to request written proof of the debt from the debt collector before you send payment. - Leighthey called and spoofed a local phone number. to me, this equals spam
- FLEllenJust got a phone call. Message said "I will forfeit my right to answer the complaint. They will contact the HR dept. where I work. This is my final attempt. You've been officially notified." Very threatening tone.
I called the number but did not give the reference ID. They told me they are called CRG Litigations. Would not give me an address for "safety protocol reasons since we handle civil and criminal complaints." This number has called my home phone, my cell phone, and both of my teenage grandsons' cell phones (they are on my wireless plan), along with my adult son and adult daughter's phones - not on my plan. Every phone call is basically the same - very threatening and scary tone. The 901 area code is Memphis, Tennessee.- Caller: CRG Litigations

- justthefacts replies to Tygerkat| 1 replyBut there is a "statute" of limitations, and despite the fact that 123helpme didn't spell it right, the underlying response was correct. The "statute of limitations" is a legal time for someone to file a lawsuit. If it runs, and they sue, you can defend the suit by pleading the statute of limitations. If you make any payments on a debt past the statute of limitations, it renews that time for them to sue. I would rather read an accurate statement with a misspelled word, than an unhelpful comment. You could have just politely given the correct spelling.
